    Exclamation Thrush??

I am 30 weeks pregnant. I have had thrush since about 15weeks. I have been to the doctors and have tried the caneston pessery and cream and it does not help atall, doctor says theres nothing more they can do, I just need to live with it. I am really stressing out about it as I feel I can't get close to anyone, esspecially my partner (he does not have thrush). I need to wear a sanitary towel evry minute of the day because of the discharge, which I don't imagine is helping. I have heard to eat yogurt helps and am trying this. Can anyone give me any other advice on this. What not to eat or drink and whats best to eat and drink, please be specific as I'm not clued up on what contains yeast. Are there any other medications that are safe during pregnancy. Thanks.

I would go to my dr! They know what you can use during pg and maybe it isn't thrush after all but something else? Good luck

Although i am no expert on thrush i do know that thrush is a yeast inbalance
Stop eating anything with yeast for a bit such as breads etc
also Yahult or any other yoghurt or fermented drink that has live bacterias in them

I am not sure about to do this when being pg, but they say you can actually apply yoghurt to the affected area to help it as well.

You can get stronger creams etc, from the doctor if all else fails, but try to balance your system back up naturally first.

You poor thing, thrush for so long must be soo uncomfortable

    take care

Try a natural, plain yoghurt and apply it to your bits (yep, down there). Pharmacist told me about that one.
    Also try drinking cranberry juice.
I had the same problem, extemely bad thrush when pregnant with Emily.
I did start a thread about this, and Kelly suggested something which is available in the bb online store. I'll have a look and get back to you on that one. I didn't get a chance to buy it as I had Emily only a couple of days after I started my thread.

You can use a product called ecovag. It is good bacteria in a pessary form, so it goes to where its needed rather than to the stomach (by eating yogurt). You could also try acijel to acidify the vagina. both available through your pharmacy. If the vaginal environment is alkaline, thrush thrives. Avoid eating anything sweet/ with sugar. cotton undies and wipe front to back after going to the loo. don't use intimate cleansers or soap. wash with warm water and a pH 5.5 wash like sebomed. Apply canesten Cream (discard applicator) externally each time you go to the loo. wipe with wet toilet paper.

Also, what sort of discharge is it? white and cottage cheese like (no smell) is thrush. A more liquid yellow/greenish fishy smelling discharge is a different infection. You should see your doctor.

I agree with Trish3 you can easily pass on the infection to your dh so use protection.

LACTOBACILUS is really good for getting rid of thrush. Anything like Inner Health plus or you know the good bacteria you can get in the fridge at health food shops or a lot of chemists these days have them too. Yougurt up the V-jay jay is also an oldie but a goodie, he!he! Good Luck

i just got a case of this because I am taking antibiotics. I don't know what was worse...the UTI (which is why I got the antibiotics) or thrush! ARRRRRHHHH!

I rarely take antibiotics and have only ever had thrush once before (again after taking antibiotics), so I completely forgot to start taking inner helth plus when I started the course. Doctors should warn you when they prescribe them.

I am trying the canestan. Hopefully that will work.

Belle- thanks for all the tips.
