Unhappy 4 year old has knee pains. Leukemia symptom??

I am so worried tonight. My 4 year old never complains about anything and at about 5.30pm today he said that he wasn't feeling well and he thinks he should go to bed because he is really tired. This is not like him at all. We usually struggle to get him to go to bed. He kept saying that his legs were really hurting. He said that it was his kness. We went to the shop for about 30 minutes this morning and he kept saying that he was too tired to walk because his legs were hurting. I didn't think anything of it really at the time but now I don't know what to think. I have been googling, which I probably shouldn't do as everywhere I look it seems to say it's one of the first symptoms of leukemia. He didn't eat any dinner and just wanted to go to bed. His eyes were a bit glazed so I gave him neurofen and he was asleep the minute his head hit the pillow. Has anyone experienced this? Apparently he is way too young for growing pains so I don't know what to think. Thanks heaps

Lukesmum, my son has had growing pains on and off over the last few years, and he's 5. So it could be that. There are also flu bugs that cause aches and pains. So it could be that. I know it's hard (especially with the temptations of google), but try not to worry about it tonight. If he's not feeling 100% tomorrow, take him to the Doctor to get him checked out.

Dr Google is no good for us worrying mothers! Is it only today that this has happened? If so, maybe he is just coming down with something. There are a lot of colds and flus going around atm and some can make you feel a bit tired and achey.

I alway suffered from pains in my knees and legs from a young age (I still do), and had loads of tests (including for cancer and arthritis), but it is just one of those inexplicable things.

Keep an eye on him over the next few days, but I'm sure it's not as serious as you fear

Thanks Christine and Trish, I was feeling ok before I googled. It probably is just a bug or maybe even growing pains. The pains have only been today.

You have made me feel better. Thanks heaps. You have brought my mind back to a better place. I will take him to the dr in the morning if he still has the pain.
