Loops - Is it worth going in for an appointment with your FS? You deserve to know what the plan of attack is. You are correct, three weeks is way too long. Do they think you have a viable pregnancy (FX!)? If so, you should be having another scan within the next week as you should be close to seeing an HB. If not, what are they waiting for, is it to see levels coming down, if so then surely a BT once a week? You may already know the answers to these, but if you haven't, start getting demanding as you deserve to know the plan of attack, if not the answer just yet as of course they may not know what the outcome is. You have paid a lot of money for this so you deserve some service to at least have a plan of attack (end of rant!)
Melttc - I didn't really know what an AA but from looking on the net it means it was pretty good, although I don’t know if it was hatching yet (didn’t think to ask as I prefer to know as little as possible. Not that I give myself anymore chances than any other month. My BT is next Weds I think – yours is a long way off, you have a very long TWW after your transfer?
MellyBelly81 – Hope the BT went well and GL.
Melissal – Hope you are back on the FET track very soon, I so agree with planning trips – we are going away in August regardless of what happens as I think us IVF’ers deserve something to look forward to regardless of the outcome!
CK77 – Hi and welcome. I took the injections about about 5 minutes before I put them in and found it was enough to make them a little bit closer to room temperature making them nicer once the stuff goes in. Half an hour before still wouldn’t ruin it unless you lived in an oven. It will tell you the recommended temp on the box.
Juniper – Hope you are continuing to feel better
Trubabe, Goodluck with everything, sounds like a tough time but you WILL get through it even stronger.
Mum2b – I also got 16 for my last HCG so spent a lot of time looking at betas. Have a look at betabase.info online and you can find that yes indeed, some pregnancies progress from a 16, but it depends on your dpo. Goodluck and I will have my FX for you.
JBM, Marcellus, Babytruj, Renee, Jilly, bj8, Trueblue (welcome!) – Hello lovely ladies, hope you are all doing well!
AFM – Nothing to report, feeling a bit better today, but otherwise just waiting. Haven’t rung up to find out if I have any frozen embies, will wait until after my BT next week in case it’s bad news.
Mum-2-be ~ Ive heard and read that it doesnt matter too much the first BT what the HCG is as long as it keep doubling I think every day or 2 days. It is still a reading so you're pregnant. As you probably know I was in the same boat. my first was only 38. If it has increased next one that is good, will have fingers crossed for you hun.
Did they do progesterone too and if so what was that. My P4 was only 2.6 extremely low.
Lairdoz ~ thanks hun, you are so right and I need to start being demanding as ive paid a lot of money. Thank you for reminding me, from now on its no more Mrs Nice.
Not long now for you, FX hun! Hope you're doing well in the TWW. xo
arrrrgggghhhhh the hospital has now changed mums surgery date from april 1st to april 15th 'due to unforseen circumstances". turns out its coz its easter weekend when she would be in hospital.just when i had organized DP to have the first off to drive me to coast.and now mum is nagging me that im not getting to visit her much. DP and i are back to sharing a car and he is being slack about organizing another one, so it makes it hard to get to mums over an hour away very often
Loops - OMG i can't believe you still don't have an answer! I'm with Laridoz. I would be ringing everyday till i got answers or I would be going elsewhere (if that is an option). I'm not sure what sort of facilities your clinic has or whether it is a large or small clinic, but either way it is ridiculous. They should be doing BT's every day or 2 to see what is happening there at least. I would definately be putting away nice Loops and bring out frustrated and anrgy loops. I will bet you anything they will listen if you demand answers, being nice sometimes doesn't get you anywhere. Sorry bout the rant but i'm frustrated for you
m2b - I will have my fingers crossed for you, unfortunately my BETA result was 19 and it was a chemical, however that doesn't mean it will be the same for you. Like loops said so long as it doubles by thursday, you should be all good. I did look up all that when i got such a low beta and it is possible to have a viable preg with a low beta like that.
