Carpal tunnel syndrome - advice please?

    Hi folks,

I've just been diagnosed with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and have been told there is basically nought to do but wait it out. But I have 11 weeks to go! I was wondering if anyone else has sufferered from this, and what if yes, what did you do about it.

I find that the only thing that helps is a really hot shower. But the pain returns a few minutes after I get out.

    Any ideas please? Thanks

Hi, I'm not sure if this is of any help to you, it's a link to an info page on Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. I copied the treatment options section. I would give physio a try if you can afford it. If you have private health insurance they may pay a % or your hospital may also offer sessions covered by medicare to pregnant women if you see the hospital physio.

I hope your able to find something that will help ease the pain and help you get through the next 11 weeks.

    Treatment options

Treatment for carpal tunnel syndrome may include:

Rest from any positions or movements that make the symptoms worse
    Physiotherapy
Wearing a wrist splint, especially at night
Cortisone injections or tablets to reduce the inflammation
    Fluid tablets to reduce swelling

    Hi Shalou,
Thanks for the advice. I have seen a remedial massuer and after two treatments with no results, she has referrred me to a physio specialising in hand and wrist complaints. Wish me luck! Thanks
