Loops - thanks I know how cliched it is, but don't give up! I was really starting to feel that this whole process was futile for me, but things are looking up! I'm still feeling a bit in limbo - hopefully everything is good at 6 week scan and then it will sink in a bit more. Sorry to hear about your friends mum How awful.
