When you go over the medicare threshold you can get a safety net summary from medicare and include it in your tax return... as it is saying that you have had high medical costs.....

if you register for online medicare - you can check online and print off a tax statement which you can use in your tax, and it says how much you have spent for the year (I checked mine the other day.... and it was scary!!!)
Hey girls, just to let you know, the amount you can claim was reduced in tuesday budget so LTTTC'ers get screwed again. It used to be you would get back 20% of anything over $2000 you were out of pocket. I think it has changed to 10% of anything over $5000 (need to check) from 1 july this year. So worth trying to get as much into this financial year as possible. J.
