I'm so sorry for your loss and I'm sorry you are going through such a confusing time right now. I don't really have any answers for you, just sympathy. I had my first m/c in January of 2007 and they couldn't find anything in my uterus during the u/s, but they did find a small mass in my right tube and believed it may have been an ectopic pregnancy. My hCG levels were checked regularly because apparently they can rise a little, but mine didn't and my body took care of everything. It was a very confusing time because no one could tell me for sure what was going on and no one from the hospital called me with my BT results (like they promised they would), I had to jump over hurdles to get the results.

I guess they will check your tubes again today? I hope you get some answers, I really do understand how frustrating the not knowing is. Wishing you all the best .

Thank you so much Trish & Mummy2Chloe - and I am so sorry that you have also experienced miscarriages - they are so hard both mentally and physically.

Trish - how far along were you when they were able to see the ectopic?

I just returned from my U/S - I grilled the dr who performed it and then spoke to my FS. Basically, they still can't see anything definitive..and this is highly unusual (lucky me). Based on how I'm presenting (my HCG pattern, what they see/don't see on my U/S, the fact that I have had very little pain except for the cramping that came with the bleeding), my FS believes that I have product left (this is actually best case scenario for me at the moment so I'm actually happy about this).

I was presented with 2 options:

    - wait and see at least a week - with time, whatever is in me will grow - and when it grows they should be able to see it
    - have D&C on Friday - to remove suspected product

I chose #2 - having D&C on Friday - given that this is the likely situation, I just can't mentally handle waiting. My FS said that she will immediately know from seeing what is removed during the procedure whether there was product left so that when I wake up from the anesthesia, she will be able to tell me.

Downside and worse case - I have procedure and there is nothing. They have explained that the one thing they are sure of is that something is going on. HCG levels NEVER rise for no reason - thus somewhere in my body, something left from my pregnancy is growing. If it is not in my uterus (and thus not removed by a D&C), it means that it is probably ectopic. As they can't see the ectopic on the scan at a point in time when I would be 8 weeks pregnant, it would be most likely that it is an ectopic that is on the fringes of my tubes - where they abut the uterus (does this make sense? I am recapping what I think my FS said). I think my FS explained that if this is the case, they will not be able to address the problem via keyhole surgery (which is what would be used for an ectopic that is wholly in the tube). The only option would be that drug that begins with "mex.." something - this is used sometimes for ectopics. The big downside of this drug is that you are not allowed to conceive for at least 2 months after taking the drug. As you can see from my signature, I am too old to have to sit out 2-3 months. To me, this would be a really, really sad and devastating outcome. I am wishing and hoping that they find product on Friday - otherwise I think I will lose it.

oh crickey, i am so so sorry darl

this must be so very stressful for you, its hard enough to go through a miscarriage but to have this happen as well must be so hard. its very strange though isnt it?? that your levels are still rising but yet they cant see anything. i really hope they find something on friday sweetheart. i would hate to have to wait a few months as well, plus the last thing you want is it to be eptopic. i just wish i had the words to help you feel better.

please please take care and know that i am thinking of you and will be thinking of you on friday

once again i am so sorry that this is happening

I'm sorry they weren't able to answer your questions today.

I was approx. 6 weeks pregnant with my ectopic pregnancy. I was also told about the drug you are referring too and was told the same thing about waiting to TTC, I am praying you won't need to worry about having it, that they will find something on Friday.

You will be in my thoughts and prayers .
