    Cool Today's 3 Blessings....

I don't know if this is the right place to put this - (so mods if it needs to be moved please do) but I have been reading the positives thread elsewhere and I really like the concept - remembering the 'positive' things for the day. Positive Psychology refers to it as the 3 blessings. Anyway, the problem with the other thread is that there is lots of talk about kids, and it's all about DS this and DD that, blah, blah, blah... which I've been finding a bit difficult... feels a bit like salt in the wound when everything is about how great the kids are. So I thought it might be nice for us to have a similar thread, but with less emphasis on the baby stuff (doesn't mean you can't be grateful for your kids.... just perhaps don't rub it in too much for those of us who DON'T have any yet).

so anyway here are my 3 blessings for the day

    1. I managed to clean most of the house today
    2. beautiful sunny day so I managed to dry all the washing - it's now on the bed waiting to be folded and put away
    3. DH skyped twice :-)

...and tomorrow I will make sure I fold and put away the clothes AND do the dishes before I go to bed so I still have a clean kitchen by tuesday

The idea is to remind yourself of the things that went well for the day - and then to write how you can get more of that tomorrow :-)

so... anyone else up for the challenge???

    Good idea Myturn!

    My 3 blessings for today:
    1. Even though my computer died yesterday I managed to save three (long) reports and so have not had to rewrite them today.
    2. I had one of those 'this is why I love my job' days.
    3. Catching up with my sister tonoght.

    and tomorrow ...
Im also doing a clean of the house tonight so will be in a good mood from the moment I wake up and DH is home for 6 days as of tomorrow night (YAY!) so we can be a team in processing what ever our options are after visiting the fs tomorrow.

    What a lovely idea.....

1 - I had an RDO from work today (always a blessing )
2 - I got some extra washing done
3 - spent a nice afternoon with MIL and got a bit of christmas shopping done.

    and tomorrow.....
I will make sure I get up a bit earlier to be more organised so I can get to the gym after work, been eager to get back after being a bit unwell last week.

What happens if you have secondary infertility but you are LTTTC?? Are you allowed to mention your DD/DS as a blessing??

    Hi myturn

I think this is a lovely thread but I absolutely do not think that anyone in any threads were rubbing salt into the wounds of people TTC! I know exactly where you are coming from but IMO its just that DS or DD may be a HUGE part of that individual persons life, and perhaps they have nothing else! I know that personally I spent 5 years and 11 IVF cycles. It can be very hard on here at times and knowing that by writing the one postive in my life for example is upsetting others makes me for one, feel like a real cow!
I dont intend to offend you and again I do think it is a lovely thread to have started.

    great job ladies

ummm... so today... I woke up late and was feeling kinda dodgey... so this is probably and important exercise for me today.... so here goes...

    1. I was able to do some planning and preparation for the next session with a client I saw this morning and it was good because it will be something I can use with other clients in the future
    2. I didn't get the chocolate or anything crap for dinner (or to snack on) when I was on my way home, or in the supermarket
    3. I genuinely coped well with the baby talk at work (one of the girls is 14 weeks preg, and another is nearly 8 months)

so tomorrow I can get more of this by..... staying focused on tasks at work - and I will see a friend tomorrow night who had a baby about 2 months ago - if I keep up with the current attitude I should be okay....

Now to make sure I follow yesterdays promise and finish the dishes and fold the washing... if I could only get off the couch....

sorry, I certainly didn't mean to insinuate that anyone was trying to rub it in intentionally! Just that I liked the idea, but found that every post was about the kids, and I just thought that there may be other people like me who have yet to be blessed that might find that hard.

I just thought that the people in here may be a bit more sensitive to that, and of course people can be thankful for their babies and all that - just to be aware that in here it's a sensitive topic. I thought everyone would understand that. Sorry if I offended anyone by suggesting otherwise. But perhaps this is not the right thread if you are worried that you will offend people by your positives.

I don't resent others being thankful for their children, but as I don't have a baby to be thankful for at all, I thought that there may be people in here who understood that.

