 For your DH Mahli09... It can be so hard on them.. I wish you didn't have to be considering IVF but I know for me that I feel so much more in control with the idea that I know how every step has gone.. Having unexplained infertility means that I don't know where the process is breaking down and I will hopefully overcome that with IVF... I hope you don't take this the wrong way but every cloud has a silver lining and your DH's analysis may have saved you quite a long time of :wall: .. they are hopefully going to get you cranking along and you'll have that BFP in no time... This journey changes all of us... One way or another... I hope you don't have to walk as far...
-
Hi everyone!
Dee - I totally understand where you're coming from when you say that you feel more in control with IVF - I've been thinking about this a lot lately and I feel that I won't be doing enough until I've gone to IVF. I'm wishing you all the luck I can muster that you get your BFP first cycle!
31becc - My first 3 cycles on Clomid were 35 days (like clockwork) and the last cycle was 36 days so not too far out of whack. Before Clomid (on Met alone) my cycles were just like yours, all over the place (28-41 days)! Before Met it was not unusual for me to go without AF for 4 months and then once I had AF for 3 months :o I'm so glad the pain has gone now and AF has taken a hike. It's really odd but I had the same kind of thing - mega pain on day 1 & 2 of AF and now on day 3 she's almost disappeared - very odd
Tammara - I know exactly what you mean LOL! It's odd that we think so much about AF when we dislike her so much  I hope she arrives for you soon so you can get cracking ;)
Mahli - I'm so sorry to hear about the news from your FS  I'm sure dh was devastated - I don't know why but us girls seem to take infertility a lot better than the guys ... maybe they feel like it's taking away their 'manhood'? I have to agree with Dee though, you may well get your BFP a whole lot quicker on IVF ... although I am sorry that you have to go through it :doh:Good Luck hon
I'll be back for a AFM post - dh just got home and it's his birthday so I should go and spoil him LOL!
-
Back again :hello:
I just wanted to have a vent about a GP I saw yesterday if that's o.k? - My regular GP has gone a bit troppo since her marriage break-up (crying to patients!) so I thought I'd just see the new Doc because I only needed a Met script.
Anyways, he asks me why I'm taking Met so I tell him that I have PCOS and he says "what does the Metformin do?" so I explained that it regulates my cycles to a certain degree and without it, I go months at a time without AF (hellooooo patient here - shouldn't YOU be telling me what it does grrrrrr!) so he looks at DH, laughs and says "isn't it preferable to not have a period - especially for you?" this was my hubby's face ----> :o
At this point, I was starting to boil but he asked me about our TTC journey and the PCOS so I started to explain it all to him and he began waving his hands at me in a 'shut up' motion  DH stands up and says "obviously you don't care Doc so if you give us the script we'll be on our way" - Doctor says "oh no, I do care, do you think I need to do some homework on PCOS?" to which DH replies "errrrrrr yes!" and then he took the cake with this comment.......
"Not many people know this but I will tell you - if you lose weight you will cure the PCOS - it's the only known cure for PCOS and therefore I don't believe in PCOS only in overweight women who believe they have it" :o
On top of that, I told him that I have a 16 day luteal phase and he says "no you don't - I practice evidence based medicine and the luteal phase is 14 days long ALWAYS!" :wall:
Phew! I feel better after getting that out LOL! Sorry about the rant, it's just been bothering me since yesterday
-
Ohh Kylie thats terrible!!
It's horrible to think that someone like him is allowed to treat patients and prescribe medication, especially when he doesn't even know what he is talking about!! He should keep his uneducated opinions to himself!!
Mahli09
-
My goodness Kylie - what a d.... head!!!!! I can't believe he would make a comment like that to your DH - especially when it is a very sensitive subject. What a joke of a Doctor. Do you have a Fertility specialist. My local doctor referred me as he would not subscribe anything. This place I go to is brilliant, they monitor everything. The only problem is, is that they are in Albury, so don't know if you are near there. I can give you his details if you want.
Mahli09 - can see where Dee is coming from with her comments about IVF. When we were initially considering trying - a doctor told us to try for at least a year, then start worrying! - so we tried for the year - as it turned out I probably only O about twice in that time! It is very frustrating to find out that after doing to monthly thing for a year and wondering the whole time why you aren't preggies, yet and find out after we could have saved a lot of time! So hopefully it does cut out some waiting time for you.
Tammara - understand the AF thing - I was glad to get mine this month as I was in a lot of pain and knew I could get on with this month. hate the waiting game!
