I just realised I never came back in after my last appointment. It has been so crazy here with everything, the whole family has been sick with pneumonia *sigh*
Anyways, the last appointment I mentioned above the doc was talking strongly about c-section and epidural, but I went and seen her again since then and let her know how I feel about c-section/epidural and that it is on my list as a last resort. I want to try for waterbirth. The doc says that if things continue the way they are and I don't go into labour before 37 weeks there is no reason why I can't try for a waterbirth.
I have another scan booked for Saturday week (I'll be 36 weeks by my dates) to check fluid levels again and growth. We may look at being induced at 38 weeks.
I have been worried about the swelling in the ankles and the pressure in my belly (it feels like my belly will pop at times)
I have heaps of BH contractions and doc says that is common for ladies with polyhydramnios. DH gets a little wide eyed when they start coming every 15 minutes lol, but they only stay like that for a few hours usually. They have been as close as 5 minutes while being in the car though. They can be quite strong. I don't remember having BH with my previous pregnancies.
Apparently it is also very common to feel all the little aches and pains that most women don't feel generally. Because the belly has a lot more pressure, we are feeling everything. Sometimes the pressure is so great that I have to stop whatever it is that I am doing, just pause for a few moments and wait for it to pass.
i had this with all my pregnancys and the first 2 were not picked up until they broke my waters with the c sections.
just this time round with DS3 they noticed i was measuring ahead again saw they may of been a tad too much fluids so went for a growth scan.
DS3 was measured to be average and fine, but fluids were at like 28 and 29! but as my c section was less than a week away it was fine to continue.
day of c section he had decided he was coming ready or not lol, (no suprise i was ready to burst with baby and fluids!).
DS1 was 7lb14oz and 49cm long, DS2 was 8lb12 and a half oz, 52cm long, and DS3 was 6lb 15oz and 46cm long! my ob said some women's placentas just make more fluids and not to worry myself (but of course i did i thought they could pop at any second lol). its funny hearing all that water hit the floor it makes a huge splash on the floor lol
We had an ultrasound scan today. Bub is measuring 39 weeks (3 weeks ahead), 7 pound 12 ounces. Head measures 10cm across. Fluid levels seem to be in normal range now. Although in saying that I am still confused because the report states that it is in normal limits but it is at 20cm wheras the last scan at 33 weeks my doc said it was still a little high at 18cm. I'll see what the doctor says on Tuesday I suppose.
Its very hard to make out anything on the screen now as she is taking up so much room, we caught a quick glimpse of her face but she is so squished in there.
My belly has dropped. BH have been getting stronger. And bub has just started her vigorous activity again. I hope we're not going to have another night like last night.
Just wanted to let everyone in here know that I have found your posts amazingly helpful.
I was diagnosed with polyhydramnios on monday and have freaked out for the last two days. I am 35 weeks measuring at 41 weeks with a fluid measurement of 28. I feel like I have a fully inflated basketball in my abdomen and am struggling to breath and eat. I'm glad it is unlikely for me to make it full term as I just don't know how I am going to keep going like this.
Are you in a big enough hospital that you have the option of taking some fluid out? I know a lady who did that, she used to travel to Melbourne (500kms) and they would do an amnio type procedure.
Hope everything is going OK.
ryatha - i was measuring 29.1 when i was 31 weeks! by the time my son was born 3 weeks later i looked over full term! i hope your levels dont increase too much
Well had another growth scan today. My levels are now 27 down from 28 (Yay big difference NOT!). he is now over 8lb and really healthy. :-)
However the dr wouldn't even check my cervix or do anything cause I've had 2 csections. She said I'll have to wait it out as they won't do any induction at all, even a s&s :-(. Very disappointed as I am so uncomfortable with irregular contxs for the last 48 hrs and I know that even a gentle nudge would put me into labour.
Next appointment is tues and I'll insist on a chk and possible s&s. Or I may be lucky and have my waters break this weekend!
