Vegetarian women have healthy babies all the time- your baby will be fine!

Do you normally suffer from low iron? I don't and my iron levels never got too low in pregnancy but if you do then I'd be sure to make sure you are supplementing your iron. I took pregnancy multivitamins but I always had trouble finding a vegetarian one without fish oil but with all the other minerals I wanted to include (I particularly wanted iron, folate, calcium and iodine). This time I have found Swisse make a vegetarian pregnancy multi with all those. I take flaxseed oil capsules for omega. And I try to eat a varied, healthy diet- grains, legumes, fresh fruit & veg etc. I also eat eggs and dairy so I get animal fats and vit B12 that way.

I'm not sure about low iron causing problems with baby but I know low iodine can be an issue and as this is mostly in seafood it can be an issue for vegetarians. I know omega is good for baby's development too (take it whiole BFing as well).

All the best and don't let anyone tell you you are doing the wrong thing. You do not need to eat animals!
