    Question Dermatitis during pregnancy

Hi all, just doing some research for a friend. She is scared to try and get pregnant because she has really bad dermatitis and said that she would have to go off the cortisone cream (which is apparently the only cream that works) because she will be unable to use it during pregnancy. So she hasn't been trying to get pregnant because of the fear she will try to scratch her skin off !! Can't be a pleasant experience, I get eczema during pregnancy, but I can take stuff for that and its not too bad. Does anyone have any personal experience with this so I can tell her that it is safe to get pregnant and she doesn't have to worry about anything other than how to get the baby out!! haha!!!
    thanks in advance!!!

I have severe dermatitis, that gets extreme during pregnancy. I used the strongest cortisone cream avaliable in Australia, along with having UV therapy on my hands (which really is fantastic btw).

I have been reassured 100 times from my obstetrician and dermotologists that it is fine to continue to use my creams during pregancy, the only think you can't have is injections but topical application is fine.

There is an interesting study that i'm part of at the moment through the RCH in getting mothers to take extreme amounts of probiotics from 36 weeks onwards to reduce allergies in children.

I'm happy to answer any more questions about dermatitis and pregnancy and creams, i know there are a few threads about it, i'll try and track them down tonight.

You are welcome to give her my email if she wants to talk to me about it directly. It is really hard having severe dermatitis, but now that i have finally found a great dermo and a treatment that is managing it, it is a lot better.

My second pregnancy was so much better than my first one because of this, my first one i had the worst dermatitis ever, my 2nd we managed to keep in under control.

I may pass on your email to her if that is ok. :-) Thanks!!! I told her that I was "gathering information" and her response was "does it look hopeful".. So i think she would really like to not be scared!!!!! :-)
