TTC & Taking Clomid &/or Metformin ~ November 2006

Hi Bw,

Just wanted to let you know that Clomid brought my anxiety to the surface. Wasn't feeing great on it at all. Hope it will be out of my system in a week and then I will hopefully start feeling better. My FS told me to stop taking it as it wasn't agreeing with me - nausea.....I'll let you know how I am in a week. Anxiety and nervousness is a side effect of Clomid.

I read that in the side effects yesterday... I wouldn't have felt quite so insane if I'd thought to do that earlier in the week! I also never really expected to still be getting those side effects two weeks after taking it, but I guess if it makes us ovulate several days later, it's still doing something to our system so the side effects later on make sense.

What are your options if you can't take clomid, stillhoping? I'll be taking a break from it after this cycle, but I feel like if I'm aware of what it's going to do to me mentally, I can cope with it a bit better.

I have just finished my 3rd cycle on Clomid and can't put up with the side effects - mainly anxiety anymore, so we are havng a natural cycle and then going back to the Fertility specialist to discuss our options. Not really sure what they will be. I am on CD3 and still having anxiety from taking it days 5-9 last cycle, so it seems to hang around.

If your anxiety has gotten worse since taking Clomid, it is probably one of the reasons, so just have hope and hang in there that it wont be around for ever this bad. There will be an end in sight. Hope it works for you. It works for lots of people very quickly, just not me.

Looking at my chart this morning, it's starting to look like there's no way I actually ovulated at all this cycle.

I wonder if the fact that I was up at midnight puking my guts up has anything to do with it? Now, I can't stop shivering and I've got to go to work today and get this observation stuff started.

As for me I'm on cd 14 so nearly into tww again. Due to have bt on 8/11 to see if I O'd this month. Feeling really down atm as my #2 angel edd is tomorrow.

Yeah i am taking Metformin. Thats all for now. FS will consider giving me Clomid after i have completed this cycle plus one more. so he has three full charted cycles to compare.

Has anyone else come off the pill and had a few "normal" cycles and then a really long cycle? Im worried that having this long cycle will mean that all my cyclces from now on will be really long.

Also, when you have a long cycle does it mean that you ovulate really late? i was under the understanding that you only get AF when you have ovulated so even if you get AF on CD 55 for example, you must have ovulated just before? Is this right?

My day 21 blood test is tomorrow... feeling rather nervous about it - will be interesting to see what my temp is like tomorrow, too. I suspect that it was down this morning because I'm sick - I remember waiting to fall asleep completely unable to breathe through me stuffy nose and having to breathe through my mouth and worrying what effect that would have on my chart... add nocturnal vomiting into the mix and ugh!

I've just got back from seeing my GP, I'll need another course of antibiotics after this one, and I'm under strict instruction to not do another round of clomid until school holidays at least, just in case the clomid triggered my little freak out last week. I also need to stay at the increased dose of my antidepressents until at least the end of term before I start weaning off, just to make sure I get through with no more freak outs. It's only around another 6 weeks, so I think I can cope, and I've got provera if I have another horror length cycle (although I also know with that one to hide myself away for the time I'm on it!).

Oh yeah, first observation today went fairly ok, despite me feeling completely sick and revolting... and it appears that my HOD is on my side, and we had a good chat about where things are going and what I should do.

WalkingArt, if you take a look at the length of my cycles, immediately after stopping the pill, you can see that there's absolutely no pattern at all. You are correct about AF generally arriving two weeks after ovulation, so long cycles can sometimes be attributed to late ovulation, however (and you can also see this in some of my charts), sometimes you just don't ovulate at all.

Unfortunately you can get AF without having ovulated. It is usually a withdrawal bleed. With PCOS sometimes the lining will build up as normal and then when no ovulation occurs it falls away eventually. That is why often a withdrawal bleed has dark old chocolate blood in it.

Hi girls,

I've been incredibly busy the past week and it's not gunna get any better. We are taking cows to the local show and this week will be all about them! Sheesh.

