Stephen Clavey, Ruth Trickey, Sharkey Healing Centre....feedback please!!!
Hi,
Has anyone had had any dealing with any of these naturopaths. My FS has reccomended these people for natural therapies in a last ditch attempt to get some good embryos before we have to consider donor something (sperm or egg as it is unknown which is causing the bad embies). I have googled and googled and they all seem to have a diff approach. I guess I want the magic answer (don't we all) - see this one and you'll get pregnant!! If only!!
Seriously I need feedback from people who have actually seen these guys so I can form an opinion on who to go with.
Thanks in advance
a very desperate and depressed Mel
Hi good luck with it all i have a friend who's sister dealt with the sharkey centre and she now has a little girl and another on the way i believe after being told she would only ever be able to concieve on IVF i don't know any details of treatments etc or the exact naturopath see saw sorry
i am so happy you just asked about the Sharkey Healing Centre as i seen a piece on a current affair last night and was pretty interested in it, so i went on to the web site and had a look around, sound pretty interesting but was going to check in here first to see if any of the ladies on bb had delt through them or had any success with them??
so i will be keeping a close eye on the replies that you get.
but the way i see at the moment i am willing to give anything a try, i was thinking about getting over chrissy first then starting up with them
I have a friend who went through countless IVF's and evetually had a little girl then they tried again two years later and went through Sharkeys and the night before they were to start a new stim cycle they found out they were pregnant natrually!!!!! But sadly my firend died before his son turned one ! But they really reccomened sharkeys. They were told they probably wouldnt have kids natrually and then after 3 months of sharkeys stuff they got their miracle.
Hi there
I went to Sharkeys for about 4 months. I found them to be very similar to a local natropath in what they recommended with diet, lifestyle etc and another natropath I had tried had also given a formula like Sharkeys. The only thing was that Sharkey's was twice the price. I wasn't convinced so I stopped going to Sharkeys and went back to my original natropath.
I have heard their many success stories too but it didn't work for me.
Good luck though.
Way back when Ruth Sharkey was operating the business herself I gave it a go. It did absolutely nothing for me but cost me a heap. I've had far more success this year by doing absolutely nothing apart from DTD.
Years ago I tried Ruth Sharkey before I was doing IVF and took the medicine for about 2 months but I got impatient and didnt continue with the treatment. I then tried IVF and thought I would give Sharkey a try while doing IVF . I applied to have treatment with the new owner of Sharkey ( not Ruth Sharkey the original owner of the practice) and she told me that because I am on anti-depressants ( a low dose I might add) she wouldnt treat me even though Ruth Sharkey had no probs .
I have also tried acupuncture, and also went to see Antonia Ruhl but got no results. (I have unexplained infertility). So things work for some people and dont work for others.
I am a qualified homeopath form Sydney who just relocated to Brisbane. I have many friends in the industry. I have been TTC for 18 months now and only a few months ago had an op to resect a septum in my uterus (go figure) and they found quite a bit of endo which they attempted to relieve me of. Although I still think there is quite a bit there. We are still trying and very soon will be visiting an IVF clinic.
In my bid to find a good natural therapist in Queensland who specialised in infertility I contacted the Jocelyn Centre in Sydney which is run by the highly successful Francesca Naish. They are a natural therapy women's fertility clinic in Bondi. A lot of my friends have worked and studied under her. The Jocelyn Centre recommended that I contact Debbie Leigh (Naturopath) in Paddington, Brisbane as she also worked under Francesca for a time and therefore has good experience at treating women's health and fertility problems.
Homeopathy is great, but on it's own can sometimes be a long journey to assisting infertility. I don't have that time due to my age, so am looking for a combination of natural therapies at once (ie. western herbal medicine, oils, acupuncture etc.) for my best chance.
Mel, I haven't had any personal experience with Sharkey's, but have some friends who did. She did manage to get a bfp twice, but lost them both sadly. She did say it was expensive, but said it was cheaper than what they were doing (IUI) with their (and our) FS.
RUTH SHARKEYS HEALING CENTRE ... Helped make me a 1st time Mum at 40 !!!!!
Previously my fertility specialist said I couldn't get pregnant without doing IVF, ... So, I gave Ruth Sharkey a go.
They gave me more answers then my Gyno did as to why I wasn't falling pregnant (apart my being older, LOL).
They said my cycle needed to be 28 or 29days. I thought yeh, right I've had a 31day cycle for a decade. Anyway, after taking the formula for 4mths my cycle became 28 to 29days ... And PRESTO 4mths later I was pregnant
I now have a sweet, healthy & bright lil 20mth old girl
Our situation is unexplained fertility as well. I have seen Stephen Clavey for about 6 months - I found my cycles became "better" - that is less pain, less heavy bleeding and more regular, but I got a bit disillusioned after 6 months and no baby so stopped (June 07).
I havent visited Ruth Sharkey's clinic but I subscribe to their website. I believe you can do online consults where you upload all your test results and answer lots of questions and then they make a herb mixture and send it to you.
Ruth Trickey apparently no longer takes on new clients as I tried to see her but instead I booked in with Ann Maree Bortoli at the same clinic (apparently all the other practicioners are trained by Ruth) and she was great. Only just went on Monday and she has given me herbs and other vitamins / supplements as well as dietary guidelines. I feel pretty confident in her.
From what I have read, both Steve Clavey and Ruth Sharkey claim to have success rates of about 20 - 25%. That may seem low, but apparently naturally after 2 years of trying to conceive your chances are about 2%, so that is pretty good by comparison. Not sure how more interventionist procedures like IUI and IVF go, but there are obviously downsides to that road - cost, side effects of synthetic hormones etc. I have had one session of IUI and we were told the success rates without ovulation stimulation by injection are about 9%.
Anyway good luck - did you end up going to any of the practicioners?
