    Quick Question

    Hey guys,

I got my hcg back for today and it was 5000. Last thursday it was 4000. The nurse said this was good, but aren't they supposed to double? They booked me in for another BT on Friday and I was pretty sure this was supposed to be my last... can anyone tell me, is this a bad sign?

Sorry no persies, I'm at work and stressed out

    Hi Minime,
I'm so sorry you are stressed - it's preparing you to be a Mum already isn't it!

I know from my extensive HCG googling over the last couple of days that HCG numbers can slow down and speed up again, so unless they are worried, don't stress. They def. slow down as the numbers get higher too. If you are really worried, please make sure you call the nurses to tell you what they think as often I find they just repeat what the doc says then if you ask them, they will give you more info and their thoughts on it which can be good given their experience. I hope you and I make it into the pregnancy forum soon heah?

WHY??!!!! 3 days from transfer and i have had some blood! i try to tell my self its nothing and things could still be ok but i dont know i guess i have that gutt feeling and i know its not good to bleed! i dont get life, i feel completely lost at the moment and honestly dont know how much more i can go through before this destroys me and my marriage. I know there are women out there that have been through so much more, 8, 10 rounds im only on my 3rd but i guess when you feel you have put everything into it and your only 23 with no issues you start to wonder if its really ment to be? Im sorry ladies for being so selfish im just so down with everything going on at the moment i just dont feel like its ever going to happen.

MM HCG can slow down the further along you are and i believe when you hit 20 weeks of somthing it starts to decrease. I usually have sevel BT for about 3 or 4 weeks then a scan then a referal to a OB, hospital, ect so no they dont need to double i had a great link to a site which expalains it all i will post if you want to see?

1d86, try not to stress about the spotting yet (easier said than done), it could be implantation? I started IVF at 22 yrs of age, dont give up hun xx

    Hi Loula and Lairdoz,

Thanks for your replys. Loula, I would love to see that site if you still have the link. Lairdoz, you are always so calming. I'm going to call the nurse in the morning (the one that I usually see) and have a chat about it. She was the one that called me for my other two tests and was always so optimistic. I just HATE waiting!!!

1day86 - I think it might be too early for you to tell. Take it easy and see how it goes. I had REALLY heavy bleeding the day I found out I was pregnant and 2 days later my numbers had doubled, so there is still a chance for you.

All of those going for their BTs soon - good luck!! FX'd for all of you.

Just one more quick question... If my progesterone is low, can this effect my HCG but then when it goes back up it will right itself? Thanks guys again fro your support.

here is the link HCG - Human Chorionic Gonadotrophin Level Doubling Time Calculator - Preconception

on this at the bottom you will see that the doubeling rate changes as the pg goes past 4 weeks. eg: a HCG readinng above 1200 can take up to 96 hours to double

with regards to p4 my FS was always happy with anything over 50

    Hey chicks,

Things are happening so quickly in here (very slowly on the outside though).

Terry and Lairdoz - I will be thinking of you tomorrow and sending lots of positive vibes your way. Hope you can get some sleep tonight!

Minime - fantastic news! If the level's going up then it must be growing in there - nothing else can be making your hcg go up. I don't know what levels are normal for each stage, but you had a serious bleed which must have slowed things down, but now it sounds like it's back again. I agree that you should call the nurse and have a chat - any info will be helpful (rather than just our speculating in here).

T4aF - Woohoo!!! Congrats girl. If you were at my clinic they'd be testing you today. At least when you have your BT it should be a very clear BFP with no grey area. Good luck hiding your smile till Friday!

Lisa and LMM - hope you're both hanging in there! I haven't got any symptoms either. Last time I was certain that I wasn't UTD and it turned out I was (too briefly). So, I've only learnt that my gut instinct is not to be trusted. Hope yours is more reliable than mine.

Yogi - wow - 2 cozy little embies in there. Hope they do as they're told and don't get up to any mischief over the next two long weeks. What date is your BT?

1d86 - it's not over yet. You (all of us) are under a lot of emotional stress and on a lot of strong hormones, it's really hard not to get REALLY down at times. Don't ever feel selfish for the way you feel. Yeah, of course there's always going to be someone in a worse situation, but that doesn't mean you can't feel totally ripped off about your own situation. I can't change things for you but just know that we're all here for you. It might feel like it'll never happen but it WILL, really

AFM - I'm not going to POAS. If it's neg then I want to live in 'maybe land' for as long as possible - it's frustrating here, but not as devastating as BFN land. It makes it harder for the nurse when she calls though. I think if she rings with bad news I will make up a reason to get off the phone asap. They're always so lovely and kind and it just brings me to tears. And if it's good news I'll talk her ear off.

I POAS again (one day since the last time), trying to miss my hands and all, in a dark toilet at the chiropractors of all places, and the 2nd line was darker. WooooHooooo.

