Question Is Ovidrel the same as pregnyl???

Hey guys took my trigger today at 1230am and was wondering what the difference is between pregnyl and ovidrel? I had pregnyl last cycle witha booster injection. This time no booster needed but used ovidrel to trigger this time . Is it the same but a different brand???

from what i understand, there are two main manufacturers of products for AC - one manufactures puregon, cetrotide and pregnyl, the other gonal-f, orgalutron and ovidrel. they're basically exactly the same - the only thing i've noticed from my research is that ovidrel seems to stick around longer in your system so can impact the result of HPT's for longer - but the actual action is basically the same...

    glad i could help!

i only learnt myself cos on IUI's they use cetrotide, IVF they used orgalutron for exactly the same thing!

Nikki - meant to mention that you may find you're not using a booster shot as you'll be using alternate support (progesterone pessaries or crinone gel)...

it's possible that this is normal for YOU - unfortunately!

i got dull pain more than anything - the only time i got really crampy was when i needed the loo - i have terrible IBS and the EPU gave me a horrid flare up! apart from that, it was really only the dull achiness...

Thanks BG you are probably right that it is normal for me since it happened last time too. It sucks though I feel shocking... If it doesnt improve over night Ill give the nurses a call and see what they think I should do... Thanks again

    Hi

Just wanted to throw something else into the mix. Originally I was given Ovidrel for my trigger, but had heaps of follies and was overstimming so they dropped my dosage of puregon and changed my trigger to pregnyl - apparently much less chance of me seriously overstimming after EPU.

Ovidrel did not work for us

Important: bad experience/possible problem with Ovidrel: My wife and I were going to a fertility doctor. Did 3 rounds with ovidrel(the ovulation forcing shot). We had no luck all 3 times. We decided that the doctor had too many patients and was not giving us personal care. We went to another doctor, did a round of a natural hormone, Follistim AQ cartridges with the Follistim Pen, and Ovidrel for the ovulation. This time, like the other times with the other doctor, she had her period 2-3 days early, and of course we were really disappointed. Well, this doctor checked her blood and levels and noticed they got too high too quickly. We did another round with the same natural hormone, but with a different ovulation drug, Pregnyl I believe, and we're now 6.5 weeks pregnant. We think that Ovidrel was the problem. It's like it made her cycle speed-up, and eggs drop too quickly and too soon, so there was no time for "it" to happen. Not that Ovidrel is bad, but it didn't work for us.
I hope this helps some of you having trouble, because it really hurt us for some time. Good luck to you all.
