Hey Cazz, honey! Glad to see you back - I just decided to show my face again around here too and like you are going for another cycle (FET) to start in about a week or so....

Fingers crossed we both get out of here and drag a whole stack more with us

    Hi Ladies

    Cazz - welcome back

lil_chookie - hope Santa wrote that down

Meredith - how is the tww coming along??

Me, I started clomid this morning and have been waiting all day for some exciting side effects but nothing has happened, so it's been a bit of an anti-climax really LOL. I am ready for the bd fest to come, my pre-seed arrived so now it's like I am in a mini tww waiting for ovulation. I really must stop pinning so many hopes on clomid, I have completely put aside everything that the specialist said about giving it a go and hoping for a miracle, on the flip side I am nothing if not the eternal optimist. Also counting down the days for DH to see the andrologist this week.

Hope everyone is well and enjoying the weekend, good to see so many back on board and especially all the bellies on the avitors (is that how you spell it) it really perks me up!!

    OKay a question!
What is the difference with a flare cycle compared to a down regulation cycle!
I know you dont do the pill part! is there any other differences?
What about the cost of it(Im at MIVF if anyone has any idea) does it change?

I havent responded very well on the down reg cycles. will a flare cycle be any different?

With a flare, you start your Lucrin/Synarel on CD1 and your FSH on CD2 or 3. It makes your cycle closer to the 'normal' 28 days - it happens a lot quicker than a 7 week down-reg!
For me I had Gonal-F on my down-reg cycle in August. Had 17 days of it before EPU. For my flare, I had Puregon and was ready for pick-up in no time. Mind you, I still only ended up with 3 eggs each time but I was 43 8-[
I'm not sure whether it was the cycle type or the FSH type or a combination of both but I much preferred Flare as it didn't drag out so long. I have heard of a few ladies who don't respond to GF. My doctor swore it made no difference but even admitted after I went off so quickly with the Flare he felt it was the Puregon.
The cost was no different at IVFA North.
I'm not sure what criteria clinics use to determine cycle protocol - I had a Flare because I asked - Sushee's last cycle was a flare.
I'm sure others out there know a lot more than I do - Sushee, get your backside front and centre please.
Good luck Cazz, can't hurt to try something different!

    Hi ladies

Well I have been taking Puregon since Thursday after 2 weeks of down regging, so so far am running according to the book, which is good. I've got a blood test tomorrow morning and they'll tell me to up my dose or not accordingly.

Suzi I was interested to see you have tried both Gonal F and Puregon. I was on Gonal F first of all and got a good response 18 eggs 16 fertilised but no positive, and this time the dochas put me on a slightly smaller dose of Puregon. What are your thoughts on the difference between the two. The nurses tell me that there is no difference but it seems that women have noted a definite difference.

Jane I really hope the clomid works for you.

Hello to Meredith, Lil chookie, Cazzoom and anyone else I've missed xx

    Hi Sararms
Yes, my doctors and the nurses at the clinics all say that Puregon and GF are exactly the same, but I think different suppliers. I'm not sure whether it was the drugs or the protocol but I certainly responded a lot quicker with Puregon.
With GF I had 7 follies but only 3 eggs and ended up with only one 2 cell emby at ET which was 2 days after epu.
With Puregon I got 3 eggs from 3 follies - all at around 20mm (I was happy with that at my age). All fertilized but the third didn't make it past day 3 after epu.
    So :smt102
I know there are a couple of ladies in here who said they didn't respond to GF but maybe the same goes for Puregon? I guess they're the same drug but they must react differently with our own body chemistry.
Stick with whatever works for you I say!

Yeah it's interesting! I had heard that Gonal F is a natural product made from hamsters and that Puregon is synthetic and therefore more stable which might account for the fact that a lot of women say they do better on it. Like you I don't know yet. Since this is the first time I have been on Puregon, I will only be able to compare after this cycle. Obviously if its a positive I'll think Puregon is the best thing in the world!!

thanks for your response anyway. I hope you are well as well, I've followed your story on BB xx

It has gone quiet again, and I get stage fright when it gets like this 8-[

Well I had my last dose of clomid this morning for this month. Still haven't had many side effects. Been a bit teary at times, but then I am the sort of person who cries when life insurance advertisements come on the TV,so not sure if I can blame clomid or not. I also got my "discreet" package of pre-seed in the post so we are ready to go...again. DH is off to the andologist in the morning so at least we might get an idea of what can be done in terms of the swimmers.

Sararms - how did all of your blood tests go?

Meredith - are you stil tww-ing? hope you aren't slowly going around the twist

I hope everyone else is well.

BTW - I upgraded to platinum and I am very chuffed about my avatar, especially the hair, even DH thinks it looks like me.

Jane - OK, I can't stand it any longer, I've tried and tried to figure it out since I first saw you refer to it and I just have to ask....

    What on earth is pre-seed?

LOL Suzi - pre-seed is "fertility friendly intimate moisturizer", and really expensive. I think it was $18 for a box of three applicators and basically they say one per BD  . So hopefully things will be a tad more "comfortable" IYKWIM. Apparently the regular "intimate moisturisers" have a spermicidal effect, I asked my poor chemist all about it the other night and he looked as though he wanted to dart out of the shop on me.

Sorry, can only manage a quickie right now as busy this week.
Jane -just wanted to wish you best of luck with the magic preseed and hopefully you will not need the IVF appt or anything to be "done" about DH's swimmers. I didn't have any ill effects from Clomid either although I know a few people who hated it.
Cazz -best of luck to you too. You have had a horrible TTC journey from the sounds of things and I hope this time around is much, much better.
Yes, I am stil in the TWW. 11dpo today and i am going crazy. very, very anxious that AF is going to rear her ugly head this weekend and that we will be back into treatment. Can't believe just how slowly this week is going but then part of me just doesn't want the time to pass in case of bad news. At last i still have a little bit of hope at present -IYKWIM!!
Why does it all have to be this hard!!

We had the appointment this morning for DH and he is thinking about having the procedure done for correcting varicoceles. I am a bit sh*t off about the whole thing as now we will have to wait to have that done, then wait four months to see if it works and there isn't much evidence to say how effective it actually is. The specialist then said if it doesn't help we would be looking at IVF in October. I honestly think I will go insane by October. Better go, I am tearing up and sitting in the middle of my office at work.

Bit of an edit now I have calmed down, DH is really positive about the whole thing and this way he feels as though he is doing something to help as he sees it as his fault so I am leaning towards supporting him on this one, although this whole process is starting to get to me a bit.

Meredith - Positive thinking, AF is NOT going to come and you are going to get the BFP you deserve!! Hope the days do not pass to slowly for you, I know exactly what you mean.

Jane - Positive thinking for you too lovely You are not going to have to wait until October for IVF because you will have your BFP long before then.

As for me, still don't know where I am at in cycle??!! So I can't drive myself to crazy this month. I have just changed my shop around and I am really tired (would kind of like to sneak out the back for a nap on the couch - but I can't!!). I put some photos on my photosite, check it out ladies and tell me what you think (you can get to it by clicking on the www under my profile).
