wow - less than half way through the month and onto number 3 already - we're either really busy, or really chatty (i'm leaning towards chatty!)

Ellie - BW has pretty much summed up the autoimmune problems - basically your body sees something that should be treated as natural, but is seen as an "intruder" and your body attacks it. in your case, there's a chance their worried that your body is seeing an embryo as a foreign/alien object and having an immune response to try to get rid of it - kind of like white blood cells fighting an infection - there are ways that it can be dealt with if they know about it (can't remember exactly what, but i believe they can try to "trick" your body into accepting the embie) - and the testing is fairly simple (just BT's i think) - we had testing done when we first started AC to check and make sure that my blood didn't have a hostile/adverse reaction to DH's semen) - hope they can get you some answers soon.

Rol's - i'm guessing most people use the CC thing to get going for the first cycle - we're in a unique-ish situation in that, when we need a biginjection of cash, hubby can go to work for his ex-box for two or three weeks and he earns up to five times his current income - so far we're only doing the IUI, which we can swing on our current incomes, but if it comes to IVF he'll definitely be going away for a while! we have spoken about me taking a six month leave of absence from work if we're told we need IVF - and both of us going on the road full time - will give us six months to get ahead financially, try for a natural miracle - and if that doesn't work, we'll have the savings to go through the IVF without money being an issue - but ours is definitely a unique situation! (and if i were to go on the road for six months, i think i'd have to invest in a really good mobile plan so that i could still go online for BB!!)

Mel - you don't have to sneak in and out unnoticed hun!! your input and advice is always more than welcome around here! am so sorry that you're in that situation of knowing what needs to happen, but not being able to take the next step forward - my heart goes out to you hun. just as an aside - which FS have you been dealing with - i don't often see people on here that are on this side of Melbourne (well, no further out then Pakenham anyway) - just curious as to who you see...

still not a lot to report over here - wishing i was having monitoring this month cos the pains in my tum are seriously suggesting i am about to, or have just recently, O'd - but i don't know for sure and it's driving me nuts!!! when i see FS next week, i will be CD20 - so i'm guessing if i let them know about the niggles they may do a CD21 test to check for o.... who knows?? DH is loving it though cos i'm not going to let the chance of O slip by without trying to catch the eggie!

Jo, Deb will probably be able to help, but if you want to do some light reading on immunology testing, there is a thread about it here, in the LTAC forum.

    Hope it helps.

Are you guys ganging up on me!! hehehe!!!
That's interesting what your NP said - thanks. I am pleased to see you around.

Rols - Mel is doing PGD. Not really something you can jump into twice in one year!

Mel - soooo nice to see you. Wishing you lucky lotto vibes !!!

Sparkles - you kind of need to see you nurse etc first. They will make the whole picture much much clearer for you. It's too early to try to guess and plan. Patience my dear..

Ellie - the testing might be a good thing. I hope it is. Deb is very lovely, i'm sure she can help.

    BG - lucky DH

I'm a bit less sad ATM so as you can tell i'm a bit more talky!

Hi girls my name is Emma. I had a tubal reversal 9mths ago and im now on my 3rd cycle of clomid. I went and seen a IVF specialist at Wentworth ville on Tuesday and he has said that maybe IVF would be the best way to go about it. And i must say the costs for the Westmead program is great. He is going to put me on the pill next month and said we can have our first go in August i think it was. I have very little understanding of IVF please can i get some advice!!!!!???????
Hi Happymel.... WOW thats heaps. Is that all on IVF?????

Hi Emma! No!!! Not all of that money was for IVF, a lot though associated with- had big op last year to remove endometrioma/laparoscopy etc etc... Great doc but big bucks!! We finished our first ivf cycle in Mar and ended up m/c at 7.5 weeks, just about to do our first natural frozen embryo transfer. But what i was going to say was that all of the girls on here have done more and been doing ivf for a while and you can prob learn a lot from them. All i can tell you that its stressful, lots of up and downs, emotional and its definitely not easy. I wish you the best of luck, if you have any questions, please ask

Thanks heaps girls. I feel abit strange being in here and maybe abit selfish as i already have 5 beautiful children and i know alot of couples dont have any at all. But at the end of the day im still in the same boat and going thru the same emotions. Ive had so many highs and lows already and we have not even started.

    Hi Everyone!!!

Just about to start teaching for the afternoon - thought I would pop in and see whats happening!!!