Kaybee - yummy. Hope you enjoyed your cake. Your nurses sound so supportive. Here's hoping you are going to talk their ears off. Good luck for Friday.

Lairdoz - yes, we are programmed to be very conservative about the whole process, Guarded, don't want to disappoint ourselves!! I get sick of walking on egg shells though and everynow and then decide to stop fighting the roller coaster and go for the ride.

Hi Yogi Bear - yeah, join the bunch here, and let's all see each other in preg. forum in the near future

    LittleMM - when's your BT?

MiniMe - waiting again. Sending you more hugs. How many days between your numbers 4000 to 5000. If you had twins and one didn't make it, that would make the numbers slow up.

oneday86 - Each round of IVF is just as intense as any other. Please don't be so hard on yourself. We don't really have much control over the process. Our thoughts and feelings being +ve or -ve is just so normal. And just because you are 23y/o doesn't make it any easier. And as for marriages, that's why they are there, for these tough times. It's your husbands job right now to be there for you. Make sure you ask for it.

Good luck to everyone. lots of stickys and BFPs

    Hi ladies,

Time - A big congratulations to you hunnie, you must be so happy

Kaybee - I understand wanting to live in maybe land. I do POAS before BT but it was reluctance. I can't face the nurse call without a heads up. Hoping it all goes well for you.

Minime - hang in there hunnie, I know it must feel really crappy right now. Crossing my fingers that everything goes well for you. You do have some good indications.

Oneday - you're not selfish, this is a tough ride, any LTTC is tough. The bleeding is not necessarily a bad sign and could be from a variety of factors. I had a couple of spots in the first 2 days after transfer. The nurse told me that it could be from EPU, from ET and that crinone is known to have a tinge of red. It could always be early implantation. I know we seem to be alert for things going wrong, but it could actually be something going right.

LMM - I have a pack of HPT in my cupboard as well but aren't game to even test yet. I don't have any symptoms either. Hopefully we will be both by a symptom free BFP which you hear about!

Terry - GL today, you are brave not POAS ahead of time. I"m a coward and need a heads up.

AFM: been feeling pretty down, and guilty for feeling down because I know many of you have had heaps more cycles than me. I guess I just don't feel pregnant yet again, and am beginning to wonder if it will ever happen for me. Anyhow, I know I'm just feeling sorry for myself and have really only just started IVF and probably need a reality check as it's unrealistic to expect success the first time around. Okay, time to pull myself together and go on to work.

    Hi ladies

Well the test is done and now I'm waiting I must admit that I caved in last night and did a POAS which was negative so I think I know what the nurse will be saying when she calls. My only hope is that because I did it really late and my sample was diluted it may not have picked it up. I feel so bad cause I cried last night and I wouldnt tell DH why I was feeling so negative about things. I didn't want to burst his bubble and not give him hope for today

    Hi Everyone,

Well just a quick one, I'm out this round. Started spotting last nightso poas this morning & it was a big fat glaringly BFN. As hard as it is, I'm looking at the positives in that we had 4 lovely looking blastys for the freezer, which we've only ever had one or two in the past. Good luck every one else I still have my fingers crossed for all of you xxx

Hi ladies well no miracles for me I'm out for the month. Just spoke to my FS and although time is not on my side I'll be giving my body a break from all the drugs for a month and concentrating on getting healthy again before having another go sometime in late July early August. I'll pop back in to hopefully see some more of you realise your dreams

    Reposting here

I acidently posted this in the pregnancy thread - would love your lovely ladies advice.

    Hi all,

not been here for a long time - I just had a positive HPT and blood test today (HCG 167) but the clinic has told me I have low progesterone and oestrogen and I have been bleeding on and off with cramping for the last 12 hrs. I had 2 embryos transferred 13 days ago. I've increased the crinone and taking oestrogen tablets too. Whats my chances of a viable pregnancy? The nurse at the clinic didnt sound very positive.

    thanks

    Hi buggirl,
I'm not sure about this, but I thought estrogen levels are supposed to be really low?? If your progesterone picks up quickly, I'm sure you are still in with a chance. I had really low progesterone during my TWW and I still got a bfp, so I assume it can hold on for awhile. As for bleeding, I have been bleeding for the past week and I am still technically pregnant, although I might not be the best person to give advice, because I think I may have lost my little embie with a really heavy bleed this morning. I've got my FX'd for you, try and stay positive!

Terry and LMM - I'm sorry about your negative results, Terry hopefully a little bit of time off will get your body prepared for a BFP next round.

1day86 and TFAF - Congrats on your BFPs. I hope you have a happy and healthy 9 months ahead of you both.

Lisa B - I think that group hug was in order! Hold in there. I was really negative about my TWW wait and I got a positive result.

Lairdoz - any news of your rising hcg yet?

Sorry if I missed anyone, hope you are all well.
