Hi girls!
I got my all my medical records from my old FS today and was having a bit of a look through them and picked up a few interesting inconsistencies. At both my first m/c and my 3rd, my progesterone was 1.9nmol/L. By the looks of it, that's very low, even for 4 weeks UTD? Does anyway know anything about progesterone? I am just wondering becasue my Dr never even mentioned anything?

I hope I am not intruding but I would love to get some advice/information from you guys. I have just started my first round of Chlomid (serophene). I am taking 100mgs and I am on day 4. This is the first step in what I hope will be a short assisted conception journey!
I have posted about my "issues" elsewhere on these forum pages but basically, I am 39 (biological clock ticking loudly - I have an 8 year old but have been trying for another for a couple of years now), I have PCOS, Adenomyosis, endometriosis (My FS suspects but not confirmed), etc, etc :rolleyes:
I am seeing Dr Kate Stern at Melbourne IVF and she has been really good so far! She wants me to do three cycles of chlomid, then go straight into IVF. It has kind of happened in a blur so it is a little overwhelming.
The chlomid isnt as bad as I thought. Slightly queasy a couple of times but nothing bad. Reading some of the posts on this site and it seems 100mg is a high dosage. Did anyone else start on this??
I was also thinking it would be better to try more than 3 cycles before moving onto IVF. Has anyone got any advice around this??
I would love to hear from anyone who can help :)

Hi n2l and welcome! You would be most welcome in this thread. Many of us have been here for sometime, and all can offer you support and advice about clomid.
I'm glad you said Kate Stern is good becasue I'm waiting for my first appointment with her!
Most people start on 50mg, but by my second cycle I was on 100mg and I have been ever since, so I wouldn't worry. The chances of Overstim. are much lower on clomid than other fertility meds.
If clomid is triggering a good response, your FS might give you an extra cycle or two, but hopefully you'll fall pg in the first rounds and it wont matter!

Bec my progesterone levels starting from about 4 weeks were:
25/2 - 9
1/3 - 21
7/3 - 31
they were low levels but i think this was due to ivf.
Rhi, hope you get some good results from your blood tests and they can give you some answers to your m/c and there is a simple solution to get your bub. Im going to TRY and post now
Thanks Bec! Yes, I am finding Kate good. She is direct and no BS. Which I like. She is rushed (obviously very busy) but I was referred to her by my oncological gyno - Professor Michael Quinn (from the Women's) and he is an angel so anyone he recommends must be good!
PS the BIG question....where did you find an other half who is "perfect in every way"???!!!! ;)
Hello n2l and welcome to our thread :) Hoping you fall pg on Clomid and you don't have to worry about doing IVF. Sounds like your FS is on the ball. I was on 50mg on CLomid & the progesterone levels were good on that level so I stayed there but unfortunately didn't fall pg.
Bec - In relation to your q re: prog levels, I have no idea but I think that Dr Kate might suggest taking/inserting progesterone to sustain a pg if it is of a concern. I remember asking my OBS/GYNO about that & he said it's sort of a catch 22 b/c your prog levels start falling as soon as you start m/c, so if they check your prog levels it may be a not so correct reading anyway - if that makes sense. Sometimes it is too darn confusing :S

I got a copy of the FS letter that he sent my GP & it says he will be testing for recurrent m/s, so that is good to know.

