Williever- If nothing else the acupuncture helps you feel relaxed and as though your 'doing something' and that in itself has got to be a good thing! I did acupuncture during my successful ivf cycle last time round.. I would love to be doing it this time round but now I'm working full time and it's a struggle.. I already take so much time off work for my FS appointments as is it.

AFM- Scan this morning showed my lining is now 7mm.. Is that pretty good? FS has scheduled our FET for next Wednesday. I am to keep my dose of Progynova as is and start adding crinone from Saturday.
FS said to try and ignore my weight gain.. Apparently just fluid retention from the Progynova and he thinks it should resolve itself as my body adjusts.

Williever - I have been going to acupuncture once a week since December last year. I got my bfp with half my cycle of acupuncture (I had 2 sessions before transfer). My transfer was just after Xmas and the clinic was closed so I couldn't have any after the transfer. I had full cycle of acupuncture this last cycle but got bfn. I feel so relaxed with my acupuncturist and my feeling is that if there is anything extra I can do towards getting pregnant I will do it.

Jasmine - that is great news that your lining has thickened up so quickly. Gl for next Wednesday.

Afm - I have to wait to see dr in 2 weeks time. Apparently because I have had so many failed cycles now they need to look into other reasons why they aren't sticking. Does anyone know what type of things they check out next? At what stage do they start transferring 2 embryos? Has anyone tried embryo glue?

Beau- I used embryo glue for my successful transfer. My clinic uses it for all patients as its only an extra $100. I have the stats on a brochure at home and I know their pretty good.. Particularly with frozen embryos. Have you had assisted hatching on your embryos?

Thanks Jasmine. No I haven't had assisted hatching. 2 out of our 4 embryos we transferred we could see hatching though - but I will definitely bring it up with dr at appointment.

Beau- My clinic mentioned today that they will be doing assisted hatching as freezing embryos sometimes 'hardens' the shell making it difficult for the embryo to hatch on its own... But it sounds as though yours are doing that on their own. My FS also tells my to take baby aspirin as it can help with implantation and help prevent miscarriage???
Maybe if they can't find any reason why your embies are not sticking they will do pgd to see if that sheds any light...?

Jasmine, you want at least 8mm for transfer, so you're nice and close! FX for next week! Hope the bloat goes down for you soon (and then goes up again because of a BFP!)

Beau, if you haven't already done them, I'd imagine the options to explore next are lap (for endo and other physical anomalies), testing for clotting factors (ANA, APA, etc) and immune testing. For your partner there is SCSA (sperm DNA fragmentation) and FISH (sperm chromosome studies) testing that can be done. It was the FISH that gave us our recent bad news. You can also have chromosome studies done on each of you (different to the FISH and DH's came back normal when he did it back in 2009). We started transferring 2 embryos from our second fresh cycle (31yo, and had planned to transfer 2 at the FET in between the fresh cycles, but only 1 survived the thaw). Haven't tried embryo glue or assisted hatching.

Thanks for the reminder. Even though I knew you were waiting for transfer, it went right over my head in terms of The List...

I knew I'd gone wrong somewhere. Fixed now. Sorry.

WRT the aspirin, you ask the chemist for "low dose aspirin" (100mg). You would not give it to a child (except on Drs orders). From what little I know, I think "baby aspirin" is more of an American term and over there it is actually 81mg instead of 100mg.

Rai, don't take the aspirin unless instructed by your FS. It can be detrimental to some women and cause problems with implantation. It really is an individual thing.

Rai- In my early days of fertility treatment I suffered recurrent miscarriages.. So after running some tests my FS put me on low dose aspirin. I took it for the rest of my fertility treatment and ivf and it was the first time I was able to maintain a pregnancy. I have also had a blood clot in the past... Talk to your FS and see if it is suitable for you x

I completely agree with this. There are some people for whom it can be harmful. Best to seek medical advice before starting. Your Dr is likely to support the idea, so I wouldn't worry about being told to not do it. Even the Drs who don't really believe in the immune aspects of IF tend to be comfortable with their patients taking the aspirin.

My current FS has me taking it the entire cycle. My previous FSs only had me take it after O. When I asked my OB about it, he said to just start once I had a BFP. Chat with your Dr about it and see what they recommend. I've never started taking it without first discussing it with a Dr. And that's with knowing it has not caused me any problems in the past...

If you're doing a fresh IVF cycle and are taking it all cycle, you have to stop a few days before EPU. This is where it's particularly important for your Dr to be involved in the decision of whether or not to take it.
