    Default whooping cough

can you get it as an adult?
does it necessarily have to "sound" like whooping cough? i.e. can you have it without the classic sounding cough?

my dad had whooping cough maybe 15 years ago - no "whoop" to the cough - just lots of coughing - he'd black out in the middle and stop breathing - took them six weeks to diagnose it...

my adult cousin also got it around the same time - and no, no whoop with her either..

My brother had it as a kid, it took 3 paeds annd at least 2 months to diagnose. His had the sound though.

I had it as an adult, not so much of the whooping sound but I'd keep coughing until I'd black out, couldn't stop at all and catch my breath. Nasty.