HI all, sorry for the quick one yesturday, had to get back to work otherwise in deep s***. My day didn't get any better and continued at when I got home at 6:30. Dh was on the phone and had been for some time and nothing had been done with dinner, so I had to make it (sorry prob not that bad, but not with the day I had). Any who, so had dinner watched TV for a bit and then went to bed. I don't know when DH came to bed, as I was asleep. He asked me before going to work this morning if I am feeling better and was going on (cranky arse b*****, I reckon he was thinking with the tone of voice he had). Yes I am feeling better was just having a bad day, hoping today is good, only a short shift today and it is fri, so always makes things seem better. Anyway, to get onto some persies after that little rant (sorry).
n2l welcoome to this wonderful thread, I can't tell you enough how much support and the great advice these ladies have to give. 100mg, isn't a high dose, I went up to 150mg before changing to what they call a Modified Cycle. DH and I only had 3 cycles of clomid as well, due to it not doing a damn thing to help me ovulate and our FS doesn't think it will, we decided to move forward to the next step. Hopefully the clomid will work for you and you won't have to worry about IVF. GL hun.
Keli, that is so cool, I just cant wait to be feeling that. With the ticker idea, I was going to do one of those, but my cycle isn't exactly easy to follow, due to having to have provera to bring on AF, so it is all over the place for one of those, so that's why I have my anniversary on mine.
Bec hopefully your new FS will be able to explain it all, if not I would just come out and ask her what the levels mean. No harm in asking I reckon, they are there for help and support and to answer our questions. Hopefully you o over the weekend and will be able to spend lots of time in bed ;)
Rhi that is good news that they are going to test you, hopefully they will be able to find out why and then soon you will have a sticky baby. GL DTD over the weekend, lol.

Nothing new to report here on my cycle, still waiting for AF to show herself and it better be soon. I am going out of my mind here just waiting for something to happen. I don't know what is going on with me, my moods have been like a yoyo going up then down, and I'm not on any medds at the moment hahaha, just can't wait for them to start and see how I go. I think DH might be spending lots of time downstairs in the garage working on the cars, when I am on the clomid and injections, lol.

Just quickly on the cycle suggestion. As my cycles are never the same length a ticker wouldn't work for me. But I have my FF chart in my sig and that is always up to date on where I am in my cycle.

I have a couple of questions hopefully someone can help with...
I have read clomid doesnt work well for women with PCOS...I have PCOS so it seems counterintuitive my FS has put me on it. Has it worked for others with PCOS on this forum??
I cant remember what my FS said at my appointment on Monday (d'oh!) but my last clomid day is today. I have an appointment for a scan on Wednesday. I am pretty sure this is to see if follicles are stimulated (correct me if I am wrong). If all is well re: follicles, do I have the injection (not sure exactly what it is) to induce ovulation there and then?? Or is that a few days after???
My "normal" (yeah, right!) cycle is about 45 days at the moment (it changes all the time). How long after the injection will I ovulate?
Apologies, my brain is custard and, apparently, I was not listening closely enough to my FS when she explained it to me.

Welcome N2L, of course you are welcome to join in here, it is a wonderful forum, filled with even more wonderful ladies that are a world of knowledge. Hope you get what you are looking for here. Yes I too think that 3 cycles is not very long on clomid, I thought most FS’s wanted you to be on it for 6 months before moving on to the next stage, perhaps your age is a factor though. Are you being monitored via BT’s to make sure you O this month? Hope your stay here is short and sweet. As for Clomid and PCOS, I have PCOS and conceived on Clomid after a lap earlier in the year, so don’t think it’s an issue. So much info can be so confusing though. Sorry what did you mean about your question ‘finding another half who is perfect in every way’?

I think it has to do with my age (the shortness of trying clomid). I actually just got a letter from my FS which says I have "surprisingly good AMH and FSH". I dont know a lot about this but I think it is good.
LOL I am starting to feel really old all of a sudden.
In answer to your other questions, I am not sure about the blood tests. I am having a scan on Wednesday so I guess it depends on what shows up there.
Unfortunately, due to the fact the FS says I have "latent PCOS" as opposed to "frank PCOS" she wont put me on metformin. Apparently my blood sugar is too normal!!! lol. At least something is!!!
The statement about the perfect partner thing was in relation to Bec's signature which refers to her DH as "perfectly perfect in every way" (or something like that!!) I was just asking her where did she find him!! lol Mine is perfect in a lot of ways but I am not sure in EVERY way....he has a couple of small faults!!!!!! lol

I know Keli, I think it's because they aren't going through what we are physically. And yes I had a better day, except for 23 crazy kids driving me nuts lol.A Modified Cycle is similar to IUI. Once AF starts I have to take 50mg of clomid on days 2-6 (to get things started), then on day 7 or 8 I go back to the FS for an ultrasound and to start FSH injections. I then continue to have the injections every morning and to go in to the FS for u/s and BT's to monitor the size of the follies and how many there are (any more than 3 and they will cancel the cycle). Once they are 18mm I then have a "trigger shot" of HCG which should make me ovulate. The next day they usually do artificial insemination, but as my DH has no issues, we have to DTD that night as O will occur the next day (after the HCG injection).The wait is then on for 2 weeks and then have to do a POS test to see if I’m UTD. The FS said that there is a 10%-20% chance of getting a BFP and a 20% chance of multiple births.
I hope this has helped you and I haven’t babbled on too much, but there are lots to do when AF finally shows herself.