-
Hi Ladies :hello:
I know! What a to$$er! I've dealt with some incompetent Doctors in my time but he takes the cake  Thanks for letting me vent
becc - My usual GP is fantastic (when her marriage isn't breaking down lol) and she's even qualified to prescribe Clomid and she's very interested in PCOS - she literally gets really excited when she finds out about new drugs or research that may help PCOS. I live in the middle of nowhere so the best we have is a OBGYN visiting once a week (or fortnight, can't remember). The FS that I have to see is 6 hours away - this is the whole reason we haven't started IVF yet. I could be monitored from out here BUT we only have one x-ray department and it's a minimum one month wait so I would have to drive at least 3 hours (nearest town) to get a scan
Oh dear, I've waffled on again ... sorry ladies
I hope everyone's having a great day :D
-
Kylie - where are you? I am isolated too, live 50 kms from nearest town (prob not as isolated as you), but travel in to work in a town of about 10,000 so can get to an ultra sound if needed. I am doing everything with my FS over the phone at the moment, have only been there once intially, but they have been very supportive, so far - I think one of the nurses are a bit loopy though!! They have told me if I am not preggies after 4 months on this thing, I have to go back to them and and they are going to check all my tubes and stuff.
-
wow lots of posts since i came here last.
Kylie . . . i think hubby needs a medal for not smacking the Dr! what an insensative pig. Sounds like you have a very supportave hubby :)
Mahli09 and Dee . . . good luck with the IVF if and when you decide to go down that path.
Bec. . . . Glad your pain is over and was not too long.
Thinking about Kylies saga with her GP makes me glad i went straight to the FS because i thought my only hope was IVF, how little did i know. When i went to see him i was pleasantly surprised when he said there were other things to try before IVF as a last resort.
Good luck ladies
-
becc - I'm in Far West NSW ... 3hrs to Mildura and 6hrs to Adelaide. I would have to do the same as you as far as phone support goes for the FS, it's just the scans that'll be the problem. Do you mind the drive into work everyday or are you just used to it? lol @ the loopy nurse  Personally, I think it's a great idea to have your tubes checked etc. I had mine checked and it gave me peace of mind that everything is physically o.k. On the other hand if it wasn't o.k. at least we'd know what we're up against and what we needed to do to fix it :D
Tammara - how's things with you hon? Has AF reared her ugly head yet? Yes, I agree that DH deserves a medal for not smacking that doctor! He said that he was angry at the way he was waffling on but his main thought was "he's a freakin' idiot and I need to get Kylie away from him' LOL  I agree that it's a good idea to go straight to the FS because it's not easy to find a good GP! I would have done the same thing if it wasn't for the isolation
How is everyone? It's been very quiet in here lately but I suppose most of us are at the start of our cycles so not a lot happening.
AFM - I'm doing o.k. apart from some mega Clomid headaches but yesterday was the last Clomid tablet so hopefully that'll be the end of the headaches too
:hello:
-
Hey Kylie,
Im still waiting - its been nearly 3 weeks so should not be too far away but who knows??? hopefully i will have a normal cycle and be able to get the ultrasound and tests done asap and find out how things are going. Cant wait to start the Clomid and hope everything goes well.
Hope all is going well with everyone else too.
-
Hi Guys, I can join this thread now!
I took my very first Clomid tablet last night! Very excited!
I have had absent periods since Nov last year after stopping the pill - just lazy hormones ive been told. So hopefully this will work!
Is it correct that you OV 5 - 10 days after last pill? I have been told a few different things?
How many of you got a Baby first go?
-
hey reg ( and other girls )
i have had clomid 3 times one angle form it and 1 fullterm boyand have number 2 cooking!!!
aer you having a scan or blood test to see when you o? i had one on day 12 abd the was told when to dtd form there.
welcome- bring on bfp girlies!!!
-
Hi everyone :hello:
Tammara - fingers crossed that you have a normal cycle and can get cracking on the Clomid - but then again ... I hope you don't get AF and instead you get a BFP naturally!!!!
Reggie - Welcome! I've heard lots of great stories about BFP's on the first cycle so I'll cross everything that it happens to you too  I was always told that O would normally be 5-10 days after Clomid but of course I can't be normal lol  I'm O'ing between CD19 & CD22 - Thank goodness for OPK's or I'd never know when I'm O'ing (Clomid dries up my CM)! I've read that a lot of women aren't normal in this sense so I guess you just have to keep an eye on symptoms of O. Are you temping?
Hey LSK - How's the cooking going?
-
LOL- only 4 months till it's done!!
-
ahhhh but everything is so much sweeter when it's slow baked .. and she is a girl so she'll get ready in her own good time! lol
-
Hi Reggie,
Clomid worked for me the first go in January this year. I have PCOS, endometriosis and had a miscarriage last year from a natural cycle. I really hope it works for you.
Everyone else I lurk and check in often, I really hope all of you are blessed really soon as I find it so upsetting reading about your struggles! Who ever said getting pregnant is a natural thing???? hehehe
-
sooooooooooooo not natural for me but just as wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Hi All,
Strangely I think clomid's actually increased my CM. I used to get it for 1 day and now it's more like 3 and there seems to be much more of it.
