Hi wonderful, strong, perfect women It's been a while as we've been having a break. Looking at getting back into the swing ofthings in Feb or Mar next year but came to have a bit of a rant, if you don't mind? I guess it's a bit late if you do, 'coz here it is anyway!

So, guess what happy letter was awaiting my return from work this afternoon? Oh yes, not only am I "Not Normal" because pregnancy hasn't just Happened, today my IVF clinic sent me all the forms for getting police record check because I'm not Normal and need assistance conceiving. PHOOEY. This requirement had firmly slipped my mind while we weren't actively seeking ART, but now that we have a solid reminder in the million-page forms on the bench, it just reminds me how RIDICULOUSLY UNFAIR AND STUPID the Victorian Government is. Because as I'm sure all you other wonderful women on the ART rollercoaster know, the amount of bollocking bollocks we already have to go through to get pregnant means that we really DON'T want our children and are going to go out of our way to abuse them when they arrive.

    le sigh

And it was going to be such a NICE afternoon, after all, it's Friday

Good luck to all waiting for results. I have been lurking but it's kinda hard when we not actively doing anything atm.

    Hi Ladies,

    thanks for the welcome!

Can I have a bit of a rant?
My DH and I have different health insurance - from when we were single. We looked into combining them, but we realised that we would be worse off (he had better coverage for his needs, and I for mine, and there was no benefit in changing for either of us). We did check that each would cover any potential future needs, and were told that we wouldn't need to combine until such time as we had a baby.

Well, today DH gets a letter from his insurer advising that pregnancy, birth related and assisted reproductive are NOT covered under his insurance - GRRR!
My insurance covers my side of things, but his won't be covered.

And because we've already seen the FS for our first appt, it is now considered "pre-existing" GRRR (though we haven't had the results of his semen analysis yet, and I don't start clomid till next cycle).

Any ideas on what the "male" costs of IVF are? I am guessing that most of the expense is against the female partner, but I am sure some - but how much - is DH as the patient???

Oh, and no public clinic near us, so all private and obviously DH is at full cost.

    thanks heaps ladies.

    Hi all,
Please remember that guidelines prohibit "double-posting" across different LT TTC chatter threads - it makes them too long. We will start to delete these double posts if we come across them in the future.
Feel free to PM me, or the other mods if you wish to discuss this,
Thanks and best wishes to everyone,

    Evening Ladies,

My favourite nurse called this afternoon to advise that my EPU will in fact be Tuesday! I'm continue to take the drugs as per normal for Sat & Sun & will trigger Sunday night at 09:30pm. I've got a cold at the moment so they've taken me off synarel & have my on some other drug that i've got to inject but it's only for a couple of days. One poor section of my belly is going a nice shade of yellow!!

Milly5: We go private as well & as far as male costs go, they don't charge for screening blood tests & it's only the seaman analysis that we had to pay for. This was about $375 but then we could take it to medicare & get some of it back. (sorry can't remember how much we did get back)

Emeraldstar - Good luck for Monday hope things go well for you

    Have a lovely weekend

Littlemissmoo ~ Goodluck with the EPU on Tuesday and FX that there are lots of nice eggs! As for the bruised stomach - I used to alternate my injections on each side of my stomach so atleast the bruising was even on both sides :-) Hope you feel better soon.

milly5 ~ My DH and I just completed round 1 of IVF and there were not any costs associated for my DH. The procedure for preparing his sperm was covered by the overall fertility cost. I guess it all depends what procedures your partner gets done.

Emeraldstar ~Goodluck with the EPU on Monday!Hope you end up with lots of nice eggs! Good to see so many BFP in the month of November and there are a few ladies awaiting results for Decemeber. your name appears in Dec too!

motherhoodhereIcome~your POAS results sound really positive! Congratulations! Keep us posted when you complete your BT!

meo ~ hi and like you I also had mail sent by my fertility clinic containing the forms to complete a police check arrive yesterday. I still don't understand why we have to do this? I think it's absolutely ridiculous. Don't we already have enough to worry about with not being able to conceive naturally and then to have to go through this check. I share the same sentiments as you. Unfortunately without it we can't proceed with another cycle.

Hello to everyone else I might have missed, Juniper, Loops12, brunette, daisy, Coral73, mellybelly!

Hi ladies, Thanks fore all the positive thoughts you have sent my way,

Leabie: In answer to your TMI question, I don’t think I had that when I was on pregnyl for the IUI but I certainly have it now!!!! So maybe it is a good sign!

Terry: Only a few more days to go, I think your test is one Thursday which is the same day as my scan. I hope we both have positive news.

Juniper: Thanks for the info, have you got the results back yet?

Brunette: I hope your EPU on Friday was not too traumatic and you got some good results.

Meltcc- Good to hear from you. I hope you enjoy the next couple of months and that they are stress free. A big ask at this time of year I know.

Coral- Thanks for the information, I will try the thread. I imagine that there are so many people at different stages that it will be difficult to keep up with everyone.

Mellybelly- How frustrating for you, at least they have discovered whats going on which will mean a little less time wasted. Although it is difficult now that you will probably have to wait until next year.

Motherhood- Sounds very promising. I had to laugh at your POAS saga, because I did exactly the same I numbered them by the day, compared how dark it was and watched how quickly they lines came up. I finally stopped when I did a test and the pregnancy line came up before the control line.

Meo- I hope this round is a success for you, I ahd exactly the same letter and I have to say exactly the same feelings. Although, DH and I already had all the checks done because they wouldnt let us start without them. So I dont know why I got the letter!

Milly-As far as I know it shouldn’t affect you unless your DH has to go into hospital. The only things I claim on insurance are the hospital visit and some medications

Emerald and Littlemiss- I hope those follies grow nice and big over the weekend and your EPUs go well next week.

To everyone else out there I haven’t mentioned have a lovely weekend.

Hi ladies Hope everyone is having a lovely lazy Sunday morning.

Milly - I think the sperm analysis was covered in my costs. From memory the only money my partner had to cough up for was a sperm assay test of $150. The boys get off pretty easy. Private health insurance is very frustrating. I upgraded in advance for trying to conceive. I thought the 12-month wait would apply only to pregnancy, not the IVF. So imagine my disappointment when my first IVF cycle was about 2 weeks off the 12-month wait and we were not covered! Very annoying, but then the good thing was we had met the Medicare safety net and got 80% back off all other cycles/doctors visits etc.

    Emstar - for Monday.

    LMM - for Tuesday

    Rob - for Monday.

Melttc and Meo - I am not fully apprised of the Victorian police check, but I noticed a thread about it elsewhere. Unbelievable if you have to get a screening check before you can do another round of IVF. What are the bureaucrats thinking?

MHIC - When do you find out for sure if it's a BFP so you can tell family/friends? I hate POAS, probably because every time I have done there's only one testing line that I see ... After last time and I was rolled up in a ball on the bed crying myself silly, I vowed no more POAS for me until I get a BFP from BT and then I'll do one

AFM, thanks to everyone who wished me well for my EPU. It went better than expected, and had 15 eggs when expecting only 8. We do ICSIs, and two follices were uninjectible. So, of 13 eggs, 11 have fertilised. This is our best result yet so
