    Hi,

    Thanks for your replies

My uterus settled down that night so didnt end up going to get checked.

2 days later i got extremely sick though and did go to hospital where i spent 4 days, half of that in their high dependancy unit. I started vomitting blood and had to have a blood transfusion. My uterus was a bit irritable when all this was going on too, so i wonder if the first lot of IU was because of all this.

Chris- IU can be very frustrating cant it.

Kelly- Thats interesting that dehydration can cause IU, thanks for that information.

    Hi
Kristi - I am glad your out of hosp. Do you know what caused the vomiting??? Yes very frustrating, I am tired of not being able to do anything as just walking around can start it. When the pain gets too bad I have to go down to the hosp and they do a speculem and check the cervix and a Fetal Fibronectin to make sure I am not going into labour.

Kelly - I was told this by one of the midwives. I have to be careful as too much water makes me vom. I am drinking a range of things during the day so that I can keep hydrated.

    Cheers
    Chris

Chris- Severe reflux caused it, i probably have some ulceration in my stomach. Take it easy with your IU. I hope you can get to a good gestation, as frustrating as it is.

    Hi Kristi and Chris,

Just a suggestion for your irritable uterus - it can sometimes be due to an irritation in either your nerve supply to your uterus creating irratic muscle contractions and/or your pelvis being out of balance which leads to and abnormal pull on the uterus from certain ligaments.

If the doctors are not concerned about it and yet dont know how to solve the problem it may be worthwhile getting it checked out by another modality.

    Hope that helps you both.

    Thanks Clare

My Dr explained but I don't really understand it still. Something about me being 38 (next week) and it being my 4th preg (third to 3rd tri) and how the muscles etc are stretched from previous pregnancy's (life in general every thing goes south ) . The uterus getting bigger and more pressure on it as it pushes on other organs . All these things when they come together and can cause irritable uterus. Plus I have a few medical problems that are makeing me feel very run down at the moment.

I am under the Consultant at the High Risk clinic here in Newcastle. Even though I don't really understand what makes this happen (now with this pregnancy) I follow his instructions to rest and use heat packs and hot baths for the discomfort, and I can use panadole fort if the pain gets really bad. He has also recomended Accupuncture (sp??).

    Thank you!
    Chris