    MumOf5 - Welcome!!!
You will find much love & support (and in many cases, expertise!) here in this thread... everyone is just wonderful xxx
Don't feel as though you are selfish because you already have children - I felt a little that way myself in the beginning, but I can assure you you have to stop that straight away!!!

HappyMel - I am hearing you on the $$$ re medicare... am just hoping it will work to our advantage when we do our tax in the next few weeks...!!!

BG - Good to hear you & DH are working on catching that egg
You can never be sure... don't rule out anything!!!!!

Lou, I sent you an sms earlier today if you're up for a chat later tonight xxx

    Hi to everyone else!!!

Nothing much happening here - seems like I'm taking some type of medication every 2 seconds, but am feeling great!!!
(Apart from my period pain that is there now I can feel again!!!)
DH said this morning that since taking the herbs from Antonia (with the vodka!) he doesn't think he's slept better in years than what he has the last week.... God, my husband will turn into an alcoholic whilst we're TTC....!!!!!

Hope everyone is doing great, will pop back in tonight to wish you all the best for tomorrow BW!!! xxx

mel - when i got my "tuppereware titties" (lifetime guarantee!) my bill between plastic surgeon aneasthetist and hodspital and boobies was $9600! non claimable through medicare! but our tax man gave us 20% back for everything over $1500. so in the end the grand total was brought down to 8000 very well spent dollars! our ivf has been about $1500 out of pocket so far. should i be able to claim any more expenses on top of that through tax as well as medicare?

hi mumof5, i too am a mum of two gorgeous boys and an angel baby. i felt slightly guilty at the beginning too but the girls here are wonderful and so supportive, no matter what your situation. we are all loving compassionate women with the same goal....BABIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!BABIES!!!!!!!!!! !!!!and more BABIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

me- AF still hasnt show. now 3 days late.....hurry up i want FET to begin...

Hi Sonya. Wow big bills too, but hey at least you got your lifetime guarantee hehe!!! Yep you can claim everything over the 1500 dollars. So stuff like hospital excess bills and all the stuff related to ivf, and then other stuff like dental and optical out of pocket. It sucks that we only get 20% back but i guess is better than nothing... Im trying to get as much as i can done this financial year hehe!!
Well, had my blood test today- we think is about day 7 in my cycle, getting ready to do first FET. We went in and first prob (damn there is Always something). My referral was out of date. So the admin lady says you need one and it needs to be back dated to day one of your cycle. By this time im frustrated because its the last thing i want right now. She said if i dont get backdated then i cant claim anything from cycle on ivf and then she got frustrated because i said i wasnt really sure what was day 1 because cycle had been bit up and down. Grrr. So went into nurse, and she was ok, but because of all the silly referral stuff i didnt get to ask all the questions i wanted to. Then she said, ok we will take the bloods and check a Beta Hcg too, im like hmmm. There's no way!!! We left the clinic, and i was cranky pants. Rang GP, got in today and got the referral back dated easy peasy!! Yippee. Then ivf nurse called this pm, and said that confirmed about day 7 in cycle yippee!!! And all was good...and that wasnt pregnant. Which i said good to, because it wouldnt be right straight after d&c. Estrogen level was 500 and LH 6. And they said have to see LH at about 20+ before a FET. More bloods on Sat. So all good so far... Wow, day did turn out ok.
Ellie, i read your posts about the immunology testing. Sounds really interesting, i read Flowerchild's post and that was fantastic. When i first started ivf and had initial bloods i asked them to check my clotting profiles as my nan has prothrombin gene mutation, ended up having a DVT when she was young, and had her leg amputated. I asked them to check for the specific gene but am not sure they did, just usual clotting profiles (which im not really sure what ones they do), so asked GP to test for specific gene today. Im a worrier and just want to make sure... Has anyone else tested positive for anything like this and had to be on meds???
Hi to everyone else, hope everyone is doing ok
BW- extra special good luck for tomorrow

Just dropping in for a quick hello to everyone.

Sonya - I was PMSL at your tupperware tittie comment! I've never heard that comment before.

Sparkles, Yep, watched the origin last night. When DH was picked up for work this arvo DD and I were out the front doing the Loser "L" on our head to one of the guys that picked him up LOL! Will have to wait till DH gets home from work in the morning to see if I stirred this guy or not...... he is scared of me, so probably won't say anything at all PMSL!

Hope everyone is well. I was starting to get my cold back today, had a couple of codral and am feeling a bit better now. Praying for it to go away before my lap next week!

    Nic
