Hi Porche, I was told to see my gyno in 4-6 weeks after my opp, but I have booked in to see her earlier in the hope that she has my biopsy results by then, I will call the day before to confirm.
Hi guys,
hope you all well.
Porsche, I'm glad the lap went well, hopefully it will be smooth sailing for you and Mez & Keli now after your Laps. Recover well girls. Kim, good luck with your lap, hopefully answers will be found!
Tammara, IVF is coming up fast! You must be ridiculously excited and I'm sure just a bit anxious. Fingers crossed for you!
AFM- Confirmation at last of why I keep miscarrying! I know that shouldn't be exciting, but it can be fixed. I do indeed have a uterine polyp of 11mm long and everything else appears normal, except that my initial 'sort of' diagnosis of PCOS has been confirmed. FS wants me to book in for a polypectomy (hilarious term I think) ASAP. Now Ive just gotta pluck up the courage to ask FS if I can stay on Clomid for a few more rounds, since without it I don't o at all. Sorry about the ME rant!
So, recover well those of you who have recently been surgerised, and Good luck to all others,
Bec
lots of positive things happening in here, lets hope there are lots of BFP's in the near future.
I would be excited about finding the reason for the m/c also bec, hope the polypectomy works well for you.
thanks heaps for the best wishes from everyone, i am getting very excited but also anxious and trying not to get my hopes up but its very hard even hubby has hopes up i think. we were in target last week and ended up looking at baby thingswas realy sweet seeing him realy look at stuff not just the usual hubby "yeah thats nice lets go now"
Hey ladies hope everyones week is going well and everyone is recovering from their laps![]()
just a quick update, had my and my cousins ultrasound today my lining is going well its at 9mm and they say that is good so positive there. unfortunately my cousins folicles are only at 9mm so cant go ahead monday. Does anyone know the recomended size folicles should be for egg retrieval? when i was doing IUI they told me 16mm but the ultrasound man today told her 10mm, confusing.
She is having another ultrasound monday so hope they are growing nicely over the weekend, the positive thing about it is she has about 19 folicles on one ovary and i forget how many on the other side - this sounds like alot to me so fingers crossed they all have a growth spurt over the weekend.
non night
Hi ladies
tammara I've got my fingers crossed for you that you can go ahead on Monday.
20094me - how did you go with your lap? Hope it all went well for you.
Porsche have you recovered OK from you lap? I'm completely fine now, although I have a bizarre small heat rash thing around the spot in my belly button where the FS made an incision. I got the FS's bill yesterday which was $850, so I'm hoping I can claim a fair bit back.
DH flew home from NZ on Tuesday - the same day I started having O pains, so made sure we DTD. I O'd on day 20, which I'm happy about as I thought the lap would throw my cycle off completely, but it only delayed O by 1 day (I usually O naturally around day 19). So lets hope this time we get a BFP as my tubes would be squeaky clean at the moment. I'm tossing up whether to do clomid for my next cycle or to just have a natural cycle that is a bit longer than 'normal'. I hate taking clomid! Hmmm... guess I'll make that decision if / when AF arrives.
Hi Mez Moz
I'm all recovered from my lap. I could have gone back to work Wednesday lol. I still have the bleeding. I hope it's not going to interfere with "trying". My belly button is a little tender and it has been bleeding a little but nothing to worry about. This is going to be a TMI question but did you have any clots post op?
I'm taking clomid as per FS instructions but other than that I have no clue. I've got an appointment with QFG on the 17th so I'm hoping for a second opinion.
How come you had a bill? Do you have PHI? I'm a little worried I'm going to get a rather large bill now lol.
FX you got that eggie. That would be great if you did.
Hi Porsche, glad you had a good recovery. As for the TMI question, yep, I had very light bleeding for about 10 days and it wasn't heavy enough to interfere with DTD. I didn't have big clots, but I wouldn't be too worried about clots unless you bleeding increases substantially. I think it's just the leftovers from the surgery.
As for the $$$, I went private and have PHI, so I had to pay $250 when I was admitted to hospital and then got the bill for $850. I'm going to go to medicare on Monday and see if I get some back. I'll let you know how it goes. Let's hope tha lap works it's a lot cheaper than IVF! We have been saving up for IVF just in case we need it, but it would be good to spend that $$ elsewhere if possible.