N2L - I think everyone needs to make a decision about whether their blessing will fit in here - I certainly won't be offended it people mention DS or DD - it was just that in the other thread it felt that every post was about the things that DS or DD were doing.

Personally I just want to remember to be thankful for the things that are not baby focused - and I thought maybe some other people felt the same way.

I feel like if I try to keep explaining myself I will just dig myself in further - there wasn't supposed to be any rules attached - just more sensitivity to the issues we have in here. Sorry again.

    Myturn, I understand .

Sometimes I am upset at things said... I know for a FACT that the posters were not trying to be offensive but I am in such a sensitive place that innocent random comments hurt me, and I want to run away to a safe place. I think you want this thread to be your safe place.

I can recognise the need .

    Ok my three positives:
    1. I finally got a positive response to an employment related appeal I've been making...after three prior rejections!

    2. I'm having a huge "I love my DH" moment... Ttc has been so hard on him (on both of us really) but he's been very sweet regardless!

    3. A few things that've been in the process since the year begun are all starting to fall in place. 2011 hasn't been bad after all!

    one more for the day

    4. I actually finished all the dishes - yay (a real achievment for me - as I hate dishes!!! - and always procrastinate with them... AND I mopped the kitchen floor....

tomorrow.... I will remind myself that I can start the day afresh.... and stick in all those routines that are important to me.

hmmmmm ok well here are my three for today....

1 - I got through the day even though I had to cover someone else's job at work today as well as my own and the day did not go to the plan I thought it would.
2 - My puppies always put a smile on my face when I get home and they are always so happy to see me.
3 - I was able to laugh at things today which would normally frustrate me and just brush them off.

Tomorrow: I will not place to high expectations on myself, not that goals etc are not important but I had an uh huh moment today when I realised sometimes I am to hard on myself and need to give myself credit for the great things I already do and not focus so much on what I don't have done.

love your ahha moment snikkers :-) well done :-)

    so mine for today

    1. even though i woke up late I still got on the exercise bike before doing anything else this morning - and managed to stay on for 10 minutes (i'm weaning myself on to it okay ;-) )
    2. actually got a kid to do what I wanted him to do in an assessment today :-) yay me...
    3. having a friend over tonight to help me plan the curriculum for a course I'm going to teach next year at a uni (which is terrifying but fantastic all at the same time) so I will enjoy two days in a row with friend company :-)

tomorrow: I will stay focused on task at work and get some report writing started - and try not to get distracted by the bosses silly requests and other people's chatter

my turn, well done on the exercise bike, any amount of exercise is good whether it is 10 minutes or 30.....

    today...

1 - I am happy that even though I had a big long meeting all day I did not come home from it overwhelmed like I normally would.
2 - I managed when I got home to prepare the mixture for a mud cake mind you 4x the normal amount of mixture as I am making a cake for a baby shower... so got the mixture done and dinner cooked as well as tidied the kitchen cake is in the oven cooking as we speak.
3 - and thankful I am feeling just generally ok, I have had my moments lately but today feeling good.

Tomorrow: not a big aim I just aim to try and get through the day with a smile and do what I can, as I will be up late tonight and have a 6:30 work start in the morning then after work home to do some cake decorating....

Ah my turn the pure joy of getting a child to do what you need in an assessment pure bliss I tell you! And snickers making a cake is good but for a baby shower is hero status!

    For me
    1. I too got a child to do as I need to at work today and this in turn helped the parent which made me smile

    2. We are at the beach tonight and with a glass of wine it is just so relaxing

    3. The warm weather was just beautiful today.

Tomorrow I am going to get on to the piling reports so that by the weekend I don't have to think about work. Now that will be nice.

    2. managed to get a large chunk of christmas shopping done :-)
    3. feeling generally content - and satisfied - probably helps that DH is home just in time - supposed to 'o' this weekend

so tomorrow.... will make sure I keep up my exercise bike routine in the AM - and get DH on track to meet me at the gym in the evening and on track with weekly menu.
