Bec - Yes had the scan this morning. As I had a stuff up with my injections for the last 3 days he's upped my dose. All is on track though. EPU is still looking like Friday but could be a possibility of Monday.

I have another scan on Tuesday and make the call then. I'll be more excited then I think.

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. That is very sad news. It certainly put things into perspective.

AFM - DH and I had a talk last night and he has banned me from buying OPKs because i can never get a postive (even when i do ovulate lol) and they are a waste of money! lol And then we talked about the temping and how im losing sleep over it atm because i am waking up at odd hours and the clomid is making me have really crap sleeps with bad dreams etc!! So we have decided on this round of the clomid i will not temp either! I put my thermomoter in my bedside draw and we are going el natural! lol!
I feel better this morning not obsessing over temps etc.

I have not had much SE this round with the clomid, except for the tears, and the hot flushes (tried to strip off in target before lol) and i have learnt how to hold onto my angry mood swings, though it does give me a tension head ache! lol
Ok so i am still getting SE, i am just better at managing them this time around!! :)

Anyway, time to go do some work ... if i can find some! I am very ahead atm!

Bec - looks like i'm leading the longest cycle this month!

AFM....nothing to report here. Progest results were very low this month 1.5 - which is rubbish! CD 33. Partner is due to hand in another sample of his little guys. How come it seems so difficult for him to organise time off work and do the deed, when I just go along and show off my bits and get things poked and prodded without any hassle! Rant over. I think FS is arranging for a procedure for me which involves putting dye through my bits... I know it has a fancy name but can't pronounce or spell it! I think the 2 WW takes forever, although I can never tell when I ovulate anyway so I probably think the 2WW is actually closer to a month.
Anyway, moan over. Heading to get my hair done this afternoon. Hopefully should perk up my mood.

I think egg quality is an issue, which reading on the BB forum can be helped by diet & exercise. So back into the swing of things this weekend.......

I found using OPK's & temping messed with my head a bit. Just DTD in the times & hopefully you will catch that egg, GL

Claudette - It is similar to IUI but I don't think they wash to sperm, just insert it in - IYKWIM. I have another appt on Tuesday to find out the whole ins & outs of it all, so will fill you in then :)

Oh Rhi at least they are starting you again on your journey, that way hopefuly it won't be long till you get another BFP.

Kris, I wasn't doing the temping thing as of the sleepless nights, and I never got into that part. The OPK tests, I did last cycle, but I'm not this one, as I know when I need to DTD as I will be having a trigger shot.

Ahurani just keep thinking positive about why you are feeling that way :)

Jules, you are I seem to have a similar problem. all of my m/c have been just on or just over 5 weeks, and I've been thinking about egg quality myself. Do you know if they check egg quality if you do IVF? GL for Tuesday, I hope they are proactive and can give you some answers. My FS ordered my recurrent m/c testing, and a saline ultrasound. YOu can go to the recurrent m/c clinic at the royal women's I've heard, you just need to be referred by someone (GP/FS).

Thanks everyone for you kind words about my friend. She is in her 50's and she's been like a mum to me over the past 10 years (I lost my mum when I was 14, also to cancer). She threw my kitchen tea for me, and made my wedding veil, paid for me to get a spray tan and my hair coloured a few days before my wedding as a surprise, all of those nice things that nice people do, I guess. She just doesn't dserve this, but then who does?

Sounds like everyone needs a huge hug. My brothers best friend of the last 20 years passed away last week from a stroke :( His funeral was a couple days ago. My heart goes out to anyone who has lost a close family friend/relative suddenly like this.

Hope - I had bleeding with my first pg through to 18 weeks, chin up sweety its more common in healthy pg than you could imagine. FX for good news. :)

Regarding the "Are you pregnant yet?" from everyone whilst ttc, so many times I felt like jumping down the throats of these people screaming "If we try any harder we would never leave the bedroom, you intrusive, ignorant, rude sack of s**t!" But all I could muster civilly was "We dont want children yet" Its easier to not go there with every person I spoke to on a day-to-day basis.

AFM - I have been in superwoman mode all week. The company I work for moved this week and its been crazy, packing up 12 years of files and equipment was hell and I am so glad I have a day off to recover and spend with the family. Still waiting on AF, fashionably late as usual!

Just popping into ur thread.. Ive got a question that hopefully u guys can help me with.. actually i have a couple. First have any of u noticed whilst being on clomid that around O time u get really sore and tender in ur lower pelvic area?? Im not really sure where my ovaries are but Im assuming its them that are sore?? Its basically the whole way across tho.. I noticed it last cycle too. Is it normal?? I start thinking i have that overstimulation thing happening but i dont feel bloated or anything.

