Thumbs down Update: Saw the Fertility Specialist today - not so great news :(

*mainly copied from FB as I'm tired from crying *

My HyCoSy was delayed on Wed because I HAVE to be on a new cycle (was on CD 77). Was shattered that I went in, got admitted, and they couldn't do it. Got an internal scan anyways (any excuse to get dildo cammed ) Had FS app today...hmmm, what can I say? Found out DF's sperm count is fine (yay), motility is lower than average (crap)...but the bad bad bad news...only 4% are okay, the rest are abnormal Had to reallllly hold back the tears when we heard that Other than that, pelvic... scan on Wed showed that I had a corpus lutem (!!) so I must have O'ed in the past week or so. FF says I'm like 17 dpo but that's rubbish, so I overrode it. So I've O'ed between 7 to 2 days ago. Have a look at my chart in my sig, I reckon it was Tuesday. Doc said to wait 14 days, see if AF shows, then go in for a BhCG...and if it's neg and AF still hasn't shown, I have a script for Progesterone to get the bleeding going, and I'll have the HyCoSy after that. Sighhh. Oh, and some cysts were found on each ovary. For a young couple, we have some ****ty fert issues There is a chance we'll fall this cycle, I'm just praying for a miracle baby really. I know heaps of couples fall through IVF, I just don't know if I am as strong as the brave men and women that go through that

    Big, big babe

You are stronger than you give yourself credit for... but you don't have to be strong all the time. Let the information settle in, cry, scream, spend time with your man...

Hon, I know this is a shock to you guys right now
It's great that you've ovulated. Late, yes, but still that's really good!
And 4% is actually not that bad. Remember he's making millions of the little guys, there's a lot of redundancy built into the system.
I'm sorry your hycosy was cancelled.

PZ - sorry you had such a bad day. On the plus side, there's a lot that you can try to do about sperm. First of all - Menevit. Also, if its relevant, drinking, smoking, coffee should be cut out by your DF entirely if he can or minimized. Also, he should write down a list of any supplements or pills he takes on a regular basis and bring this to your FS - you'd be surprised to find that some over the counter vitamins/supplements are not recommended when you are focused on sperm issues. Also, no hot baths for DF and no bike riding. My DH made a couple of adjustments to his lifestyle and the difference it made to sperm quality was incredible...although it does take time even for sperm - I think at least 3 months....

Sorry to hear about that news. I am praying for you & your DH.

Just a side note, my gf & her DH only had a 4% chance too. They ended up doing one round of ISCI & fell pg - are due in Dec with # 1

Just wanted to say my DH had great sperm count and motility but not so good morphology only 4% normal forms like your DH SIVF said that is within normal range i dont know how they can say that when the world health organisation say it should be at a strict level 9% or above and 15% or above is normal westmead said low morph makes it harder to fall pregnant but not impossible anyway DH gave up coffee , coke and started taking sperm max and COQ10 and his last sperm test was perfect above 15% normal forms the FS said poor morpholoy is mainly from life stye and can be corrected.
    All the best

That's awesome to hear ferrals! Fwiw, Df and I only drink once in a blue moon (last time was Cai's 30th ), neither of us smoke, we drink soft drink, not a lot and not anything with caffeine, he doesn't drink coffee, wear tight undies, have spa's or baths, ride a bike or anything like that.