Hello n2l and welcome! I hope your stay here is short :-) This is a great forum full of awesome women who are supportive and very knowledgeable.
For your question about PCOS and clomid, I have PCOS and was very lucky to conceive on the second cycle (25mg CD2-6). I didn't have any scans so I am not sure if she would give you an injection I only took clomid and had CD21 progesterone test.
Sounds like you have a good specialist, perhaps you could give her offices a call to confirm the processes you will be going through - no doubt it is common for people to forget... my specialist made notes as he was talking and gave them to me (luckily, as I know I would have forgotten too).

I promise you I am not stupid! I think once she said IVF and made the first appointment for six weeks time, everything else kind of washed over me. I didnt expect IVF so soon. To be honest I dont think I (we) had even really thought about it properly, hoping - maybe even assuming - that the clomid, etc would be all it would take. :rolleyes:
Oh well, nothing to do but wait and see.
Something a little different though. Not to share too much information (sorry if it is!!) we DTD last night (practice run ;) ) and, while not painful, I was very uncomfortable in the ovary area. Even this morning I have a dull ache in my lower back, pelvic region.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is it a sign of anything particular??
The first day of my last AF was 26 July so I guess this makes me CD 13.
My scan is CD 17.

EPU is booked and set for Tuesday. I've got about 12 follies YAY! About 6 in each ovary. So ET is 3 days later. Got to give myself 3 injections tomorrow and then we are done until ET.

AFM - Nothing to report personally. I have just found out my gf husband has been cheating on her since March & they have seperated. The really sad thing is, she is 22ish weeks pg & it is an IVF bubs. He would have been cheating either when they started IVF of just after. What an a$$hole. She is on her way over now for some girly time & to get out of the house - she doesn't want to stay at her house :(

Secondly AF is still MIA but Im not pg :( I done a test yesterday just to be sure and it was negative. On the brightside I see my new fs on thursday and at least I can show him that my cycle is as bad as I told him last month (He didnt believe my charting skills :wall: I miss my old fs) Anywho its great to see everyone is still hanging in there with their ups & downs. AFM: I've just been to visit some friends who have just had a baby and they let me hold him for an hour, which was lovely, although I have a very sore arm now! He was so tiny and perfect it made me want another one so bad. I was very proud of myself becasue I didn't cry, m/c number 2 would have been due about now, and I was worried I wouldn't be able to handle it, but I guess we all surprise ourselves sometimes!
Hubby has been reading up on IVF (just in case!) and he's very concerned that it will be painful for me. I told him that compared to labour I'm sure it will be a walk in the park! Nice that he cares though.
I should probably go to bed, I'm exhausted!

N2L, I too am like Pumpgirl and only had CD21 progesterone tests to monitor my cycles, so sorry but I can’t be of much assistance here. Don’t stress about forgetting what the specialist say, there can be soooo much information to take in sometimes, the only reason we know what we’re on about is because we have been doing this for quite some time. GL. PS: Please don’t feel old at all, you’ll fit in just great here, age is only as old as you feel. As for the pain, could you be O’ing? Maybe it was perfect timing that you DTD, FX.

Uhm ... who was it that asked about the Prog levels? I think, from what i can remember, its what keeps your temp up, and sustains the preg, and when the levels drop, it signals the body to shed the lining, hence AF. So if you were having worries about low levels your doc can give you some prog tablets, or suppositries. (sp?)
Annnnnnd i think it was Rhi that mentioned about her friend being cheated on! What a lying dirty scummy pig! I cant believe that, especially since they were going through ivf!! :hug: to your friend!
I had a good time in victor visiting my friend, i am on CD18 today, i think i O'd on the w.e because i had some pains, but i have noticed they have not been as bad as round 1, but my hot flushes have gotten much much worse this round. I keep getting them! Very frustrating!
I have a CD21 blood test on thursday to check if ovulation occured.
Anyway, best be off and catch up on my work!

