I had gallstones too. Mine was removed about 3 weeks after DS1 was born.
I can't stress more strongly that it did NOT affect breastfeeding. I had fantastic surgical team. They took immense pride in the fact that they were supporting me to continue feeding. My anaesthetist worked hard to ensure I could feed DS as soon as i woke. I didn't, because i was tired and sore - but i could have! And the pain was also managed perfectly so that I felt great and could feed my boy the whole time.