Sorry i have no more personals today but i hope everyone else is doing great
ATM - i have a BT tomorrow which will be day 12 to see how hormones are going and then hopefully we will have some idea about when our little frozen emby can go in.
loops ~ !!! 3 weeks to wait for a scan is unacceptable!! I am getting angry for you too! Surely they can complete a scan or BT to confirm. I am just wondering if they were to request a scan would they be able to see and confirm anything at this point??? Not sure? Either way you deserve to know and this has been going on for too long now.
m-2-b ~ a faint line is promising...I wouldn't discount a BFP yet until Friday's BT. Goodluck!! I have everything for you.
trubabe ~ bummer about your mum's hospital appointment....hope your able to get around that one.
lairdoz ~ I have done some research into AA embryo's and this means its very good. Well done! By that standard I reckon my embies were a DD..he he. I was wondering when was your EPU & ET? My clinic tends to schedule the BT more than 2 weeks after ET. I wonder if they do this to avoid having to call you about a BPN when by this stage AF would have arrived which is what happened last cycle.
Hello to everyone else ...hope you are travelling well in your cycles, lap recoveries etc.
I can't believe I was stressing out about the injections, I've done two so far and they were both a breeze. Thanks everyone for helping with this. Can't believe I was being such a big wus!!! (melttc - figure this is how you felt!)
Is the constant headache normal? Had zero side effects on Synarel and just wondering if the headaches are from the Gonal injections?
Loops - OMG you poor thing, I hope you make some headway with the clinic so you can stop wondering what's going on!
Juniper - how did you pull up? Make it back to work today?
Mum2Be - which branch of QFG are you with? Want to see if my experience gets any better ;-) even though I'm in the early stages....
Lairdoz - so you're in the TWW after blasty transfer? - FX for you that it sticks.
Renee ~ good luck with your FET. Can't wait to find out when your FET is too!! Just out of curiosity, did your AF come at its normal time or did it wait for your hcg level to go down to 0?
CK77 ~ I go the Brisbane arm and see Dr Molloy. The ladies in his office are so wonderful. I think on Friday when I have my BT I will take them in some flowers and chocolates - they have helped me through so much, like the OHSS and the result yesterday - they were completely honest, even when it wasn't what I wanted to hear.
trubabe ~ hope your mum understands how difficult it is for you, and how much you are trying. Also hope that her operation goes well.
Lairdoz ~ thanks, but I have come to the conclusion that the 16 is probably the residue from the hcg shot I took last Tuesday. Just hoping for AF to come so we can try again with a FET.
Meltc ~ Thanks. I hope your coping well on the TWW. I would say that from now on, I am definately not going to cave in on the HPT. In my circumstance, I think it was the worst thing... how are you coping with it? btw, I also thought that your BT was much later than everyone elses ...
juniper76 ~ hope your feeling better now.
AFM ~ After a few tears yesterday I have come to the realisation that I'm out this month - 16 is just too low and probably just the residual from the hcg injection last tuesday. Just sucks going through the whole thing, epecially with the OHSS.
Oh well, I'm just going to focus now on the next step - FET. We have 4 snowbubs - hopefully one of which would love to become my little bubby!! So it's now a waiting game for AF to come!! I think I want it to come more than I did last month - if that's at all possible!!
Loops - I totally agree that 3 weeks in unacceptable and they cannot leave you hanging there for that long. You have to remember that you are paying for a service, I think that sometimes they play on the fact that we are all so desperate, and if you want a scan they should do a scan if it is going to make you feel better. The last thing you need is to be stressed for the next 3 weeks.
Sorry if I'm on a bit of a rave, they just make me cranky sometimes when they don't take into account emotions as well. Especially when they are the ones pumping us full of hormones.
M2B - the girls are right, as long as your beta keeps doubling every day that's all you need to keep focussed on especially since you brought your blood test forward a couple of days.