Just a quick one from me. Hope you all had a good weekend. My GF has kicked out her, what can be a 'nice' term here...... umm, lets just say husband cos legally he still is.... and she is going to raise their baby as a single mum. Her mum is going to resign from work & take over when my gf paid leave runs out (about 6 mths she'll have) she is also going to try to pay him out & keep the house. Her Aunt is going to help her. She has also looked into what he'll have to pay for child support etc.... I think she is still in denial & angry cos there have been minimal tears, so we are just waiting for her to break down :(

Oh she still sounds very angry, but at least she is getting things sorted, so when she does break down, she will have to just cry and cry and not deal with too much carp, if that makes sense?
Maybe she won't break down at all ... this baby could be what helps her move up and on with her life without too much drama?
She sounds like a strong woman and i am sure i am speaking for everyone when i say that we are all sending her strong, healthy, healing vibes! :)
here here Kris! Hugs to your friend Jules, she sounds very together. Of course she's angry, she's been betrayed and lied to, as well as left high and dry with this growing baby belly she's probably been waiting for for so long! Wish I knew the guy, he deserves a good swift kick up the old wazzoo!

I think we need some BFPs this month - it always cheers me up and makes it feel more possible for the rest of us! I've just had a letter from my fs with an appointment for my hysterosalpingogram - if only I could pronounce it! Been googling it - doesn't seem too bad or am I wrong? Any advice to make it easier?

Keli - Nah i didn't surprise her into labour! Lol! But she was very surprised to see me and so excited! She has a huge baby bump on her atm! She got some good news from her doc and he said the baby is fine, she has made it to 32 weeks and he is happy if she goes into labour from now until when she does, he thinks the baby is fighting fit and strong. However, he said, if you go right through, it would be excellent! And he would prefer it if she did! :)
Pumpgirl - I am very relaxed, however those dreams are still as vivid as ever and leaving me exhausted when i wake up! Last night i had a dream my DH was the CEO of Ferrari and my primary school best friends mum wanted her son to be CEO cos they are italian and we aren't! So she kidnapped Steve and i was fighting to find him, but i was in another country so i had to catch a bliming train! :P Very weird!! I woke up running, thats two nights in a row now! :P *sigh* i want to take some drowsy cold and flu tablets just to ensure a dreamless night sleep...but i know i will soon wear myself out and crash!!

Too any one I have missed I am sorry but so much has happened while I have been away I will need time to catch up, lol.
AFM - Well we travelled out to Longreach for my uncles funeral last Friday. It was prolonged because the coroner didn't even see his body until nearly a week after he died which meant that the family couldn't organise anything as they didn't know when he would be released, stupid government systems. Was very emotional and draining but am glad I went as it gave my Mum a bit more support. My cousins all wrote and read letters out at the service, don't know how they did it as it made me cry just looking at them (He had 5 children and 6 1/2 Grandchildren), and DH got a bit teary too when my male cousin read his letter out, probably because he is so close to his dad. The wake was good as they had a slideshow of photos and it got his friends and family telling stories about him. My grandma was telling us how she was dirty at him for beating her to the grave and then he stole her song too (Hallelujah by KD Lang), made us smile that she could still come out with that in such a horrible time for her.
Anyways that is enough of the morbid talk. I am currently CD39 and still waiting for AF to show. Getting very annoyed that I had three 34 day cycles and the last 2 have been (well I am guessing this one will be too) 40 plus. I have an appt with my Dr on the 19th so maybe he can make some sense of everything. My chart is all over the place too so that isn't helping. Hopefully someone will post a BFP on here soon and cheer me up.

Porsche, I am anxiously awaiting an update from you, hope it all went well hun. So does this mean egg transfer will happen on Thursday? Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrr you could be UTD before the end of the week. I am sooooooo excited for you. Do you know how many they will put back in? I’m trying not to get my own hopes up, but it is so hard, cant imagine what you are going through hun. Hope all is well.
