    misoprostol

    hi
just wondering if anyone has used this before? I had a incomplete miscarriage back on 28 March and further scan on 15 April showed a small sac still present. Dr prescriped 2x200mg Misoprostol tablets p.v which I inserted last night at 730pm

I probably had mild cramping for a little while over night and maybe a few minutes here and there today of mild cramping again. I still have had no bleeding at all.

Has anyone had an previous experience with this medication? I would love to hear some stories on how it worked etc. My dr has said to wait until tmrw morning to see if has worked, but i think after that it will be official it hasnt worked and i will probably need to go in for a D&C which i was really trying to avoid..

    Thanks for any advice guys.

I was only given it in hospital, in preparation for a d&c. It certainly brought on the cramps!

Hugs Hun, I'm so sorry for your loss I was prescribed mitaprostol during my third mc (missed miscarriage at 12w). I was booked in for a D&C that day but the mitaprostol was given to ripen the cervix. 15 minutes after I took the medication blood was pouring out of me (I hadn't been bleeding) and I was in such excruciating pain I couldn't move. My DH rushed me to the hospital and I had an emergency D&C. Turns out the baby was stuck in my cervix keeping it open.
So in my experience it worked straight away. I really hope it happens for you soon and you can start healing. Massive xx

    misoprostol

Sorry for your loss AM I also had a missed miscarriage at 12 weeks and chose misoprostol over a D&C... Biggest mistake! The first dose was fine, I started cramping and bleeding like AF. But I had to go back a few days later for a scan to see if everything was gone.

I had a second dose about 11am that day cause the first hadn't been sufficient. At 3:30pm I started getting AF pain and it rapidly got worse and worse. My AF pain is pretty bad to begin with so it really says something that I was in the absolute worst pain I've ever been in. Mum was with me and said it looked like I was in worse pain than labour. Having gone through labour since, I agree. My reaction to misoprostol was MUCH worse. I was dosed up on every allowable dosage of painkiller imaginable and nothing even scraped the sides. I vomited a couple of times and spent 8 hours in absolute writhing somebody-please-kill-me agony until we finally went to the hospital at 11pm and and only a drip of Maxalon and Tramadol got rid of the pain. Never again! I really hope you don't experience that!
