Okay, we are officially starting IVF in about a week and a half....just want to get the ball rolling!!!!! Yay!
Hi everyone. After 7 weeks on metformin I got AF - yayy! I had been on the pill for the last 10 years to manage my PCOS and whenever I took a break (from 4 months to 7 months at a time) I never had AF. So this is my first "non-pill" AF in 10 years.
It's pretty much over but now I have this constant pain in the lower left part of my abdomen. It's been nonstop for about 19 hours now. I'm seeing the doctor this morning but has anyone else experienced this just after AF? It doesn't feel like period pain. Now I'm paranoid something is wrong with my left ovary. I also felt nauseous and went into a cold sweat this morning when I was standing up. Not sure if that's psychosomatic from me worrying about my ovary though.
Beetle, are you eating a low GI diet? You should be careful with what you eat on Met because it can cause you to have dizziness etc, if your sugar drops. So eating low GI ensures a steady flow of energy...You didn't mention your food, but have you adjusted your diet? Also, how long after your period did you get the pains?
Congrats on AF! Met has been a wonder drug for me as well! I did not O on Clomid alone but the met made me O :) so keep taking it and you'll be really happy with the results!

Hi Brussel Sprout! Thanks for your reply. Yes I am so relieved metformin brought on AF. If I don't get pregnant on met, by July, we've decided to start taking clomid too.
I have indeed been following a low GI diet, and exercising, and I think both these things combined with the metformin has given me my miracle AF. However, last night I was very naughty and ate chips at the pub, so maybe this made me sick this morning? (Also had a glass of white wine and half a pot of beer...:doh: )
I saw the doctor today and she thinks maybe a cyst/follicle ruptured, which caused the abdominal pain, and she thinks that right at the time it ruptured, that might have been when I got the nausea, light-headedness and cold sweat. I feel better now, just a slight pain in my abdomen (it was never unbearable, just worrying). I'm right at the end of my period so was very confused as to why I was getting pain, and it didn't feel like period pain.
Also I rang my gyno but he wasn't in, so his receptionist said it's common for PCOS women to have some pain in the ovary areas when AF comes for the first few times. Not sure if she's right but hopefully all is good.
Oh ok, so if there was a cyst that ruptured, that is a whole other story...I never had issues drinking on the met, but I never drink a lot so not sure how alcohol affects it...As for the chips, not sure that would do it, that is most likely to get you running to the bathroom...lol.
Well good luck at the doctor's office and let me know what it is...I am curious, as I too have recently started met.

4 step kids but am constantly reminded by them and ex wife I am not a mother. Having a horrible time while friends and family get pregnant willy nilly- so unhappy, I hope clomid works- I hate to think what comes next, i've had enough of internal cameras- I just want things to happen naturally
was prescripbed 50mg of clomid but took 100mg when I was told by a friend it was better- I now have bloating and have put on 2kg in one week- maybe its my own fault. What should I do next afetr blood test (which is next week)

Here is our story:
TTC since Aug 08 - PCOS
Fell all on our own without taking clomid Dec 08 ( got confused about which day to take it and had other issues so was going to start the following month).
Our little natural bub grew wings @11wks 5 days found out at Nucal scan.
3 D&C's in 3 weeks finally got AF and now have just finished taking my Clomid (50mg) for the first time.
Thinking it might be mucking around with my CM but I can't buy preseed online as it won't get here in time. Anyone know anything else that will work the same at the chemist???
Don't think I have 'o' yet. I usually get some pain when it happens.
Also any suggestions on OPK?? I am going to look for one today but unsure about the spit on glass ones :lol:.
Hoping all our journeys to a BFP is not too much longer.

I have the maybe Baby mini microscope saliva thing- and I don't like it- its not accurate- read a few of the discussions about it- its not all its cracked up to be- but if you need that extra something to give you piece of mind go ahead- I know how hard it is to sit back and just do nothing except take a couple pills now and then so you ovulate one day a month. I do know some people it has worked for but I know more people its hasn't worked for.
My gyno said it causes more stress for you and can actually stop ovulation if you are too stressed- so the microscope as well as taking your BT might hinder your fertility- if I were you I'd spend that money on a massage or something relaxing that makes you and your partner feel less pressured.