Babydust to you!
Hi ladies! I've just started back on Metformin, so I thought I'd pop in here and get to know everyone
I was on Metformin about 4 years ago, but it made me so sick, and the symptoms didn't go away - diarrhoea, nausea etc for 3 months straight, not nice! New GP has put me back on them, at a super low dose, ie I'll end up on 500mg twice daily, but he's got me to start on 250mg once every second day, to hopefully 'sneak up on it'
I don't care how slow it is, its got me hoping again - I've even started taking Folic Acid again!
So, some of you have had laps recently - sending you 'recovery' and 'fertile' vibesA question, how did you get a referral for your lap? I've asked my GP and he won't, and I asked my former FS and he wouldn't either...so just wondering if I need to do it myself in the backyard, or theres someone else I should be talking to?
For anyone on Clomid, is there a weight limit before it'll be prescribed? I am fairly overweight, and have been told in the past that Clomid has a higher chance of a multiple pregnancy - I understand that I'm already a high risk, but would that stop me from being able to take Clomid at all?
Looking forward to getting to know you all!
Hi berenice - welcome! This thread has been wonderfuly supportive on the rollercoaster ride of TTCing.
In answer to your questions about laps and clomid. My FS recommended a lap as we had been trying for 18 months and 2 rounds of clomid hadn't worked. Perhaps you need to find another FS if you want to have a lap?
I'm not sure about weight issues with clomid but yes it's true, there is a higher risk of multiples. I think my FS said instead of having a 2% chance for twins naturally, you have a 7% chance of twins on clomid. You can get ultrasounds to advise how many follicles you have if you are really worried about having twins or more. DH thinks twins is the ultimate two for one deal, but I would be much happier to have one at a time!
I am very overweight and I had to fight for my clomid but I got it
I am still trying to shift this weight but with PCOS its not easy
Mez- lol at ur DH mine says the same thing but I would be perfectly happy with just the 1 lol
AFM: I have been off cos the damn internet company cut us off and I had to go through papaers and stuff to make them put it back on to prove I paid the bill
I did have some good news, I had a blood test last friday to see if I O'd but my doctor was away over the weekend however he called me on Tuesday and told me I was mid cycle and yes I O'd
This is big for me cos I dont O usually so I am happy that clomid is working
I am on day 5 past O so a bit over a week and I will test
Its torture waiting lol
Hope everyone else is well
Hi guys,
welcome Berenice. Hope Metformin does the job for you this time, and you don't get so sick! I'm also very overweight, and FS didn't mention my weight, he just prescribed Clomid and sent me on my way! I did get my follies check for the first few months to make sure I disn't end up with triplets or something! All good, only 1 major follie each time
I'm so glad you girls are recovering well from Laps. I'm booked in my the 'polypesctomy' on Wednesday, which is much quicker than I thought it would be! Hopefully recovery is quick because I can only take 2 days off work!
Spreading the UTD vibes to you all. Good luck!
Bec
welcome bernice
only advice with the metformin i can offer is to make sure you definately take the tabs with food. i also had the upset tummy and my bum and the toilet were best friends when i took them without food. i also am a big girl but i had no probs getting the clomid. for the girls looking to lose weight i got some excellent advise and it really does work, if you dont have any carbs after 3pm it helps with the weight loss. i lost about 3kg in a month, not a HUGE amount but better than nothing. that was before christmas though i need to get off my but and get back on the wagon.
have a great weekend everyone, i have decided this weekend is all about meeeeeeeeeee hubby will be working away for the next month (coming home for the ivf) so i will have plenty of time to do things around the houseno more rambling night

Morning ladies,
Hope all is well with everyone!
Tammara, fingers crossed that your cusins follicles are going nuts this weekend and growing out of control I am so keen to hear how it all goes for you, please keep us up to date.
Porche, so glad to hear that you have recovered nicely from your op. My bleeding lasted for a few days but I'm pretty sure that mine was infact my AF too, will find out tomorrow as I had a blood test on Friday. Good luck with your BFP very very soon :-)
Bec, Good luck with your op this week, sending your quick recovery vibes. Hope it all goes well. So what's the plan after this? Is it straight back into TTC? What has your FS said? Sorry about all the questions, just interested.
