I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. No words will make that better.
When i had my first MC I was only 4 weeks but I had excruitiating (sp?) pain horrible horrible cramps poor dh did not know what to do whether or not he should take me to the hospital etc - so yes I guess this can be normal. As for the bleeding everyone is different but it can take a while. It is good that you are going to the Dr though just to be sure everything is ok - they will be able to give you the advice and support you may need.
they may even offer you a curette, I wish I had taken this offer when it was given to me at the time, as I believe it didnt help me hold onto the second baby either. but that is just my opinion. You will cease bleeding completely with a curette too.
If you need someone to talk to feel free to PM me.
I'm very sorry that you're going through this and although I can't tell you what's normal and what isn't, I can only share my experiences when I had a miscarriage at about the same as you.
The cramps were very bad and I had to stay in bed for a day and a half. They were much, much worse than period cramps and having since been through labour, I have to say that they were much sharper and yeukier than being in labour (even though it was relatively an early miscarriage).
I bled for about six weeks afterwards.
I did go to hospital and they said that a D&C wasn't necessary as my body was dealing with it on its own.
But if you're concerned, do seek further medical advice.
Once again, I'm very sorry that you're going through this. Words are never enough in a situation like this sweetheart.
It's been about three weeks of bleeding for me, and it finally seems to be getting near the end. My pregnancy was about 10 weeks along. It took a lot longer than I expected. I'd have a day with only a little spotting, then heavier bleeding the next day, then back to spotting for a day. It's all very frustrating, not knowing when it's going to stop. I'm finally down to a little spotting with brownish blood, so I'm praying that it's winding down. I had to go to the emergency department once when the pain and bleeding got really bad, and I was lightheaded. There was some material stuck in the cervix, which is why the contractions and bleeding had gotten worse. They helped clear the blockage and gave me fluids and pain medication. They told me that if I developed any kind of fever to come back. I haven't had any major problems since, though this is a pretty horrible experience overall.
Talk to your doctor if you have any concerns about infection, etc--my OB and the staff in the office have been very nice when I had questions for them.
I ended up at the Dr this morning.. and embarrassingly enough.. my uterus was fine.. my bowels.. not so much. acutely constipated!
so i'm feeling much much better now, and still have my scan on Monday, so hopefully all will be clear and the bleeding will stop.
bookworm - i'm the same.. off and on bleeding, heavy light and everything in between.
fiona and salad -thank you for your kind messaged. I kind of wish i knew that i could request a D&C. they kind of made it like i had no choice, but talking it over with my Dr, it seems like i did actually have the choice.
