welcome jbub and dellydoo!
dellydoo - try to sneak some gatorade or something like that in there with all that water too - and don't let yourself get too stressed out - i had a bit of a meltdown after my scan last week ( i had REALLY high follicle numbers) thinking all was going to be cancelled or that i was bound for ohss - but my blood results were within the range they need, and EPU is going ahead tomorrow. i know it's gonna be a little ouchie (possibly more than a little ouchie!), and i know there is still a risk of ohss - but my clinic just take each day as it comes and, with the support of some very wise ladies on here, i've realised that i have to do the same - no point panicking today about what may be later in the week - it will be here soon enough - today i just have to get through today!

Hi everyone,
I am a newbie here. I posted in the TWW thread as well.
As I said in there, I have been a "lurker" on BB for a long time as it is a wonderful place for information and support, even if you are like me and too shy to post!
We are trying to conceive our second bub on a ICSI stim cycle - my pick up was last Wednesday and we had one embryo put back on Friday.
At my pick up I only got three eggs, but two of them fertilised and are good strong embryos. I have never been a great responder to the Puregon (this is our fourth cycle) and they keep upping my dose, but it doesn't ever seem to increase the amount of eggs (this cycle I was on 400iu, which I gather is a fairly high dose).
Having said that, though, the ones I do get are usually very good quality - of my previous three cycles, I had two pregnancies, although I lost the first one at twelve weeks to a missed miscarriage. So even though I am also always a bit down when I don't get many eggs, I always try to cheer myself up by thinking it only takes one!
At least this time we have got one frozen one, our first ever. Reading all of your posts, I'm amazed at the amount of eggs everyone seems to collect - although the OHSS certainly doesn't sound very nice at all!
Anyway, it's very nice to meet you all and I wish you all the best with your cycles!!!
-
Brown Bug welcome heres hoping you have a postive cycle
-
BG - Do you feel like a whale?
-
Brownbug - I know what you mean - I was far too shy to speak up and spent a lot of time nodding sagely at the computer without actually typing.
-
not really hun - i'm starting to feel a little more bloated, but nothing that i can't deal with!
-
Weclome Jbub, dellydoo and brown bug - I'm going to get really lost with this many new people!
Dellydoo, when it comes to OHSS, I can tell you that it is seriously no picnic and something that you honestly don't want to mess around with. I had it with my first stim cycle, it ended up being a freeze all cycle, and so has this one, but with no signs of it developing badly... yet. EPU was only yesterday.
If they do start talking about cancelling, ask about the option of going ahead with collection, but putting all embryos in the freezer. I've done this twice now, and while it is disappointing to not get to a fresh transfer, you do at least feel you are making forward progress. It's up to you in the end... I was absolutely terrified of hyperstimulating again with this cycle, but it appears that this is the way my body does things, and something we just need to accept will happen a lot with me. My clinic does watch me carefully before and after EPU because of this. Good luck with it all.

Thank you all for the welcome.
Dellydoo - my hubby was always nagging at me to post, because I absolutely haunted BB, especially after my miscarriage. I found heaps of encouragement from the Miscarriage and Loss threads, but it all felt too raw for me to post - I was very stressed and anxious. I'm heaps more relaxed this time though. I hope things settle down for you soon and you don't have OHSS. Best of luck for your transfer!!
-
BG - Of course you can handle it - thanks so much I feel more relaxed and all the very best tomorrow - am keeping everything crossed for you
BW - My FS did say that the Freeze em all option might have to happen and she is hopeful that is going to be our end game if all else fails. She is usually so resolute and sure but the growth seems to worry her and she mentioned she has probably put me on too high a dosage of Puregon! After reading everyone elses stories I am feeling better!
Thank you so much!

Hi Just wanted to say welcome to Brownbug & Dellydoo (its nice to see another Brisvegas gal on the threads :) )

Hello, I am new to this....
We have just finished our second ivf cycle but we hyper stimulated. I produced over 30 follicles, however they collected 24 eggs and we ended up freezing 8 blastoys, with no transfer.
To be honest... i have no idea what to expect next. temps this month are very high, I still feel very average and have been told that we'll do a frozen embryo transfer next month... after this last experience we are reluctant to any further stimulated transfers.... can we do one without stimulation?? And if we do, how successful are they?
-
Brissy Gals I agree with Shannon nice to see you at work bored and did't notice
Welcome Bub Wishes - You would be up FET (Frozen) I have not had stims with these. See how you go with your FS

It's nice to know there are girls in the same situation locally. Gives me a lot of comfort!

Hi All,
Just a quick one from me as still feeling very uncomfortable after EPU ... We had 13 mature eggs and ICSI wasnt required as the scientist were more than happy with DH sample provided this morning .. so we are scheduled for transfer on saturday giving them the full 5 days to develop - this is all dependant on what they say in the official phone call tomorrow ... plus I am on the Crinone gel ..... get full instructions tomorrow ...
And I reacted to the drugs so mega heatwave, spent 5 minutes trying to strip away the layers and then I was also overcome with nausea while DH was off doing his part, poor nurse opened the curtain to find me being sick lol ...
All I can say is as a newbie to see the eggs etc on the screen for the 1st time, i was a bit overcome with emotion .... anyway will wait until tomorrow's phone call ....
Hi to everyone and all the newbies ... I will be back prob tomorrow with more personals .... too crampy to sit upright for long ...