I was invited to join in the chat here. I am on my first cycle of IVF - on the synarel nasal spray at the moment (only had 3 doses so far). At this stage they are saying egg pick up will be around 12th April... assuming my body decides to do the right thing. I am using anonymous donor sperm (which feels weird in itself because I know so few details about the donor and I was doing AI with a known donor so I felt confident about the traits the baby might inherit but also about how the donor would treat the child if he/she ever went looking for their biological father. With an annon donor you really have no idea what you are getting - in terms of personality, or what your child might find when they are 18 and able to make contact with their donor).
Last year I started AI (donor insemination with known donor). Had 2 cycles where my body went a little weird and things had to be rescheduled but okay (both BFN). Third cycle my body went really weird. I ended up having 3 scans and the follicles just weren't developing. Let it go and it took 8 weeks before I got my period (ended up taking drugs to bring my period on). I was told most women have 1 or sometimes 2 non-ovulatory cycles a year and not to worry. The following cycle I decided to not take any drugs at all and let my body have a rest. It ended up being 10 weeks before I got my period. I let my body rest for the remainder of the year whilst I tried to find a local donor (I was using one from Interstate). My cycles finally settled down around Oct. In Jan this year I went back to Sydney for another attempt with my previous donor. I ended up having 4 follicle scans as my eggs weren't developing. Scan 1 I had a 12mm on the left, 3 days later it had shrunk and my biggest was an 11 on the right, next scan 4 days later that one had shrunk and I had a 12 again on the left which finally developed into 19 by the final scan before I drove to Sydney. I knew my body was responding to stress in my life at the time and therefore my chance of success wasn't great... but I still had my fingers crossed (had a huge fall out with long term friends of mine who caused alot of problems between me and my ex, as a result I was hardly sleeping or eating). On the positive side my parents had finally started acting interested in my TTC journey and were being supportive (previously they had known what I was doing but didn't want to know anything about it). If it had worked the baby would be due at a perfect time for me (after I had finished teaching for the year - I work for a university) so my maternity leave wouldn't be disruptive on any one. But alas... best laid plans and all that!
So my parents have agreed to lend me enough money for 2 attempts of IVF. If I'm not really lucky and fall pregnant in one of those attempts then I don't know what I will do. I've spent $3000 so far on my AI attempts and don't have any spare money now.
As far as we know I have no medical infertility problems (just stress affecting my cycles). My cycles have always varied from 4 weeks 2 days to 5 weeks 5 days, however 14 years ago I concieved my daughter naturally when her father and I were using contraception, only saw each other once a fortnight and were definately not wanting to be pregnant. Because of my periods varying in length it caused alot of confusion for medical staff related to due dates (at my first ultrasound they told me the baby was growth retarded but then at the 2nd one they corrected it and said she was just 17 days younger than they had expected from the date of my last period). I didn't have any early pregnancy signs and hadn't considered the possibility I could be pregnant - just thought I was having a long cycle until it got to around 8 weeks and I was feeling really tired and thought I should get my iron levels checked. Doctor asked if I could be pregnant and I said "well my boyfriend and I have sex but we always use contraception". We did a preg test and the doctor and I were both shocked when it came back positive. Although my daughter wasn't planned she was definately the best thing to ever happen to me. I was only 22 when I concieved her (so at our most fertile age) but the fact I got pregnant when all the odds were against it gives me hope that I will get pregnant again. I never wanted her to be an only child but her father and I split when I was 16 weeks pregnant (he's never seen her) and I didn't want to try to have another child on my own (was waiting to meet my soulmate first). Finally gave up on that idea in 2006 and started seriously looking into my options and then started my donor search in Dec 06. My daughter was not quite 10 when I started looking for a donor and now she is 13, and sometimes I think maybe she is too old now... maybe there will be too much of an age difference. I turn 37 in June and I wonder if I am getting too old mentally and emotionally to have a baby. I definately won't keep trying after this year. Just got to hope it works soon.
