    Unhappy PROBLEMS after D&C

    Hello,

I am very concerned right now. I had a D&C 4 weeks ago this Friday October 5, 2006. I am currently bleeding like crazy. I go through one pad ever hour or so. The thing is yesterday I ended up going to the ER. 8 hours later and a whole bunch of tests they told me everything looked fine and it is just my hormones going crazy.

Still this does not feel right. I don't feel like this is normal. I have researched it and I haven't found anyone else with my same or simular situation. Has anyone experienced this or is experiencing this? I am so worried and nervous that something is wrong and maybe they didn't see it; but I did go to the hospital and they did do all the tests they could do. Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you.

    Hi Tori.
I haven't been through the same thing but I think you should go and get it checked out. One pad every hour sounds like a lot, and it's better to be safe.
    I hope everything is ok!

So I went to the doctor today and she gave me birth control. She told me that she "thinks" it may be my hormones are off and that is what causing all of this blood. But yet again she is unsure. I really hope this works. I hate birth control, but anything to make the blood stop I will do right now. It got even worse today. I don't know how I am still alive or not anemic yet from all of the blood that has been coming out of me! So I guess I am just going to have to see what happens...

Does anyone know the reason why birth control makes you gain weight? Right now I am in the process of trying to lose weight so I am terrified to gain it... So maybe if I can figure out why it makes you gain it I can prevent it!

Anyways thanks for your replies have a great night!

I don't know why it makes you gain weight. But since I've been off it I haven't been as hungry, so maybe it just makes you hungrier. So just watch what you eat and try to stay healthy and you should be fine.

I'm glad you went to the doctor. I hope it all gets fixed up now. Good luck, you poor thing!

    Hi Tori,

I really hope the bleeding has eased off for you now.I can understand your concerns as it sounds as though this is not just a small amount of bleeding, i would seriously consider going back to the hospital and ask them to do a ultrasound so they can see if there has been anything left behind after the D&C.

    Take care,

The bleeding is still here. It's crazy! I am not sure how I am still alive from losing all of this blood. I have went through a 24 pack of pads in a day and a half! That's how bad it is!

    But thanks for your replies.

And when I went to the hospital they checked everything... did the ultrasound, took the levels for whatever and they said that I am perfectly healthy! I don't understand. They didn't really give me an explaination just said that maybe it was my hormones and stress. That's why my doctor put me on birth control to see if that will help! I feel like a human experiment!

Sounds all weird to me... but I'm no Dr!

Firstly I am sorry for your loss, it's a horrib;e thing to go through.

Secondly, my D&C experience was very different, so I can't give you any help there, I stopped bleeding after about two weeks, and the whole time it was quite light bleeding. So sorry I can't be of help there.

I would encourage you to see a private obstricean (ok sp bad!) and get there thoughts, it doesn't sound right to me. You know your body better than anyone else, so if you don't feel right don't stop until you get the answers your happy with.

Good Luck and Thinking of you

    Hi Tori
It don't sound good to me you should not be bleeding like that, I'm no Dr but it don't sound natural.
Try and take a Multi vit tablet or even just an Iron supp might help you feel better in your self. Being anaemic makes you feel really crappy.

I know how it feels to hear Dr's say"I'm not sure but try this treatment it might work". I have endometriosis and have been on that many hormone treatments its not funny I ended up telling them no more and just took pain killers for pain because it felt like nothing was working and I couldn't take anymore (physicaly and mentally). Now after my miscarriage I am getting it again with all the complications I have had in the last 12 months.

I hope they get to the bottom of it soon. So they can give you a reason this is happening.
    Try and take it easy.
    Take care

Hi Tori, wondering how you are getting on!I hope it has settled or stopped for you but this is my story....
I had the same thing with my very first miscarriage...was just crazy, just flooding and everything everyday for about 6 weeks..I too was an experiment,,they did another dnc..still bleed.. they did the camera thing to see if anything was left behind..still bleed... I was put on the pill and it just carried on...then one ay I was sitting on my couch totally exhausted from the whole long 8 week drama by then,(i was enemic by now) and I felt like something was leaving my body...sure enough rushed to the toilet and what appeared to look like a tiny starting of baby fell out!!! I stopped bleeding almost instantly..now they couldnt explain how it was left there or how they didnt see it on the camera...I took it into them and it was all checked out and sure enough thats what it was...a 9 week pregnancy! so that was my story, needless to say when I had my next miscarriage and had to have a dnc I was scared silly, but it went as it should..... hugs to you

Hi Tori, I was hoping that you were okay and that things had settled down. I understand what a horrible experience this is. It feels like your body is conspiring to make it hard to move on.

I had a D&C 5 weeks ago and 3 weeks after that I was bleeding so much that at some points I couldn't leave the bathroom. When I could, I was also going through 1 or more pads an hour. I have a wonderfully caring GP who I have been in contact with through this whole process. She sent me for a vaginal ultrasound (not sure if you had one). They discovered that there was some retained tissue which is what was causing the bleeding. We decided to see whether it would resolve itself but its been 5 weeks now and it hasn't. So now, I am off for another D&C. Its a horrible thought but hopefully it will resolve all the physical symptoms.

I hope that you are fine. I understand how the bleeding makes it really hard to get on with normal life - do to work etc.

    Take care.

Personally, I'd be on the phone to my doc and not shut up until I got some decent treatment. Maybe (and this is just a theory) your uterus lacks muscle tone and isnt' contracting hard enough to stop the bleeding. My doc put me on methergine after my third mis and it worked pretty well. Good luck and let us know.

i was like that with my mc my fiance just was so worried he kept rushing me to the er constantly, and they said the same thing that it was my hormones way out of whack so they gave me the pill to see if that would help. Its six weeks now and its starting to ease off a bit now but i dont know where all the blood is coming from. Maybe the pads make it look like theres more than there is or something. Im just trying to keep myself healthy and take iron supplements thought they make me barf lol. I hope youre doing ok now love, and i hope the blood stops soon.
