    Hi ladies
Can I ask if any of you used any of these meds in ivf? They were prescribed prior to ET and told to stay on them for first few weeks of pg. My fs is on hols since my bfp so I haven't had a chance to ask him some questions about meds I'm on as I've read some of them are unsafe in pg.
    I'm on
    Clexane
    Prednisone
    Feldine
    Aspirin
    Oestrodial
    Ralovera

Just wondering if any of you ladies have taken these after ivf and your experience?

Bunnyfeet I was on clexane my entire pregnancy with DD but have never had any of the others so can't help there. Have a clotting disorder hence the clexane. Your nurse should be able to advise though

Bunnyfeet, even if your FS is on holidays, is there someone manning the phone in his office? They should be able to contact him to ask on your behalf.

As Joe said, clexane is a blood thinner and can be prescribed throughout a pg to prevent clotting issues which may cause m/c.

Prednisone is a steroid and is also often prescribed in early pg to treat auto-immune issues which may cause m/c.

Feldene is a NSAID (ie non-steroidal anit-inflammatory drug). Personally, I would be asking about that one because I'm not clear about the reason for its use and what effects it might have.

Aspirin is also a blood thinner, but works differently to clexane. I took low dose aspirin (100mg) while pg with DD, until 36wks.

Oestrodial is just simply oestrogen, so quite safe. Similar to progesterone, some women need extra oestrogen while pg if they aren't producing enough.

Dr Google tells me that Ralovera is progesterone, so that's fine. Most IVF patients continue progesterone supplementation until 10-12wks (although some, like me, stop earlier - I stopped at 6wks).

The only one I don't know about is the Feldene. If it were me I'd call the office to find out if they can ask, but that's just because I'm not familiar with its use in early pg. My FS also prescribes it for the luteal phase of my IUIs, so I suspect it's probably fine; I'd just be checking because I'm a worrier...

Thanks so much Joe and Juniper as always you're a wealth of information thank you!
Of course because it's Saturday there's no one in FS rooms until Monday yeah its the feldene I m worried about Juniper as it says its not safe in pg.

Bunnyfeet I'm so sorry I have no idea on any of them so I am no help to you at all but I really hope you find the information you need xxx

afm: I saw fs yesterday with the intention of getting an iui form for my period which will start the end of October but when I got in there and started
talking I asked for one for this month as well don't ask why it just popped out anyway she gave me the forms for this period as well as the end of October
one as well. My period was due on Monday but has just arrived at 2.50pm this afternoon, so my questions are do I count today as day 1 or tomorrow?
and What day do you usually start injections for iui cause I cant remember and I was supposed to pick up meds on Monday but will that be too late for
    this af?

Bunnyfeet, do you have a good pharmacy nearby that you can call or visit? Just ask to speak to the pharmacist, explain that your Dr prescribed it for IVF and now that you're pg you can't contact your FS to ask about whether to continue. They won't usually openly disagree with a Dr's prescription, but they should be able to run you through any risks (for either stopping or continuing). You could also see if there's anyone left at your clinic's main reception at this hour on a Saturday (probably a long shot) and you may be able to get help that way?

Rai, I'd probably call tomorrow day 1 in this instance to make things simpler for the IUI. I usually start injects on day 2 (after baseline b/t and u/s), so if you call tomorrow day 1, then you can start day 2... That said, if you called today day 1, there's absolutely no harm in starting injects on day 3! What you call today will make absolutely no difference to how you respond to the meds, so it's really a personal preference. My FS office would call tomorrow day 1 because my FS requires you to wake up with AF for day 1. My last FS would also call tomorrow day 1 because his cut-off was 8am. My first FS would have called today day 1 because his cut-off was 4pm. Even the professionals have their own personal preferences (in spite of having no AFs themselves, since they were all men!)...

Sorry Rai I've no idea about iui never did it but I'm almost sure you count tomorrow as cd1. GL with your cycle x

Juniper I looked up prednisone and feldene and prednisone is actually worse in pg (category D) and Feldene is cat C. No one left in Fs but I might try a pharmacy. Thanks again x

You can't stop prednisone cold. You need to gradually reduce your dosage over the course of a week or so. I took it for my last cycle.

I've never heard of a NSAID being prescribed for ivf. I've always been told not to take them at all

Yes, good point, prednisone must be weaned off when the time comes, but I know a number of women (online) who have taken it the entire first trimester because they needed it. Perhaps the risks are associated with later stages? That's another thing the pharmacist could tell you.

N2L, I'd always heard the same (ie avoid NSAIDs), but my FS has been prescribing Feldene for my IUIs (starting at 1dpo, from memory). I think the primary issue with NSAIDs is they can interfere with ovulation and prolonged use is linked to LUFS (lutenised un-ruptured follicle syndrome - where your body "ovulates" but the follicle doesn't actually rupture to release the egg), but there may be other issues. In some cases (eg endo), reducing inflammation can be quite beneficial. Since my FS also prescribes it with the prednisone/clexane combo, there may also be some way the three work together, of which I am unaware (and have been meaning to ask about)...

Good luck with this cycle rai.

Bunny- I hoped you managed to get some answers to put your mind at rest.

Kel, how was your scan on Thursday?

I am headed for egg collection tomorrow morning, after a shocking start to the cycle an increase of drugs and a couple more scans showed good progress so I am crossing fingers we get a decent amount tomorrow.

Juniper I hope your wrong and this cycle proves to be your lucky one.

    Hi to everyone else.

Hi everyone, I have been laying low a little lately but I have been stalking.

Mrs O M thank you for asking about me, my scan went ok but still not big enough so I had another scan yesterday and it was better but he decided to push pick up out to Wednesday. There seems to be only 5 follicles and only on the left side so who knows how many we will actually get and to think that is on the highest dose.

Good luck with your pick up tomorrow Mrs O M!!