Ok so im day 24,( 1st time chlomid & metformin ) positive that i ovul day 15, had day 21 prog test 4 days ago so now just waiting.:pray: I havent really had any symptoms at all ( but not going to get down about it untill its comfirmed that im not and i get my af )have been getting really hot and cold sweets of a night tho i will wake up and be really hot a few times each night.
Anyway all there is to do now for me is wait and pray that this is our time. :pray:
Also, I forgot 1 thing last week and yesterday i got a pain in my lower tummy, it was like i had been winded that lasted a couple of hours ( Actually last week was alot longer but yest not as long ) then once that pain had subsided i was in so much pain with my Back, it was killing me.. HAs this happened to anyone before?
f- i had really bad o pains on clomid felt everything ewwwwwwwww - big hugs

ellie- if you have pcos the maybe maybe thing doesn't work - i borrowed one and i had ferns all the time cause my cycles/hormones are just nuts.
Hi girls, have just caught up - congrats Brussels - great news - try not to stress and enjoy it.
Frustrated, I had pains like that the second time I took chlomid - it was hell!! from the ribs down front and back it felt like i was bruised and very tender, then felt like I had wind - but didn't. It goes away - but my specialist didn't know what it was, thought it my be somethign with hyperactive ovaries - apparently this can happen. Either way I was preggies that time and haven't had it too bad every since. Can't really suggest anything for it, as you can't really take anything.

I can start testing as of 17th, so fingers crossed. I have no idea of symptoms anymore, but don't think I am this month. If not back to the DR's for me to check out my tubes.

hi MRZ. If the clomid is messing around with your cm,there is a lubricant named conceive plus.its a lubricant that has vitamins and mimics fertile cm.It is only about $15.00 from your chemist.its new and i bought it about 4 weeks ago.Its by a company named Sasmar. Hope this helps.
My update....day 13 on frist clomid cycle since miscarriage nearly 3 yrs ago.Doing the urine ovulation test kits.Had what seemedlike a surge on day 10 then the remaining 3 tests have been Neg.Never have i ovulated before day 14.Have headaches but now have cystitis :( Still trying to keep calm.
or try preseed - i used clomind adn preseed each time.

For the met girls, take it seriously and you will not regret it...The side effects go away or lessen...I am 100% sure that is what did it for me. And my doctor has me continuing it until the end...not just the first three months. He told me that the met caused the ovulation to happen because the clomid did not work on it's own.
For now I am very relaxed. I actually don't feel like anything is going on...I have my first Eco tomorrow...so I guess it will be more real then. Even if this one does not stick, I am just really happy that I know something works! I am trying not to get too excited until I get to the 4th month. I realize that my journey is not over yet.

oh yay!!! always felt like I'd totally missed the boat every time i conceived ) had slight idea first time sore sore bb's but miscarried at 8 weeks - i didn't even test cause i though t i'd have no chance)which was only on clomid.
congrats- cant wait for more bfp's bring it on girls and big hugs to those in the ttw.

About bringing AF on, what did the Dr suggest for you to do? or did it involve taking medication?
Well, I think he was hoping that the met would bring it on...I was expecting one of the period inducing drugs that they always tell women to take...but strangely, he told me to just take two birth control pills a day for three days straight and my period would come...so a slightly easier method for those not getting prescribed a period inducing drug...I am not a doctor and not sure how this will affect different people, but for me that is what he said...He said not many people know about this system...and I am not sure if this is good for after MC...but that is what he told me.:

Furustrated - I had huge abdominal pains yesterday, so bad i rang my FS and having a scan today to check that I am not overstimulating??? I have also been getting hot and cold flushes day and night....I am using 2 poas OPK kits a morning so far nothing but yesterday i had a faint second line as well as today but definately not a surge line yet.
Ellieanna - Try not to take too much clomid , only take what your doc has prescribed. My fs said it will not work any better by taking more and it can cause yourself more problems by over stimulatingyour ovaries and apparently that leads to more problems. I feel your pain about nnot having a child with your DH. I too do not have a child with my DH and it rips me apart that we lost our little one @ 3months and now are here on fertility treatment tyring to have our forever baby.I was a little like yourself and had 3 children very easily ( fortunately) but now my life has changed ( and my body) and it is so much harder as you said. Please be positive hun i do understand it is hard.
AFM: My FS suggested I must BD on cycle day 13 which is today but I can't work it out as I am not 'o' yet or what is looking like'o'ing anytime soon. I am going to ask about the metformin today. Having a ultrasound today so I am hoping that will give me some answers about if the clomid is or has worked.
Will post later with my results.

I called this morniing to get my Day 21 prog test results, YAY like i thought i did ovulate.:clap:
I did a hpt yesterday ( I was just that excited for it to be at near the end of the cycle ) and was negative, little 2 keen i think being only day 24..oops.. So im thinking there is still hope????? Dont think anything would have shown up so early!.. Like i said was just a lttle excited... :pray:

I just got back from my doctor's office...he cannot track the exact day of my ovulation, but he says it was between the 24 of March and the 2nd of April...he says later it will be easier to tell the exact age of bub...
I saw baby today :) and a good heartbeat. The doctor said everything looks good but he would like to keep me under watch every two weeks...so I go back in two weeks. He estimated the pregnancy at 5w5d...
My husband was sort of amazed...I think it really sunk in for him today. He seemed in awe.
So anyway, just filling you girls in and praying for everything to go well for the next few weeks...and hoping you all get good news very soon!

