Today it has really hit me. While my spd hung around til DS was about 22 months old, it settled a fair bit by the time he was about 12 months & only hurt after I went for a walk, or did too much around the house. Then slowly got better.
So, silly me happily forgot all the things I need to remember for the rest of the pregnancy & labour that I knew before. Like keeping knee's together where possible etc.
I did see a physio when DS was 4 months old, but silly me only just remembered that she suggested pelvic floor/inner core muscle exercises to help.
I think thats why it hasn't been as bad yet TBH. It started at 15 weeks full on with DS, but its only making itself felt when I do alot so far this time around (obviously vaccuuming the whole house wasn't smart). I think its coz I did pilate's for a few months, so my inner core might have been slightly stronger than before iykwim.
I plan to get a belly belt/support of some kind as soon as I can. I'll be asking my gp about physio/chiro & asking him his thoughts at my next appointment. (I will remember next time!)
What else is there? What did you use to relieve the pain. Actually a question for right now would be... what did you use when it hurt right down there?? The bones around the vajayjay... they are aching so, so bad tonight. Makes the rest not feel so bad!
So... anything at all that you tried, or that helped you, please post it here
Thanks guys
Subscribing with interest.... waiting for SPD to hit me again! Hopefully someone will have some good ideas for us both...
The only thing that eased the pain in my symphasis pubis (the front bones) was to lie on the couch with a cushion under my bum and my feet up on the arm of the couch. Taking all the pressure off my pelvis helped a little... but only until I stood up again!! I didn't find anything to help my sacro iliac joints (the bones in your bum). Unfortunately, the support belt didn't help me at all, although I have a girlfriend who swears by one in pg. Regular physio, twice a week, did help me stay on my feet in my last pg (my second, SPD in both pg).
Ice it and lay down for a while. Sitting uses your pelvis. If it is sore inside the an icy pole is good. Get a support belt. And have some panadol when you go down for a rest.
Lots of rest, walking only makes it worse, I second the ice pack too. I found that the support belt worked while I was walking but made it worse if I was sitting. Lots of pillows in bed help too, one in between your legs and one under your back. You can take panedine instead of panadol when it gets really bad.
Calcium & magnesium tablets. I was recommended these by my midwife when preganant with Anelise for restless legs, leg cramps & to help with SPD. I had no SPD at all with Anelise, but I had to so bad the pregnancy before.
Thanks guys. I never tried ice last time. Only heat packs etc. My dad suggested getting in a bath & holding the shower head on my bad hip. First as hot as I can stand it, then as cold as I can stand it. I haven't tried, coz I hate cold with a passion, but after yesterday it might be worth it.
I never thought much about sitting either. But I know sitting on my pc chair for too long hurts. I'll make sure I try to lay on the lounge instead of sit at the end of the day from now on.
Vaccuuming near killed me yesterday. I've asked that DH do that from now on. He's not too keen on the idea, but I'm pretty sure he will. At least til he finds another job anyway.