I'm no longer charting or OPK'ing, just relying on counting cycle days and CM to know. I'd love to OPK, but never seem to remember to do it! Or if I do remember to test I've forgotten not to consume too much water.
Sorry for not being round much. I've been checking in occasionally on you all. I think I've put our conception journey on the back-burner mentally and wanted to avoid thinking about it and just get on with life for a while. After living with it for 12 months now I think I needed a mental break from it. I'm not even really sure where in the TWW I am! But I've been reading about you all and keep hoping and praying we'll all get our clomid miracle baby!
-
Hi Ladie
Well it seems i have jumped ship to NOT wanting AF to show up. I was feeling very unwell on Saturday and ended up in the hospital and after needles and tests, just before i was sen\t home the Dr gave me the grat news that i was pregnant :) i was very surprised because ive not started taking the clomid yet so im praying hard that everything goes well for me and also for you all.
Take care i will keep you informed :D
-
Wilcken 190-fool
Congrats Tammara - that is great news - especially when you weren't expecting that!
Welcome Reggie - I am now on cycle 3 of chlomid and have ovulated on day 17 - I have been taking Chlomid on days 5 to 9, my specialist has said that you usually O 6 to 12 days after your last tablet - so I guess it is true - last month I O'ed on day 20 and the month before was on day 15 - so all over the joint. Good luck.
Kylie - you are way more isolated than me - but can understand - fingers crossed for you this month too. You are day behind me aren't you?
Bonnie - I hear you on the mental break thing. you do need a break from it all and chlomid does not help those moods - I have absolutely turned into an absolute witch this month and can't control it! My poor DH, he has been coping it for nothing!
Becc
-
beec- hugs!! i was like that the first time, with number 2 i took clomid at night and it helped eap with the *****iness
bonnie- i hear ya hon
kylie- hopefully last month trying for you!!
Tamm- yippee - congrat hon!! pm me if you need any advice!!
-
Woo Hoo!!! Congratulations Tammara! That's such great news.

New to Thread
Hi Everyone,
Thank-you for inviting me, my partner and I have been trying for two years. I have PCOS, I was diagnosed a year and a half ago but have had the signs and symptoms for up to 5 years. I am on my 4th course of Clomid and have been on Metformin since I was diagnosed (850mg). :wall:
If you have looked at my info, you may have seen that I am twenty. Lots of people raise their eyebrow to hear how desperately we are trying at this age. I have my own home, I am married and have a great income. When I left high school, most girls went off to uni to become nurses, lawyers, teachers. I wanted to be a mum, and that was going to be my job! I grew up as one of six kids, and my parents bred golden retrievers. When I was just eleven I woke every two hours to bottle feed the sickly pups, I was always the mother hen. So to find out my body was in this state, I couldn't believe it! I wanted to have 7 to 8 kids!:) I know you will agree when I say that I look up at the sky and say, Why Me??
I have joined these forums looking for hope, and so I don't choke my doctor, as my self-love is rock bottom!!!!!
-
Hi Danielle,
Welcome. :-) i don't think many people here would question your choices. In fact I'm sure some wish they had started trying earlier. I know I do and I'm only 26!
-
:happyforyou: Yay Tamarra.. Congratulations Hun.. I hope you have a H&H 9 months... Hi to everyone else.. I hope you are all going well and that the Clomid isn't messing with you too much...
-
dan!! yay!! good to see you here! i was on same as you except clomid 1500mg.
you'l get hugs adn understanding in ths forum praying for a bfp for you!!
-
Thanks so much guys, just got a day 25 (ovulating late) progesterone blood test, it's nice to come home to some friendly messages already!
I think I'm going to enjoy my internet helpers....
-
HI again!
Ok so took my first clomid tablet last thursday night and was all good, then on sunday morning I woke up and lo and behold I had my period
Now how in the world does this happen? I had not had a period since I went off the pill last year in November!!
Could the chemicals in the clomid make me get a period? As my gyno did heaps of bloods on me and they said i was not ovulating - hence no period.
Can anyone shed some light on this please?! As i am a bit freaked out.
The gyno has told me to stop taking the clomid on sunday (took three tablets already) and to re-start them on days 5 - 9
-
Hi Everyone!
I have been reading everyones post's and there is alot happening in here now!!
Firstly congrats :confetti:Tammara - what a nice ending to a horrible trip to the hospital!
And a big welcome :hello: to Reggie B & Danielle - I am pretty new to this thread too and it is lovely to come on here and feel so much love from all the girls - they really are helpful - good luck guy's with the clomid.
As for everyone else I hope your all doing well and keeping your spirits up :grouphug:.