Bubwishes, for me when I hyperstimulated the first time, AF arrived after 8 days. It was quicker because I didn't have to use the crinone. It's important that you rest, drink gatorade and keep a very close eye on how you are feeling. Straight to hospital if things get bad. I didn't follow my advice first time, and it ended up taking three weeks to recover. You should start to feel better once AF arrives.
As for how to do it differently... I'm told that I just need to accept that this is the way my body does this. If further stim cycles become necessary, they'll keep watching, keep monitoring trying to make it not so bad, but my PCOS means it's pretty likely no matter what. Hopefully with 8 blasties in the freezer, you'll never have to stim again. We got 4 the first time, two didn't thaw (unusually bad thaw rates, I'm told), the two that transferred both took, but both miscarried, unfortunately. And that's why we're doing another stim cycle...
It's a scary prospect, but it can be done. Good luck with your FET cycle to come and I hope you are well soon.

Melsta rest up heres hoping the rest goes well for you

Thanks Gals! I actually had 2 weeks off work recovering. Hyper stimulation kicked in exactly 1 week after my collection. Got AF last week. Feel much better but still a little weak. I am sooo glad they didn’t do a transfer.
Butterfly Warrior, do you feel that your 2 blasties took because your body was at rest?? I am actually looking forward to our FET cycle because I’ll be feeling normal!!! For a FET do they track your cycle and transfer around day 20?? I didn’t know they could transfer 2 blasties, I thought they only transfer 1…
-
They were both single transfers - I lost one at nearly 9 weeks, which lead to us discovering that I have auto immune problems. They other was a much weaker embryo and I lost pretty much on 4 weeks. Small amount of HCG present in final blood test... that one really wasn't pleasant! To be honest, I have no idea why my blasties took. I just knew inside that the first would, I knew inside that the second wouldn't (was rather surprised to get pregnancy symptoms, was unsurprised to get AF). With the first, I was relaxed, my stress levels were low... was rather different with the second. Stress possibly did have something to do with things, but I do find that I feel more confident with them working because my body is put through less stress in terms of drugs, hormones, blood tests, etc.
For a natural FET, they monitor your cycle and transfer when appropriate. For me, I have to take drugs to induce ovulation (I have PCOS I'm completely anovulatory without assistance), which will occur around days 18-20, and transfer takes place 5-6 days after that. Medicated FET cycles are very different, but I haven't experienced one of them so someone else will have to tell you about them.
Melsta, you've done well! I admire anyone who can go through EPU without a GA! Good luck for tomorrow's fertilisation news!

Hi everyone - Just wanted to let you all know that my BT confirmed I am 4w1d pregnant... now just  that this little one comes home! Now we just have to wait and see whether 1 or 2 stuck - and I cant have a scan with IVF or my specialist because it falls over xmas period, so just moving straight onto OB.
Thanks to everyone for your support through this time, I know I am a nutcase and you all put up with me
Sorry for lack of personals - I am sneaking this in before I leave for the day (naughty naughty :p).
-
Woooooooooooohooooooooooooooooo  congrats Mel, I am soooooo happy for you. This little one (or two) is coming home............Nicholas will ensure that it arrives safely in your arms

Sorry Sushee did it in a rush and forgot

It's ok hun, I thought you might have left work already so just did it for you. :)

Welcome brownbug dellydoo and bubwishes! I'm sure you'll find BB and the thread here and awesome place - I've only been here a little over a month and I certainly do!
YAY MEL1977!!! Brilliant news! So excited for you - hanging out to see whether you've got one bub or two hanging on!
Short one from me today - very drowsy still as EPU was a few hours ago.
9 eggs collected, ICSI required based on DF's sample quality today :)
I was so sore last night and this morning - I could barely stand up straight, just like Sushee, it seems.
Had to stop on the way home from procedure in the car so I could throw up - felt so much better for it! I always feel sick after sedation/anaestethic, boooo! On panadeine now, as have been quite sore since I woke up.
We won't hear anything now until tomorrow, and that will be to find out what time ET will be on Wednesday. My FS apparently had to dash to next appointment straight after my EPU, so I haven't even spoken to her yet. I won't know egg quality or fertilisation rate until I go in for ET where FS will sit and explain every egg to me. Feeling like I want to know about our little eggies and possible little embies now, but will have to wait till Wednesday... eek!
Melsta, you go girl! You got through it, and you got to see your eggies! Fingers crossed for good news tomorrow! Very happy for you!
BG, GL with transfer tomorrow, hun.
Pookie - we have such high expectations especially when we put our bodies through so much, but that is a really good result! I'm hoping and wishing for a wonderful result for you!
Thinking of you all,
Miss C