My second question is.. This is my 5th cycle of clomid, I started in Nov last year.. the 1st one i did I was a bit oblivious as to when i wld O so we missed it altogether, the 2nd round I fell pg but sadly m/c'ed, the 3rd was 4 months after the m/c but i had progesterone pills to bring on af then i took the clomid but my hormones must have been all stuffed up cos i bled the whole way thru O time, last cycle we didnt fall pg and now there will be this cycle.. (FX it happens this time tho) I know the gyno told me when he prescribed them to me that if nothing happens after 5 cycles then stop taking them cos obviously there not doing the job.. but i did get pg after the 2nd cycle so im not sure if i shld continue taking them or if there are bad side effects of prolonged use?? Have u guys heard of any problems?? The reason I am on clomid is because after taking the bcp for 8 yrs my body got lazy and wldnt do what it was meant to do! Im a bit scared to stop taking it incase my body still hasnt learnt how to O by itself! But i dont want to risk getting any bad side effects if i continue to stay on it.. my gyno gave me 5 repeats for it which equals 10 cycles.. not sure if he meant to tho?!

When I was on clomid the first couple of times I did have that pelvic pain you are describing. You won't overstim because clomid isn't a FSH where it produces multiple follies. You may produce a couple but not what FSH is designed to do.

Did you have a natural cycle after your M/C? I found after mine I had a natural cycle where I did in fact O naturally. I've had the same bleeding that you have had after my M/C for the last 2 cycles thankfully this cycle (IVF) I haven't had that bleeding.

I've done a total of 8 cycles of clomid and had no side effects other than the normal moods, hot flushes etc...

The reason they like you to do 4 cycles on clomid is because if you haven't gotten UTD by then your not going to and you need to look at more agressive treatments and/or investigations like a HSG or Lap. In saying that though I fell UTD on my 7th cycle (cycle after lap which resulted in M/C) so it can happen.

I think it is up to you and your Dr as to how many cycles you are prepared to do.

I agree with Porsche- I have bad lower ab pain around o time. Actually it's the way I gauge when I am 'o'ing. The chances of hyperstimulating on clomid are very low as Porsche said.

I found myself in the same boat as you regarding how long to take clomid. I have now done 10 or 11 cycles (I've lost count) and I have fallen pregnant 3 times and m/c each. There are a few risks to staying on clomid long term: thinner lining making implantation harder, poor quality CM etc, which is why the suggest moving on with something else after 5 or 6 cycles. I was like you, and argued that it was obviously working, but unless the pg is sustained they count it as a non event (heartbreaking but true). There are other options available to you which might work better for you.

GL with your decision. Talk to your FS about it, and he might suggest giving it 2 or 3 more rounds. The choice is, in the end, your to make based on the info you are given.

Hi Ladies

Well we had our scan this morning and it showed about 6 follies. I'm a little disappointed because they may not all be mature at EPU and then we have to contend with fertilization rates and possibly lose some there as well. I was hoping there would be a little more there.

We are planing on EPU on Monday with another scan this Saturday to see how they are maturing. My lining is good and up to the required thickness. We've also upped my dose of puregon.

So there is no sign of OHSS at this stage and I really don't think it will be anything I need to worry about with 6 follies.

Porsche 6 follies is a good number at this stage, i think with sheree she only had a few follies on the day of scan then the next scan a couple days later she ended up with 14 good ones so fingers crossed you get a few extras :)

Keli i have two due dates - my IVF date is november 4 and ultrasound dates are november 7 so first week of november. She is going well im feeling her more and more now but hubby is too impatient to wait to feel her kick. Enjoy your scan tomorrow im sure everything will be fine and there will be happy tears :)

I think i have decided to stick with clomid for the next couple cycles.. i just dont think i cld risk not O'ing and then having to take progesterone pills to bring af on etc. I had a 3-4 month break from it after my m/c so hopefully that was enough rest for my body!

And porsche no i didnt have a natural cycle after af.. i probly shld have tho. After 10 wks of nothing happening after m/c i took progesterone pills, bled very lightly for 2 days about a week later, assumed it was af, took clomid, but then got the proper af during what was meant to be O time. I think my body was just saying to me 'Let me do what i gotta do!' It was also during that time that I drove 500ks to get to DH when he was away at work cos i cldnt let a chance pass me by.. but ended up bleeding the whole time! Defintely my body telling me to just go with the flow! :)

I actually think i cld have pcos or atleast pco.. i have only had 4 proper afs since going off the bcp in may 09!! I had an ultrasound done which came back saying i most likely had it but then wen i saw my gyno he said my hormone levels were all fine and its really hard to tell with the scan.. so i have no idea! Oh well ill just keep plodding along hoping for the best!

