    It's really hard Jessie,

Our only indentified fertility problem was blocked tubes, and because I'd had children naturally previously, it seemed pretty straightforward that we would likely fall pg fast on IVF.

However, it took us 5 IVF stim cycles (1 cancelled for poor response) and 3 FETs to fall pg. In previous cycles, we'd never even registered the slightest bit of HCG, so were never ever pg before our successful cycle.

At the time, our Dr also told us it was just bad luck. I didn't believe him, so requested the head scientist at my clinic review my case. He too couldn't find anything else that may have been contributing to my repeated failure to implant. If we hadn't fallen pg on my 8th cycle, our 9th cycle would have been a PGD cycle, just to see whether there was anything genetically wrong with our embryos.

We were very very fortunate to end up pg without PGD, and to have a baby from IVF after all that time, but having seen my Dr since, he believes that we may have a bigger, yet undiagnosed problem that prevented us from conceiving earlier than this. If it's true, we'll still probably never know what it is, and if it's not true, then we were probably just unlucky for it to have taken so long(and unfortunately this is fairly common, so your Dr is not wrong there). Either way, the best you can do is keep informed and keep asking questions. Make sure you've had every avenue explored and don't let the Drs fob you off if you really want more investigative tests.

    Good luck!
