I passed out a couple of times when pregnant with DS and it was because my blood sugars were too low.
Dunno about the back pain though. I'd go get checked out just in case.
While at work tonight i almost passed out, it is the second time its happened. The pain of my back/hip becomes so intense that i become very light headed, everything gets dark and i have to sit down.
But tonight i felt really giddy afterwards, couldnt stand still, i felt cold all over and just wanted to go to sleep.
I feel ok now but it had me so worried, is passing out bad for the baby? i just know that one of these days ill pass out.

What has your BP been like hun?
It may be on the lower side, perhapy lie down and elevate you legs to get the blood flowing back into your head and get your BP checked. xxoo
does the back and hip pain shoot down you leg/s at all?
The pain shoots down my right leg but i feel some dull pains in my left sometimes too. My BP whenever i get it done seems normal always around 130/60
go to your gp. it might be sciatic nerve pain - when i get that i experience the same symptoms you described, getting hot, everything going back like you are going to pass out etc.
it happened once while iwas crossing the road and if i hadnt been in the middle part (it was very big, busy road in the city) and had a pole to hold on to I would have collapsed on the ground.
Yeah that reminded me Ray, I get sciatic pain in the beginning of my pregnancies - starts off as a pain in my butt (literally) like in the upper corner of it? And the pain extends all the way down my leg and into my foot.
If its sciatic pain - go to a physio as well, cos mine starts as sciatic pain and goes into SPD - and you don't want that if you can help it!
YES!!! that is EXACTLY what it feels like. DP looks at me like i am insane when i say my butt hurts, the pain is around there and my hip and then my lower back. Sometimes when the sharp pains happen i feel them all the way down. I almost feel myself falling over from the pain.
I will be definitely seeing about it as id hate for it to turn into something more serious.
eat food?
I had eaten food an hour prior to it happening so it wasnt that. I had also been drinking lots of water. i drank half of a 2 litre bottle of water so was well hydrated.
If its sciatic pain, you can do something at home to fix it. You should be able to find a 'knot' kinda in the middle of your bum cheek. Get your DP or a friend to massage it, cos this is where the pain is coming from. When my DH gets sciatica, i find it easier if he lays on his tummy, and i rest my elbow on the tight muscle bit, and put pressure down. (my hands hurt, but elbow works). It helps to release the tension and then the referred pain.
If you can see a physio, even better! but some home massage may help too
If you google images of the sciatic nerve, or look at an anatomy book you can see where the nerve usually goes.
take care,
Thats what DP does. He said he could feel a huge knot a little while ago when i complained of pain. Last night i found it again i pressed on it and the pain was so bad. I have woken up this morning and both my hips and lower back are so sore. I can barely move and i have to work 6 hours today... hopefully i can get through today and tomorrow. I have monday off i will rest and then when i see my doctor on tuesday i will mention something.
Yeah, i know it can really kill BUT if you can work it out the ongoing pain will lessen. A dr probably wont be able to help out much (cos most anti-inflamm drugs are out whilst you are pg), but if you can see a massage therapist or physio, they might be able to help loosen you up.
There are also some stretches you can do to relieve the pain. Sitting and place the leg on the affected side of the opp knee (ankle over knee) and leaning forward often gets a good stretch there. A physio will be able to help you manage sciatica pain.
If you're experiencing huge amounts of pain followed by blackouts or dizziness, it is likely that your blood pressure is HIGH during those moments. A common physiological reaction to pain is an increase in blood pressure, breathing, and heart rate as well as sweating. If you feel like that, sit down until it passes. Take deep slow breaths to try to bring your heart rate back down.
If this has happened more than once, I'd get it checked out hon![]()
I get DH to do this all the time cause I've had really bad sciatic pain this pg and had it last one too.
Hurts like hell (to the point I cry) but man it feels so much better after he does it! Especially when he puts a heat bag on there after for me. I took DH to the physio with me so he could show DH how to do it so when I couldn't get into see him DH can massage it.
I'd say that you could be developing SPD and if so then best get it dealt with now as it will only get worse.
Im stupid whats SPD? is it more serious that sciatic nerve pain?
Symphysis pubis dysfunction is a condition in pregnancy where the ligaments stretch too much and you end with pain in the back, pelvis and hips. It starts off feeling like sciatic pain and then the pain stretches to your pelvis. It can be incredibly painfull to do certain things and affects the way you can give birth too. You can get help though and see physio etc to limit the pain. Alot of woman on this site have had it including me.
