    trigger timing in IUI

I was hoping to get some advice/ Info on when everyone took their pregnal trigger before IUI, i have read that the trigger takes up to 36hrs to make you ovulate, yet with my last iui i had the trigger the night before insemination id love to hear everyones experience with this

the trigger for IUI is anywhere from 12 to 36 hours before ovulation - most try to, from what i've seen, do it 12-24 hours before. the insemination needs to occur BEFORE ovulation occurs so that the little swimmers are waiting for the egg - don't want to lose the eggie before the boys arrive

My first three triggers were done 24 hours before the IUI.

My fourth one, which is the one resulting in this little Bubble, was done 36 hours before IUI. The FS was experimenting, and thought he did the IUI too late and the eggie would be gone, but it worked.

I have always repsonded slowly to the medication (even on Clomid I wouldn't ovulate until after CD 18), so I think its important for your FS to monitor when after the trigger you ovulate. I always thought I was ovulating a long time after the trigger and IUI, and that only rouge spermies would have survived that long, and I have a feeling I was right!

Also, dont forget that the egg is usually viable for about 12-24 hrs after O so you really have a good window for the to get there and get busy.

Thanks for the replies im really interested as last iui was the ectopic and i was wondering if the insemiation was 2 soon after the trigger and old spermies were getting to the egg,if it ruptured to late. its also interesting that they play around with the timing of it
By the way big congrats leasha and to shel its just so awesome and i bet it feels great being on the end of the 12 weeks (and we think the 2 week wait is long!!!)

    Hi Sp
Yeah its all abit scary and i have a very trusting nature and to be honest last year having FT i bascialll let the clinic do what they wanted and put complete faith in them. But i decided this year to be more proactive in my treatment, which is a double edged sword, as i think sometimes you can look into it too much. Im still stinging i think from my ep, the hospital never forwarded my surgery notes to my gp or ft so i have had no answers and when i re started my treatment this year i had to explain everything again to my ft as he had forgotten the ep, i realise alot of the time they cant be explained but i had none of the risks before hand and have had 2 prior pregnancies so i guess i wanted to know why?
Good luck to you to SP lets get lots a BFP's in Perth

    Hi Sp
Im at fertility north in Joondalup, the nurses there are so lovely and everyone is very caring, i see Jay Natalwala and he is good but very straight to the point which i guess is not a bad thing. To be honest im not feeling bad enough with there service to look else where i do partially blame myself i tend to be abit too laid back with my health issues and can never think of questions till i come out of the doc's Ive heard great things about fetility specialists too.
Dont you hate the TWW but the stupid thing is i cant wait to be there (hee hee)