I am on day 3 of my 3rd round of clomid and praying that this is the cycle (hear that body????). AF just hung around for ages this time (days of spotting before, a few days of spotting afterwards...sigh). And then to add insult to injury, I got a dose of thrush! So I have been sticking canesten up my hoo haa just so I can walk! Oh the pain of weeing!!!!!!

We are going to start BDing on CD 11 this time. O day has been very vague on FF and OPK are telling me cd 14 or 15. But waaaaaaay back when I was getting pg all the time, we would always start ttc on cd11. So, we are returning to that. And I'll drop off the later prescribed bd sessions. After all, when you are getting a =ve on an OPK, it sort of seems frutiless to be dtd after! Whadda you think?

Crazy charting things happening today!

I popped this morning's temperature in, and with the research detector it tells me that they can no longer be certain that I have ovulated. Switching back to the advanced one, my ovulation date jumps back to day 13... which is good as we had BDed on day 11 and 13 and I've been too sick for anything else since. Starting to feel somewhat more confident about my day 21 blood test today... shouldn't matter too much if it is 8 DPO rather than 7, should it? The crazy thing is that the advanced detector was always showing my ovulation date as day 14 until this morning.

Physically, I feel absolutely trashed... sore, achey muscles from the half hour of intense projectile vomiting the other night... I've been pretty much fine since, so it appears to have been something I ate, this sinus infection seems pretty much intent on moving to my chest (and coughing doesn't help the muscle aches!), but hopefully the second round of antibiotics should knock it flat pretty quickly.

Hayseed, I hope the lectures you have given your body and the earlier BDing do the trick for you.

Hayseed are you having follicle scans? I think I would request them if you are not. This takes a LOT of the guess work out of things and the obs will be able to tell you within days of when you will ovulate. It also gives a picture of what the clomid is doing for you. If you are getting negative opk's I would agree it isn't much point getting jiggy with it (unless for recreational purposes!) I didn't have follicular u/s when I took clomid but this time I am. I ovulated late (cd21 - prior to clomid I o'd on cd17) and we want to know what the ovaries are doing.

Butterfly - you have had a tough run. Today is your progesterone level yes? I am praying that it will be nice and high for you.

Debbie - Are you out there? I am thinking of you and wondering how clomid is doing for you.

Michelle - Are you okay? I haven't seen you around much.

Hey Dani,

i remember someone mentioning that you had a crazy chart the cycle you fell pregnant. What was meant by that. Was it not obvious that you ovulated? You see i have had such spot on cycles that now that this is a long one i dont know what to think. FS told me that you can still ovulate without it being obvious on your chart.

this was my chart. However, I ovulated on day 14/15 , so the cover line is wrong and temps dont show that either! hehe

Thanks Dani, so I guess the secret to finding out if your pregnant is to see if your line raises and stays up. Thanks for that.

Not really...i took my temps a few days after and they were low again..abotu 36.2. So really the only way to know if youre pregnant is to get a blood test!

I tested 16dpo with FMU and got a bfn, i tested in the arvo and got faint positives and then had a positive blood test.

Hey ladies,

Thought I would drop in here. I've been on Metformin since April and am half way through our first (and perhaps last) Clomid cycle (don't like Clomid much... want to do injectables w/IUI instead, or just plain Metformin - since I know I O'ed twice on just plain Met).

I have noticed some of you ladies talking about s/effects hanging around for ages afterwards... I have heard they can be felt 8 weeks after you stop taking Clomid!! Yuk!

I am on CD19 and there's been no clear sign of O. I noticed Flowerchild, you said you O'ed sooner w/o Clomid - that Clomid made your cycle longer... I wonder if this is pretty common? I used to sometimes get 30, 32, 33 day cycles before Clomid (although I only had about 6 of them)... and before Metformin as well... that was a year to 3 years ago now though, before my PCOS started going crazy for *no* reason whatsoever...

Anyone else get longer cycles on Clomid than w/o Clomid?

Anyone not O at all on Clomid? I'm on 100mg... had one 13 mm and one 11 mm follie on CD11 and am beginning to think it's not going to happen...
