GBS is a bit controversial - many hospitals no longer even test women anymore because you can test + one day and then - the next. As far as "policy" goes remember that's all it is. If you want to refuse to have the AB's refuse it. If you want to stay at home in early labour then do it hun. I tested + with Izzy and then had a test with James that was neg, but get this, they wanted me to have the AB's every 4 hours anyway. I said that I didn't want them, the midwife quietly agreed with me, put it on my file that I was informed, and refused. She said we could monitor bub for temp at every feed anyway to make sure all was ok. You could do that at home anyway, monitor temp and if you are concerned get bub checked out. Women who test neg can have a bub that is affected by GBS that's the thing so they do have to cover themselves, but just because you test + doesn't mean bub will definitely get it.
