That completely sucks, virgobabe! I know how it feels - I have severe PCOS, and it was hard enough dealing with that, but then we got the news that DH has problems with count, morphology and motility, so IVF with ICSI is our only option.

Fortunately, we have the money in savings to be able to start. Approx $3000 up front, but after medicare rebates, we should only be out of pocket for $700-$800. We couldn't start right away as we needed to get some things under control with my insulin levels. Even though the money to start with was there, we are still saving like mad so we can prepare ourselves for later cycles down the track. It would be nice to think that the first one will work, but neither of us are relying on that happening. We would never have taken out a loan for it, but that's just us and how we manage our money.

It's such a personal experience that nobody else can really tell you what to do. It's something you and your DH need to decide, in consultation with your clinic. Good luck with it all when you decide to go ahead and do it.
