Sagres - Im sorry to hear you have had to endure HG throughout your pg. How awful. I you have given birth already and are feeling well again.

From Scratch - How are you going now? Are you getting any relief yet?

AFM - Just a whinge really, 7 weeks today and vomited several times including bile, yuck. Whats worse is I dont even know if its a sticky one yet and this could all be for nothing.

    Hi fellow HG sufferers,

Can't say it's nice to feel at home in this forum I wish none of us had to be here!! But, it is nice to know I'm not alone.

I hope I can also offer you guys some support (I'm new to BB). I'm currently experiencing HG for the second time. It's as hideous as before unfortunately. With my DD (now 5) I had it the whole way through, peaking at 11 weeks, but was able to function reasonably well form 25 weeks. This time it started at five weeks and peaked at its worst about 12 weeks, where it remains. The whole time has been pretty gross so far.

I'm now almost 14 weeks and just started prednisolone. I've tried maxolon, zofran, doxylamine, phenergan and B6 with no relief. Because of my constant admissions for IV fluids they have now prescribed the pred as a 2-3 week course. I am putting so much hope into it working because I really feel that I can't keep going like this. As you guys know, this can be so debilitating. I reached a point of needing my lovely husband to help me shower and really, enough is enough. I want my life back!! Spending all day long in bed with no energy except to run to the bathroom is no fun, is it?!!

I was really worried about the pred being bad for the baby. Both my husband and I are nurses and my mum is a midwife so between us we did lots of reading and asking around. And of course I trust my obstetrician!!! Still, I had to sit on it and think about it for a while. Is anyone else taking it and if so, any luck? I'll be sure to update in case anyone is interested for their own benefit too.

Lots of love to every other HG sufferer. My heart aches for you. Being pregnant is SUCH a blessing and amazing but boy, this is hard! xx

Hi mumjen and welcome I cant help with the prednisolone but am very interested to hear how you get on with it!

Fromscratch- how you getting on now, any improvement??

Sagres- sooooooo????? You must be very close to have made it thru another pregnancy....

AFM- Broke my DH heart this week. I get HG but we were also LTTTC, we arent trying TTC but AF was 11 days later and he kinda thought we might of had that 'suprise' that lots of people get. Anyway it came and in 5 years of TTC and IVF I have only ever seen him heartbroken once, I literally crushed his entire spirit. I feel like the crappiest wife ever, I cant say sorry enough that we arent that couple who just goes 'whoopsie, we are having a baby' bad week, sorry girlies

Lilydust, we are not a couple who ever (or will ever!) get a whoops baby either!! I wish That would have been soooo nice and less stressful. There definitely won't be another baby for us after this one though because, to be honest, I just can't do HG again. Everyone is different but for me I feel like this baby is such a bonus anyway. He/she took so long to get and there were many obstacles so am going to count my blessings and have my two (a five and half year age gap seems quite a bit as it is!). Anyway, am going to get my tube tied either during a c-section or post partum.

I am THRILLED to report that on day four of the prednisolone I am seeing HUGE results. Guys, I can't tell you how good it is to eat and not vomit, to drink without needing to be near a toilet right after but best of all to not feel like I'm dying. This would sound dramatic to anyone who hasn't experienced HG but you guys will get what I mean.

I spent ages reading every medical journal article I could find on the net last night. I am very confident in its safety but I wouldn't try it until after ten weeks. If you are past that point, even better if you're into your second trimester, it's sooooo helpful. So far so good.

Today was the first time in nine weeks I haven't vomited, the first time I've made and eaten dinner, first visit to a supermarket AND even the post office. That is more than I've done this whole pregnancy (the sickness started really early.. five weeks and got worse from there).

Hope everyone is doing ok. x

    Hi gals,
thanks to Mods for fixing the address thingy in my last post. Is there a thread somewhere where I can read up about it and not having the addy turn into a link? Please?

Wow mumjen that sounds great. Will speak to Ob about that! Hope it continues to give you relief. xxoo

    Well 10 weeks tomorrow.
Maxalon nolonger works and Zofran has sketchy results having trouble taking vitamins and B6 not that I think the B6 is helping.
Am tired of the zofran hangovers and all the pill popping. I don't like the feeling of the temporary Zofran high, it makes my mind race.
    Zofran for the sickness,
    panadol for the zofran headake,
sleeping tablets for the insomnia from the zofran and
now need laxative for the loss of progress in that department.
Have had a couple of hospital stays now for IV's and rest not that you can call hospital stays rest. Well rest from the vomiting and I must say lovin the anti nausia drugs via IV. I mean who was the genious that invented anti nausia meds in tablet form? really now.
Having trouble drinking anything but have found relief in sucking ice cubes. Not icy poles just plain ice cubes.
Having trouble with hypersalivation again. And so sick of eating tiny itty bitty meals that revisit within a few heartbeats. Although finding old fashioned baked custard like gran used to make in small amounts something I can stomach. I can not have any other dairy though? Also tinned pears in syrup not juice seam to stay as well ATM but thats about it at this stage.
I would like to pee and not vomit, big on my wish list atm. And the god awful taste in my mouth gone. That one is huge on the list.
Today was a good day for the most part. And even had exciting news, dd has her first loose teeth two of them she is excited.
Hope you are all doing well.

Fromscratch, honestly, I can't possibly rave about prednisolone enough. My life has changed 100% and done a total turn. This time a week ago I could not function. You know what I mean, I'm sure. I get you on everything you mention. For me, zofran did nothing. At times I got a little relief from the combo of B6 and maxolon but rarely. The hospital admissions are a thing of the past (last one was last monday so I've gone six days which is a record). I can eat, I can drink, I can shop, I can live a normal life.

If you're into your second trimester, pred is the bomb. It is safe for the baby, most importantly.

Good luck with whatever you decide and hang in there. I know how you feel and it sucks.

    xx