Finally AF came this morning so i get to start on the clomid. I am meant to take them day 3 - 7 of my cycle, seeing as it has been ages since i got the tablets i have forgoten if I continue to take the clomid if AF is finished? can anyone tell me if i keep going or stop.

I'm new to this thread but thought i'd better "jump in" as my long awaited AF turned up this morning FINALLY (35 day cycle for me this last time round, for the last 8 months it's been ranging from 27 - 39 days... So Frustrating).
So long story short I'll be starting my 1st Clomid cycle on Day 3 going thru to 7 and quite frankly I'm Pumped about the whole thing:dance:.... It's been a long journey to actually get to a point where i now feel like i have a little control over this TTC journey...
So yeah, cycle day 3 Start Clomid, Cycle day 9 have a HSG Xray (which can't say i'm looking forward to), day 13 start DTD like crazy until cycle day 25 (that's alot of BD'ing)...
So, just wanted to introduce myself and say Hi, hope everyone is having good cycles and the drugs aren't being cruel!
Does anyone know how the Clomid interacts with alcohol, (have girls night out on first day of tab taking, not sure if a couple of drinks is okay or not)!

hey tam- i took mine on days 2-7 and got scan on the 12th adn the bd every second day from wheneve my ob told me to.
welocem em- congrats on strting clomid!! i found i got more hot flusehs if i drank so avoived it.
hsg- wont be painful but you'll know the reuslt straight away!!
Ellasmum - It will be good to have us on the same cycle and both starting together :) I have my HSG booked in on the 23rd so hopefully AF will be well and trully gone.
LSK - thanks for that, it has been so long since i spoke to the fs about the clomid i just forgot :)
Tammara, yes you continue until you are done with the treatment, even if your period is over :) YAY!!!!! I am so happy to hear that! :clap: lol:
EM, I found that when I drank on Clomid I just got warmer...lol...good luck!

i am on a drug called femarra. it works to make you ovulate but a little differently to clomid. i have done 8 months of clomid in 2007 so FS is trying something new.
apparently clomid blocks the estrogen from working and femarra blocks the estrogen from being produced????
blah blah blah is what i think....i just wat it to work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this is my second month trying it. it did work last month but no BFP after an IUI.
i do happen to have two little embies on ice but am too scarred to use them.
DH and i have decided to do a few more IUI's and see if we can get lucky with them. if not then the embies are there for use. because of my age, FS always uses 2 at a time so it is only one go..
the clomid or clomiphene gave me a few bad symptoms but i get nothing on this new one. i don;t even know i have taken anything! yah..
so, i am probably going ot have another iui next week (lucky 7th!):wall:. i am on cd 5 and have taken tablets from days 3-7 just the same as clomid. i have acup booked for monday to help ovulation. i got buzzing ovaries last time so will keep it up for sure....
well let's hope we all get our BFP's together. :pray:

Well i THInk i have ovulated.Usually i ovulate on day 14 or 15 WITHOUT clomid.Im at day 15 now and have been testing since day 10 or 11? I had a surge on the first day of testing which was too early so i ignored it.Kept on testing and had a surge yesterday (day 14) and my test showed a surge result today as well (day 15).it doesnt matter either way as hubby and i have it covered ;) (know what i mean). I am using the urine test kits....not the saliva one which was frowned upon by my specialist.
I have been combing my clomid treatment with Conceive plus,Vitex agnus(premular) and Elevit.
Also and this is embarassing...can anyone let me in on the abbreviations.I dont understand some of them.....:rolleyes:
Ok so im on day 27 ( My cycle used to last up to 37 days before starting this time round on metformin & chlomid) , today when i went to the toilet i had brown blood/but it wasnt really blood it was just like gunk but not chunky it was watery like blood. ( sorry i dont no how else to explain), there was quite a bit when i wiped but seemed to go away.I dont think this could be my period being only day 27 and ive had no period symptoms at all. Im so confused..COuld this be my period?

Frustrated - could be your period - I get mine anywhere from 11 days after O' to 16 - so it could be. Apparently you can also get bleeding from when the egg implants in to the wall of your uterous - so there is my answers - I read way too much!
I am now up to day 31 - my specialist has told me to start testing as of yesterday - did yesterday and today and both negative. But AF have still not arrived and I don't feel like they are around the corner. So will just wait now!
okay- so your not taking you temp each day? if yo go to fertility friend dot com sign up (free) it's a temping site that can help you track O, bfp and generally helps to get to know yu body better- when i wasn't on met/clomid my charts went up to 96 days!! i will give you the link to my chart. 3dc0b Ovulation Charts

Thanks Becc, there the 2 conclusions i had come up with also, :think::think:just thought it was strange if it is my period to have come so quickly, but the neds may have made them more regular, but fingers crossed they don't come at all... All so confusing and so hard to not read so much into every little thing that happens when we all want it so bad,