Sorry if i missed you other ladies! I have been out of action atm because im tying up a few loose ends at work. I have tomorrow and the next day off as im going up to victor harbour to visit a friend. Well surprise her actaully! She is 32 weeks pregnant and has an "irritable uterus" so her body has tried many a times to evict her little bub! The doctors have managed to keep him in, and they wanted to make the 32 week mark, which they have! So now its just a waiting game to see when the baby will be born. Her mum is throwing her a hasty baby shower and called me, so as i mentioned, im going to surprise her! I had a dream last night that i surprised her so much she went into labour! :rofl: so hoping that doesn't happen!!
Anyway, i can't remember what CD im on atm because i have stopped temping and counting days, done wonders for my stress levels! Last night i had some strong pains in my ovaries so DH got jumped! lol! But im thinking i will O on friday or saturday! So it will be a dash back from victor to get to hubby! LMAO!

Anyway, time for me to go! I will pop back in this arvo and do proper persies!!

I'm doing ok jabbing away. I put a dirty big bruise on my belly this morning. It's all purple and splotchy and about the size of a 10 cent piece lol.

I can't figure out what i did differently. It coould have been because DH put the needle tip in the fridge with my pen. So I guess it was the fact that the needle was cold. Won't make that mistake again hehe. Wait untill DH see's it.

I think the jabbing is doing something as i'm all crampy today.

Thanks MissKris. You never know what you can do until you have to do it. I'm not a sqweamish person so I think that helps. But I do it quick so I don't have time to think about it. It's jab hold for 10 secs and take it out lol All over and done in about 1 minute if that hehe.

Porsche, oh you brave thing jabbing yourself, nice work on the bruise, hopefully no more though ok? Yey for cramps IYKWIM, hopefully that is a GREAT sign.

AFM: So had our scan this morning and phewwww, big sign of relief. Everything is looking perfect (no extra digits from what we can see at this stage Miss Kris, he he). I have been very stressed in the lead up to this that I haven’t been able to sleep very well. A few reasons I’ve been stressing. Firstly the nature of LTTTC, I just have this horrible fear that because we have waited so long for bubs to come along that something will go wrong, silly I know but I can’t help it. Also one of the lovely ladies in my other forum who was pg with twin boys from IVF went to her 20 week scan only to discover that both of them had passed away (sorry to upset anyone), their blood got mixed up and they died a few days before the scan. And then thirdly a guy from works wife gave birth to their baby boy last week and he has to have open heart surgery as his heart is around the wrong way. So with all these horror stories I have been a little stressed.

Anyway, all is well so hopefully I can relax a bit now. Tummy is very sore now as they poked and prodded for over an hour. I had to go for a walk 3 times (ran up 5 flights of stairs on the third attempt) in order to get bubs to move in the right direction, it wasn’t cooperating, he he cheeky little thing. Couldn’t be happier though.

Thank you for all you support, you ladies are just wonderful, I don’t know what I would have done without you.

I found that my bruising was random. They looked horrible like i had been beaten up but they didnt hurt which was good. Glad your going good with them though, makes it so much easier :)

Keli - i live in gippsland about 1.5 hours drive from Clayton. Because im classed as high risk the hospital down her said they wont deliver me and i need to have bub at Monash Clayton. They have accommodation attached to the hospital which is only $90 a night between hubby and i and we get either $37 a night back each or between us so much cheaper than a hotel.

Keli - Awesome news, I am so glad that your scan went really really well, I hope you can relax and enjoy the rest of your PG. How aweful re: the horror stories, doesn't help your state of mind :-( Just remember those scenarios are rare. Half way now hun!!

Porsche - 6 follies is pretty good. Two of the girls I know who have done IVF finished with 6 follies and of them they both had one perfect one (went on to conceive beautiful babies) as someone said all you need is one perfect one. Good luck with the rest of your cycle, I hope you get your BFP this month.

Kris - I am so glad to hear you sound so relaxed. I think giving cycling, temping etc a break is a really good idea, I think that when you least expect it that BFP will bite you!! Enjoy your couple of days away, the break will probably be good for you too and I am sure your friend will be soooo pleased to see you!