Got1want1more, that is fantastic news that you ovulated. It's so nice you find out that at least there is a chance you could be UTD, no eggs no UTD hey!
Berenice, I got my referal for my lap from my gyno. We have been trying for 3 years and had finished 5 rounds of Clomid with no result so the lap was the next step. As for clomid when overweight I'm not sure, I'm sure there is other girls on this sight that have been overweight and been able to get it though so maybe one of them could refer you to there contact? Just a thought. It must be so hard having to deal with TTC and tring to loose weight with PCO all at the same time, you poor thing, the last thing you need is people refusing you the drugs that help you concieve. They just dont get it do they!
Mez, good luck with your 2WW dont you just hate it? Glad to hear the DH made it home in time, it must be hard having him away alot!
Good luck to all with the stages that you are al!
Keli
Ok so now for my update.
So I had what you'd probably call a major meltdown on Friday. Went to see my gyno for my follow up appointment from my lap. Wasn't expecting to be told anything I didn't already know cos my surgeons had already told me what happened after my lap (or so I thought).
Basically I have just found out that my left tube is totally blocked, they pretty sure that its endo and they cant do anything about it, hmmmmmm. So in short where this leaves us now is........well I'm not totally sure just yet, still trying to digest it all.
Gyno has requested that I go on clomid for 2 more months (even though I should O without it cos I had golfballing done), she just wants to make sure I dont miss out on a chance of getting preggas naturally (as I do still have one viable tube). But then we will be moving onto IVF. I know it's not the end of the world but it cerntainly feels like it at the moment. I am 25 (nearly 26) DH is 34 we have been TTC for 3 years now and I just didn't expect to be on IVF at the age of 26, I thought that there were a lot more steps between where we are and IVF.
Arrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!
Sorry ladies just having a bit of a **** time trying to digest all of this. It's a little overwelming. And then there's the $ side of it. I mean I would pay anything to have a bub and thankfully DH and I have good well paying jobs but we have also just bought our first home and had no intention of going to IVF for at least another 12 months.
Tammara, looks like we may be on a similar path soon. Can you tell me what it is going to cost you both "in full" and "out of pocket"? Do you know? I know mine will be a little different cos as far as we know my eggs are viable the little buggers just cant get down one of my tubes.
Ok well I think that is my vent for the moment, thanks to this forum it has been my lifesaver. Before finding it I trully did think that I was the only person in the world going through what we go through. So thanks!
Babydust to all.
Keli xxoo
Hey Keli
Have you talked to your dr about intra uterine insemination (IUI)? this is what i tried before the ivf, basicly you take the same medications as you do on ivf to get your folicles ready and when they are the right size you take a trigger injection to get you to ovulate then the insert the sperm. This is much cheaper than IVF i dont know the full amount of it because i only paid for the medication which cost about $300 but i think from memory it was under $2000 for everything.
With my IVF it is dearer because i am using an egg donor (which i dont see why it should be cos they are still doing the exact same thing just using 2 people) anyway i have paid $9067 up front and i get approx $1500 back, not sure about the refund as yet. Looking at the price list mine is called: stimulated donor egg cycle - initial cycle and the one i think that is just standard is alled stimulated ivf cycle - initial cycle $4216.
If you are actually ovulating then i think you should look into IUI - i am only doing IVF because my folicles never grew.
Hoipe this helps![]()
Hi girls,
Keli- after this we should be able to TTC either this month or after one normal period. Apparently it depends when the bleeding stops. FS is confident that this shouls stop the m/c, so fingers crossed that I'm allowed to stay on clomid, becasue lucky for me it has made me o each time at 100mg dose. As for your situation, hopefully you can do the IUI thing that Tammara mentioned, I've heard people have had good success with that. Don't panic though, lots of people get pregannt with only one tube working, so try not to lose hope. We all have our meltdowns though!
Tammara- my FS told me that follies grow between 1-2mm every 1-2 days, so follies could be viable soon! Hope all is well on Monday.
Got1want1more- so glad you o'd! =Sending Babydust your way!
Everyone else- hope you're all travelling well. Good luck to anyone 2WWing, FX for you.
Bye for now,
Bec