AFM - My DH has had his second round of testing and we are waiting on the results before we can get the referral for ICSI - I can't get into my FS for two full weeks which is really annoying because I want to get started, I feel like we are getting so close to having our dream baby and I am more impatient now then ever - does that make sense?
This was my first cycle on Met and my AF arrived smack bang on day 28 which has only ever happened when I was on the pill - it's usually 40-50 days! So maybe something is working right for us!
Anyway thinking of you all! Off to work now :computer:
-
Libby 3-to-0
Hi Ladies
Thanks for all your congrats, hope there are many more to come in the NEAR future. I had my blood tests done and i am only 4 weeks so have a long impatient road ahead of me.
I am happy to update everyone in here but i totally understand if some people might not want to read about my success while still not pregnent so please tell me if you prefer me not to post.
Good luck for everyone, and to the new girls i found this forum soooooo helpfull and the girls are lovely - thanks for all your advice :)

Hubby is stressing
Haha,
I just brought home yet another plastic specimen cup to my hubby's delight. Is he the only one that freaks out at this sperm-challenge? Poor darling wont even get out of the car when we drop off his sample:redface:.....Like the Doctors are all going to stand there pointing and laughing.....
Got the results from my day 21 progesterone test. :crying: last time it was 2% ovul but this time 0%. But hopefully It's just because I am ovulating late, and my day 25 test comes back 200%!!!!!!!:leap:
-
Confused
Hi Everyone,
I been reading all your posts and just nodding my head at alot of things you guys are talking about.
I have been diagnosed with PCOS in Oct 2008 but have had Symptoms for 7 years.
Anyway I am about to start 1st cycle of Clomid and a bit concerned as cycle has not come around as it regularly would. not sure whether to start the clomid or not???.
I am new here so not sure on all the terms..
I have also been seeing a naturopath which seems to be help somehow.
-
Hi Girls
Just a little update with me. On Friday i noticed a little brownish spotting so i went to the hospital to get checked out and had blood tests and ultrasounds done and dont have a result as yet. The Dr thought it might be an eptopic pregnancy or i am just REALLY early. Good news if there is any - i have not had abdominal pain so i dont think i have misscarried. Just need to get another blood test and ultrasound done in two weeks ( i think i will get blood done sooner just for peace of mind) and take it from there.
I am trying to stay positive though I AM PREGNANT :)
Will keep you informed. hope everyone is well
-
Bye
Hi Girls,
I'm dropping in to say goodbye! DH and I have decided to stop actively trying for a while. We won't be going back on the BCP though, so you never know what might happen, we may turn out to be one of those "they stopped trying and fell pregnant" stories that plague infertiles :p
We are planning to move overseas in 2 years and our research is showing just how much trickier that will be with a baby in tow. So we're putting things on hold for a bit.
I hope you all get your BFP's soon. It's been great having your support and getting to share in the excitement of Erybery and Tammara's good news. I'll still check in occasionally to see how you are travelling if that's okay.
-
Hello!!!!
Hi girls, sorry have been offline - been jetsetting!
Welcome, Danielle, Reggie and Cony - it is a great link - helps you vent and get things out and ask questions of people who understand!
Tammara - could it be spotting? Apparently that can happen. Good luck - fingers crossed for you.
Bonnie - goodbye - keep us posted if you are one of those lucky ones or if you decide you want to come back on.
Kylie - how is your month going?
Mahli - can understand that one - because my FS was closing up over christmas, it worked out that I got my AF the week before and would need to be monitored. They said I couldn't start until January because of them being away! Very frustrating. I just started anyway!
As for me. No pains at all this month - apart from when "O" apparently occured. So don't know the difference as each month has been different! Can't test until 19th - hate the waiting game.
I have figured out chlomid makes you act "irrationally" - I have been trying to put it into words for ages!~
Baby dust to all.
-
Hi Becc!!
When you say pain? what did it feel like, this is the 7day after alast clomid tablet for me and past couple hours been having a sharpish pain left hand side of tummy - is this what 'o' feels like?! ha ha
or am i going insane?
-
Reggie
Yep, I wouldn't say pain, but feels like a twinge and stitch - yep apparently it is "O" or you are about to, so my FS says
My pains as such were really bad last month and wasn't just the above, felt like I was bruised from my ribs down - don't have it this month thoughm, but did have the twinge stitch like pain last week - when i was supposed to have.
You had better get onto your baby dancing!!!!!
good luck!
becc

Hi everyone
Got some bad news unfortunately, when i woke this morning i noticed i was bleeding again so went to the hospital and i lost the baby.
Dont know what is worse - not being able to get pregnent or getting pregnent and losing it less than 2 weeks of finding out???????
hope everyone else is having a better day
-
oh tam- big hugs for you,
same thing happened to me first time round. i really think my body just did not know what to do.

Tammara - thoughts are with you and DH.