Bec - How are you going hun? I hope that you are doing OK. I think it was you that asked the question about IVF and egg quality. I think they only pick the best follicles to fertilize. I don't know a lot about IVF but I am pretty sure that's how it works, so presumably if you are concerned about egg quality IVF would definitely be really good for you. Don't want to preach, but maybe you should try kakadu juice too.. I think this stuff is amazing and could really help with egg quality...

Jules - I am sure it will be a bit before you are back on this forum regularly, but I just want you to know we are here and you are on our minds. I know this is an aweful time for you and we will be here for you when you are ready to come back. Big hugs babe!

Reet - Big welcome, I hope your stay here is short. These girls are such an amazing group of women, so strong and thoughtful and will certainly help you with your journey as there is so much friendship and support in this thread. FX that this is your cycle. I think re: the number of cycles you just need to make your own mind up as to how many you should do - My endo said he only wanted me to do 6 cycles as being on the drug long term can be detrimental to your health i.e. can cause cancer (but my endo said that this mainly happened in countries like USA where it is un-reggulated and there is women taking it for 15 years)... But I think that you just need to do your research and see for yourself. Seems like it does work for you (since you got a BFP on the second month) so FX for a sticky bub!

Sorry I haven't been on more - had a busy few days at work and just relaxed in front of the t.v last night.

Went to the FS yesterday & it was a strange appt. We were suppose to go there & have a brief chat about superovulation & IUI (SO/IUI) with the FS then have an appt with the nurses to go through the injections etc.... BUT I mentioned the m/c he sent me off to have a whole heap of blood taken for full bloods & Beta HPT. He did an internal examination, which confirmed my cervix was closed & the u/s showed everything was 'normal' (I knew that from last week!). He said that there is no evidence of a pg! I nearly fell off the examination table - ummmm I know I was pg & I know I m/c! Anyway he wants all these bloods to come back to decide what we are to do - he also heads the recurrent m/c area in Monash Clayton & may send us for testing. Of course we expressed our concerns about doing SO/IUI and m/c to which he replied that the egg quality is better than 'natural'??? So we have counselling next week then suppose to have an appt with the nurses but are seeing him on the 16th August as well, so am going to clarify if we should see the nurses or just wait til after seeing him - so long & drawn out & confusing atm.... feel like we are going backwards! Anyway sorry for that rant/vent!

Rhi - What a very strange visit. What makes him think you were not UTD? The better egg quality could have something to do with all the meds you take while cycling but I'm not 100% sure on that.

I would be very confused with that appointment as well. Most clinics ask you to see the nurse before you see your FS and start any treatment. I think it's so they can go over the treatments and make sure you understand what is involved. We had to do that. I think it's standard procedure. We don't have to do counceling in QLD.

We I mean I still have lots of B/T's lol. But our first visit consisted of lots of B/T's. I think I had about 6 vials taken lol.

Tammara - I too have found the bruising to be random. Appart from my dirty big one I have 2 little ones oh and another dirty big one on my arm where the FS took blood. It's a doosey too.

Oh yes Tammara, that rings a bell. So why are you considered high risk? Is it cos it’s an IVF bub? Great price on the accommodation, that is awesome. It will be nice for you to have DH with you also.

Pumpgirl, nice post but I wanted an update on you? How far along? Are you having a scan soon? Any symptoms? Do tell all!

I have a few things against me - age, weight and ivf - because i used an egg donor there is a high chance i may get pre eclampsia. Plus we have LOTS of diabetes in my family so i also think that is a concern also, i hve had one glucose test with no probs and had another one on the weekend so im hoping its all right.

Well good luck hun, I have everything crossed for no pre eclampsia, diabetes and for a safe arrival of your gorgeous little girl! I cant believe how close it is now. I remember when you fell pg, sooo exciting!

Hi girls! Sorry I've been MIA, I got a new student at school with a gamet of issues, and after being hit in the face, sworn at, told I was mean and hated, threatened with scissors and generally disrupted in any way shape or form, I've been coming home and going straight to bed after tea!

Keli- Yes, I just got your message today. So sad for Sarahrach, send my condolences. Thanks for letting me know. So glad your scan went well and bubs was looking perfect. I can't believe you're 20 weeks! Half way...:)

Porsche- I don't know much about IVF, but 6 sounds quite good! Good work on not overstimulating! I hope your scan goes well on Sat and then EPU! How exciting! I found the bruises to be random too, although I always kept the needle tops in the fridge and I only had one really bad bruise. Just another joy of TTC hey?

