Hey KGB,

Awww big I know the feeling - I cried & cried when I found out (the other girls will testify to that, as I went through it on here not that long ago!). So saying, it DOES get better and easier to manage, it's just always a shock to start with. I also asked the same question as you re baby being taken away, and from what I've seen & heard, no-one on here has had their baby taken away for any period of time due to low blood sugar.

As for weight gain, I'm not sure. From what I've read, it's not necessarily a factor (maybe BMI when you first got PG is?). I know my BMI was in the overweight category when i first got PG, and I'd put on 5 kg by 24 weeks. I then put on 1kg till 30 weeks which I've now lost again, so that's been an unexpected bonus for me I guess. But I think everyone is very very different in terms of weight gain & like Tenny, I've heard of lots of skinny PG ladies getting GD. My dad also has Type II (I think that's the biggest risk factor TBH), but your levels sound really good! I hardly ever get 5's (and yes, I am on insulin).

I also found the diet for GD seems to be a bit different to Type II (less focus on fat & carb reduction - seems they really worry about cutting calories too much with PG) - according to my DE anyway... so will be interested to hear what they tell you to do. I found it wasn't as bad as I expected (and I have a very restricted diet due to another dietary condition).
So post your questions here, and we'll do our best to answer 'em... I had heaps of questions when I first got diagnosed.
