Hey ladies hope everyones week is going well and everyone is recovering from their laps

just a quick update, had my and my cousins ultrasound today my lining is going well its at 9mm and they say that is good so positive there. unfortunately my cousins folicles are only at 9mm so cant go ahead monday. Does anyone know the recomended size folicles should be for egg retrieval? when i was doing IUI they told me 16mm but the ultrasound man today told her 10mm, confusing.

She is having another ultrasound monday so hope they are growing nicely over the weekend, the positive thing about it is she has about 19 folicles on one ovary and i forget how many on the other side - this sounds like alot to me so fingers crossed they all have a growth spurt over the weekend.

    non night

    Hi ladies

tammara I've got my fingers crossed for you that you can go ahead on Monday.

20094me - how did you go with your lap? Hope it all went well for you.

Porsche have you recovered OK from you lap? I'm completely fine now, although I have a bizarre small heat rash thing around the spot in my belly button where the FS made an incision. I got the FS's bill yesterday which was $850, so I'm hoping I can claim a fair bit back.

DH flew home from NZ on Tuesday - the same day I started having O pains, so made sure we DTD. I O'd on day 20, which I'm happy about as I thought the lap would throw my cycle off completely, but it only delayed O by 1 day (I usually O naturally around day 19). So lets hope this time we get a BFP as my tubes would be squeaky clean at the moment. I'm tossing up whether to do clomid for my next cycle or to just have a natural cycle that is a bit longer than 'normal'. I hate taking clomid! Hmmm... guess I'll make that decision if / when AF arrives.

    Hi Mez Moz

I'm all recovered from my lap. I could have gone back to work Wednesday lol. I still have the bleeding. I hope it's not going to interfere with "trying". My belly button is a little tender and it has been bleeding a little but nothing to worry about. This is going to be a TMI question but did you have any clots post op?

I'm taking clomid as per FS instructions but other than that I have no clue. I've got an appointment with QFG on the 17th so I'm hoping for a second opinion.

How come you had a bill? Do you have PHI? I'm a little worried I'm going to get a rather large bill now lol.

FX you got that eggie. That would be great if you did.

Hi Porsche, glad you had a good recovery. As for the TMI question, yep, I had very light bleeding for about 10 days and it wasn't heavy enough to interfere with DTD. I didn't have big clots, but I wouldn't be too worried about clots unless you bleeding increases substantially. I think it's just the leftovers from the surgery.

As for the $$$, I went private and have PHI, so I had to pay $250 when I was admitted to hospital and then got the bill for $850. I'm going to go to medicare on Monday and see if I get some back. I'll let you know how it goes. Let's hope tha lap works it's a lot cheaper than IVF! We have been saving up for IVF just in case we need it, but it would be good to spend that $$ elsewhere if possible.

    Babydust to you!

Hi ladies! I've just started back on Metformin, so I thought I'd pop in here and get to know everyone

I was on Metformin about 4 years ago, but it made me so sick, and the symptoms didn't go away - diarrhoea, nausea etc for 3 months straight, not nice! New GP has put me back on them, at a super low dose, ie I'll end up on 500mg twice daily, but he's got me to start on 250mg once every second day, to hopefully 'sneak up on it'

I don't care how slow it is, its got me hoping again - I've even started taking Folic Acid again!

So, some of you have had laps recently - sending you 'recovery' and 'fertile' vibes A question, how did you get a referral for your lap? I've asked my GP and he won't, and I asked my former FS and he wouldn't either...so just wondering if I need to do it myself in the backyard, or theres someone else I should be talking to?

For anyone on Clomid, is there a weight limit before it'll be prescribed? I am fairly overweight, and have been told in the past that Clomid has a higher chance of a multiple pregnancy - I understand that I'm already a high risk, but would that stop me from being able to take Clomid at all?

Looking forward to getting to know you all!

Hi berenice - welcome! This thread has been wonderfuly supportive on the rollercoaster ride of TTCing.

In answer to your questions about laps and clomid. My FS recommended a lap as we had been trying for 18 months and 2 rounds of clomid hadn't worked. Perhaps you need to find another FS if you want to have a lap?

I'm not sure about weight issues with clomid but yes it's true, there is a higher risk of multiples. I think my FS said instead of having a 2% chance for twins naturally, you have a 7% chance of twins on clomid. You can get ultrasounds to advise how many follicles you have if you are really worried about having twins or more. DH thinks twins is the ultimate two for one deal, but I would be much happier to have one at a time!

    HI Mez Moz

Leftovers that's so funny. It reminds me of leftover dinner in the fridge.

Well now I'm half expecting a bill in the mail lol. I also had a 250 excess and I have PHI.

FX the lap works. It would be a load off of the mind and the wallet.

    welcome bernice

only advice with the metformin i can offer is to make sure you definately take the tabs with food. i also had the upset tummy and my bum and the toilet were best friends when i took them without food. i also am a big girl but i had no probs getting the clomid. for the girls looking to lose weight i got some excellent advise and it really does work, if you dont have any carbs after 3pm it helps with the weight loss. i lost about 3kg in a month, not a HUGE amount but better than nothing. that was before christmas though i need to get off my but and get back on the wagon.

have a great weekend everyone, i have decided this weekend is all about meeeeeeeeeee hubby will be working away for the next month (coming home for the ivf) so i will have plenty of time to do things around the house no more rambling night