Jules- What an odd appointment! After my last m/c the u/s lady (who was a horrible cow, BTW) said she couldn't see any signs of a pg either, and by my calculations I was 5w 1d along. How odd?! At least your FS has ordered all the tests by the sound of it, so at least you can rule out some things for your superovulation cycle (Is it just me or do you imagine a little egg wearing hot pants and a cape? No? Just me then...:)) Intersting what your FS said about egg quality. Hopefully all goes well, and the cycle is fruitful! I reckon your next appoitment will be great cause it's on my B'day and I'll send all my wishes your way for a good one!

Pumpgirl-Thanks for the kukadu juice tip (is that a type of grass, I'm pretty sure we just covered the school oval in the stuff (maybe I'll just go and pick some off the oval!) That was my understanding of IVF too, but I'll ask the FS whne I go. How are you feeling at the mo?

Reet- It's possible you do have PCOS, you have similar symptoms to me. I took the BCP for 2 months and bled the whole time and then after I stopped taking it, no AF for 15 months! I've not had a regular cycle since then. to be classed PCOS you need to have at least 3/4 of anovulation(not ovulating), ammenorea (no periods), cysts on ovaries, skin tags, excessive body hair. HTH

Tammara- Nov doesn't seem that far away! Wow, that is amazing. It's great that Monash offers accomodation; my friends baby is in the NICU there at the moment and she said they are amazing, so you'll be in the best hands.

Kris- enjoy your visit to see your friend! Good idea to have a relax this cycle, it can only be beneficial to you I think!

Hi everyone else (I'm sure I've missed someone!)!

AFM: Well I'm on CD 11 today so I've finished clomid and just waiting for o. I felt odd yesterday and actually thought I might be oing! Way too early for me! The o test last night show a faint second line, and I thought it wouldn't show anything, so that was weird. I'll keep an eye on it anyway! Just waiting now to see my new FS which is on the 23rd August, and I've decided NO MORE CLOMID! We're moving on. We've just passed to 2 year mark at the end of JUly, and that's long enough. So we're madly saving our pennies for IVF, just in case.
I will update the list again, if you could all post where you are at the moment,

Bec - Oh my god, sounds like things are full on for you at the moment, sounds like you have a really challenging job hun!! RE: Kakadu juice is essentially a superfood juice that is made from a combination of some wild Australian fruits and other super fruits from around the globe. It delivers a super high dose of antioxidants & vitamins. it is more of a medicinal dose i.e. 1L will cost approx $70, but you will only need 30ml per day. If you google it on the internet it will have more information on the food and studies etc. I think that this product has so much merit as some of the fruits native to Australia (i.e. Davidson Plum) have an even higher antioxidant level than a whole cup of blueberries.

Sweating really bad at night, nauseousness and bloating. I have started having AF type cramps, but no spotting or anything. Am trying to remain calm, but am pretty worried that something is going to happen. I am 5 wks and 5 days today. I am getting a dating scan on the 16 August (so a week and half) I can't wait to see the heartbeat and know everything is OK.

Bec - OMG ferral children! I feel for you cos teaching is sooo much tougher than people realise. GL with catching that egg & GL for your upcoming appt with the new FS. I definately think no more CLomid for you too!

AFM - I called Monash re: bloods & the HCG is nil, so that is good then I called OBS/GYNO office re: HCG taken when I started m/c & the level was only 24, so I never actually progressed at all in that pg, which is a little weird. In the past my levels have been spot on to when I started m/c so this one shouldn't have even been a pg by the looks of it... am a little confused. Anyway am keeping my SO/IUI appt & counselling for next week & then see what the Prof. says on Monday 16th - I don't think he will suggest anything else other than SO/IUI & I have requested the HCG bloods to go to him from OBS/GYNO so he can see that I was pg but it just didn't progress & see what he says to that.... probably nothing :S

Pumpgirl, yey for bb’s growing and yey a scan on the 16th, cant wait for you to see that little heart beating, best feeling eva. Oh and try not to stress about the cramps, I had exactly the same thing at the start of this pg, I totally thought that AF was on her way just running a tad late, I had the cramps for weeks.

Jules, how very frustrating and confusing for you hun. Hope your next few appointments sort things out a little better for you.

Liz, yeah getting some good movement now which is the best thing. Just a constant reminder that bubs is growing nicely. I love it! As for the pg announcement at your work, arrrrrr I feel your frustration hun. I still can’t stand it when ppl tell me they are pg and weren’t even trying, or got pg on the first shot, they have no idea what we go through. Do keep trying though, it is totally worth the wait. Sending big hugs your way!

Hey I had an idea for you ladies. Reet has a ticker for her cycle down the bottom, not sure where she got it but thought if everyone could put one of them in their signature then it would makes things easy to keep track of, just a thought cos I know how confusing it gets.
