Morning sickness. (disgusting, please don't read if queasy)
This may sound like a really dumb and gross question but is there any way of making vomiting easier? I have fairly bad nausea every day which more often than not causes me to vomit eventually, but I am finding the vomiting part really difficult. I feel the urge and gag so I go to the bathroom or grab a bowl etc, I can feel my body pushing so forcefully and yet it seems to struggle to bring anything up. I'm getting awful retching and gagging to the point where I can't move until it is over, it hurts my throat, and makes my body ache, but it seems like my body is working so hard for very little output? I know this sounds weird, but I can't help the urge to be sick so I was wondering if there was any way to make the process of being sick easier. I feel like I am doing it wrong? Is there something I can do to bring the contents of my stomach up with less effort? I feel so sore and exhausted afterwards that it makes it even more awful. I'm so embarrassed to be writing this, I just wondered if anyone can relate??
Perhaps a large glass of water or milk will be rejected by your tummy and bring everything up sooner? It will also make any food contents in your stomach easier to bring up. Hope it passes for you soon!
My last four pregnancies I have mostly gagged and gagged and gagged and nothing comes out, it is so full on, my throat hurts etc. I have tried skulling water, putting my fingers down my throat and nothing ever comes up. I hope it passes quickly for you, this pregnancy has not been anywhere near as bad. I had been drinking alot of raspberry leaf tea and the nausea has not been as bad. Also when I am tired or really hungry it is much worse resulting in said gagging for ages and nothing.
eat as much as you can
drink water and raspberry leaf tea(you can drink it cold if you like)
and make sure you are well rested. Hopefully 12 weeks ticks by super fast for you x
Thanks lovely people! The vomiting is mainly in the mornings and I have been avoiding breakfast until after I have been sick just because being sick with a full tummy is so gross. Perhaps if I ate my tummy wouldn't struggle so much. I can't complain, I know that less vomiting is probably preferable to most people, it's just in the past when I have felt sick the throwing up part felt like somewhat of a relief. Right now it doesn't because it's so exhausting just heaving away with not much coming up. It is definitely worse when I am sleep deprived, that's for sure. If I can manage to sleep through the 4am early nausea it is much better throughout the day but generally I can't function before about 1pm and I get some relief until about 5, then I'm ok after dinner and then sick again at bedtime. Pretty much everything makes me gag at this point!
Last pregnancy, I found that the first thing I did every morning for *months* was get up and hurl, and then I'd vomit periodically other times of the day.
All that I needed to do was lean over the bowl, and out it came, first thing every day. Heaps of bile, sometimes food. Yech.
Two things which frequently made me vomit during the day otherwise though were drinking too quickly (ie: having a big mouthful of water in a very fast gulp - that plus leaning over equalled instant evacuation of stomach contents) or brushing my teeth and tongue.
This was really annoying, because I'd have a gross taste in my moth (often from vomiting) so I'd brush my teeth, but if I'd unthinkingly brush my tongue (which I usually do, when brushing my teeth) my gag reflex was so sensitive that I'd projectile all over the place if I even got a third of the way up my tongue.
When I knew my stomach was empty, which was most of the time, I would drink some water before I knew I was going to throw up. It is easier to throw up water than bile. This also helps if you have eaten something that doesn't come up easily, like bread. The fluid helps moisten and lubricate. I know some who swear by milk as it is smooth, I doubt the milk would have hit my stomach at all before it reappeared for me though

Oh love I feel for you! I had hoagie king m/s 24 hrs a day 7 days per week until 26 weeks!
I would throw up so much that in the end I would just be laying in the bottom of the shower heaving and with my stomach contracting but not even bile coming up
I found drinking water would make me bring something up. It was horrible because I was so thirsty yet even a sip of water set me off. Have you asked your doc for some anti nausea meds?
I really do feel for you! I remember laying there begging my husband to make it stop I had no life for the first 26 weeks, I couldn't even leave the house because I would spew on myself.
I ditto drinking some water so you have something to throw up. I am still heaving in the mornings. It's mostly dry retching with blood and the occasional bile. I really hate dry retching. I should take my own advice too. LOL i guess i've been vomiting so long i just put up with it now
