Chicken Kiev is one of my favorites. I line the baking tray with baking paper or tin foil. Smear a little oil where the kiev's will be placed (not loads, cos of the butter). Cook in oven at 180 for 20min upside down, then turn and cook another 15 minutes. (cut one to check they're done properly right through) Serve on plates and pour the hot butter from the tray over the kievs. Serve with steamed vegies or salad. I like the idea of scalloped potatoes yum!

The best bit about them is the crispy crust and the garlic butter over everything.

I've eaten but never made scalloped potatoes. So i googled it and got the recipe. I just went out and bought some cream for it.

What do you guys mean by upside down? they are ovalish in shape, so were is it upside down?

Friday night's meal will be kievs, scalloped potatoes and salad.

I love Kiev's, it one I can prepare in advance. I put them in an oven tray ontop of grease proof paper, with cut up vegies, potatoes, tomatoes (topped with dried herbs), carrot, pumpkin and in the last 15mins of cooking throw in some broccoli into the tray.
If you buy them fresh from the butcher, usally 45mins and that includes everything above cooked with it. I cut the potatoes up small.
I don't worry about turning them, the juice fromt the kievs tends to run out a little all over the vegies....yummy!
Have a look at the taste website as they have great recipes and easy to follow...scalloped potatoes are one of my absolute favourite ways of doing potatoes, I use a recipe from my Cookery the Australian Way.
