Were you going for day 3 or day 5 transfer?

Embryos have to be of a certain quality to survive the freeze/thaw process. There is no point freezing lots of embryos and having none of them thaw (not saying that if they freeze one it is guaranteed to survive the thaw).

I ask about what level of growth you were goin for because usually an embryo will get to day 3 on the power of the egg and then goes to day 5 on the power of the sperm - so there is often a lot of drop off between day 3 and 5.

They always put the very best one back in for you and often leave the rest to develop a little further before they freeze them (embryos don't all develop at the same rate - and it is always worth giving the slower ones a chance to catch up). Also, my FH was always much more positive about the number of embryos that we would have to freeze on transfer day than she was a few days later. When I challenged her about this she said her opinion is always that you give the embryo that you are transferring the best chance possible and that includes talking up the others because there is no point having you upset. She was more straight with me after that conversation.

I suppose what I am saying is that if your embie doesn't stick ( that it does - it was the best one afterall) I would be asking the FS if they had an opinion on why the others weren't suitable for freezing - was it failure to develop or fragmentation or some other factor and is there anything that can be done about it.
