    Default Fibriod Help

A few weeks ago I had my 3D scan and baby was well but they found "what they called a mass" now I would usually freak out about these things but the Dr was very reassuring that it is not in a place to be worried about at the "moment".
So yesterday I went to my Ob for my check up and he told me to get on the bed so he can run the ultra sound over me quickly to look at this "mass" which he later said is a Fibriod, anyways he told me that it is lower than he expected and may complicate things when the baby is ready to engage her head so this leads me to the long winded question has anyone had a Fibriod that has obstructed the baby which has resulted in a C-Section and if so what happened and did you have to see any specialists because of this? Because at the moment he seems to think that I might have to have a C Section but it is complicated because of where the fibriod is - and now I am freakin!!! I really hope this makes sense.

    Hi.

My fibroid was found at a 6 week scan.
Where abouts is yours located, and how many weeks pregnant are you? Do you know how big the fibroid is?

It was right at the opening of my cervix, and my doctor said he'd keep an eye on it, as it was quite small.

At my 20 week scan I think it had grown (still not super big, about 6cm diameter I think) and was still very low.

He said to wait and see, and that I could have a scan at 36 weeks if I wanted to, but that they can and usually will move out of the way as the baby engages.

He also said that it would take something pretty drastic for him to suggest a scheduled c/s becuase of it, and that he would alsways prefer to try natural first.

At my 36 week scan, it wasn't even visible to the sonographer. He had to check my records to confirm it had existed.

    I had a vaginal birth.

I haven't had it checkd since my sons birth.

I also had a cousin who had a much larger fibroid, I think it was at least 20cm. She did end up having an emerg c/s, but it was't due to the firbroid.

Sorry, I don't know if that helped you any, but I thought you would like to hear a positive story?

I like to hear stories like that it seems to calm me!! I am one of those Freakers!
Mine is located on my left lower side, I am currently 23 weeks and the fibriod is approx 6cm. My ob is going to check it out in another 5 weeks and see if it has gotten any bigger or stayed the same. I guess for me it was just the shock that there is something else in there that will obstruct the baby. I guess they only do what is good for you and your baby and either way i have to deal with it weather I like the idea of a c section or not!!

Yours sounds like its in the exact same place as mine, on ly mine was on the right

Its strange to me that he's going to check it so soon, as they sometimes don't move till the baby engages. At least thats what my OB said. He refused to check it before 35 weeks. I guess all providers are different. My OB is not big on c/s (well he's OK if he thinks they're unavoidable, but someone wanting an elective c/s would not choose him)
