I'm sorry if my reply came back as not sympathetic - I really hope all the tests come back positive and it's just some weird virus making it's way out of his system.

Did the GP check his BSL? (the one on the finger pad?) I know when my friend (in her 30s) suspected she had it (as her sister & mum do) she checked herself on her sisters machine and her levels were sky high - so you would think your son's would also be if he did have and that would give you some indication.

If it is diabetes it is really hard to come to terms with any chronic ongoing condition that your children have, you would do anything to take it away and have it yourself (my son is on the autism spectrum), but you can't unfortunately. And yes, the reality is you will spend the rest of your life trying to educate people But there is also a lot of wonderful support out there that does help And I was trying to put a positive spin on it, because now that my niece is part the chronic part and they pretty much have it managed via her peg etc (there are also hiccups along the way if she gets sick, or something happens to the machine etc), but for the most part she is just a gorgeous happy carefree girl whose diabetes is a small part of her life. I think it is useful that her parents look at it as a small thing in the background of what she has going on, rather than getting anxious and overt the top all the time, as it helps my niece see herself as normal also. Yes, she can't eat whatever she wants at party's, but that is the same as plenty of kids with allergies, ut mostly she is just her IYKWIM?

well ive been keeping myself busy today, cleaned 2 bathrooms top to bottom, now trying to look forward to my ob appt at 130pm and seeing bub again!
The more i have been thinking, the more positive i have been today, he doesn't seem sick at all (i know they dont always) and the fact he doesnt have all the symptoms is a good thing too.
i've left a msg at the gp's for him to ring me, he will be back in after 230pm
Yael your post wasn't harsh, my ds1 is also on the Autism Spectrum so we've been through alot with him too, part of my sadness has been thinking ds1 has that, ds2 may have diabetes, what the heck is baby 3 gonna end up with.....

just updating with some GREAT NEWS!!

Not only does Ty not have diabetes, his iron levels, folic, b12 etc were all within normal ranges!! I'm gobsmacked in the best way to say the least! I only heard from the doc half an hr ago so its been a long day, but he said he must be absorbing the little food he is eating quiet well (besides loosing neally 1kg in 3 months)
he suggested seeing a paed if we wish, but i also work with a nutritionsit and a dietition so i may seek some advise from them first.

i can't say how releived we are everything is normal, as for his random vomitting well maybe its his body's way of getting out an uglies that doesnt sit well inside him..

thank you to all for your concern an advise its been a long 30hrs

My cousin has Type 1 diabetes but wasn't diagnosed until she was a teenager.

Her health is good and she has two little girls of her own now. I know she's always on top of it and is very diligent about her health and the possible ongoing issues that come, but it hasn't stopped her living an otherwise normal life.

is that the inner health plus? ive given it to him before after he's been on anti biotics.
gonna have a chat tonight to the dietitian i work with and see what things she can suggest and hopefully get some food and good stuff into this boy!

Maya- haha thanks, it was such a relief, i wasnt excited at all about my ob appt yesterday with my mind elsewhere, so yes now hopefully i will just concentrate on being pregnant!
