So we found out yesterday, after bleeding on the weekend, that we have lost our baby
We have opted to m/c naturally rather than have a d & C.
What should I expect to happen, as last time I had the d&c, so i'm not sure what to expect.
The mw was very helpful yesterday in explaining what will happen and that it should take up to 2 weeks to complete, but I would like to hear your experience with waiting to m/c.
I understand it will be emotional an painful, but i'm prepared for this and i'm ready to accept it. The only part i'm not sure that i can handle is if I lost it all in the toilet. I'm not sure I could bring myself to flush my baby down the toilet How will I know when I have passed my baby out? what will it look like?
I am so sorry your going through this.
As for what you will see it will depend on the size of bub as to if you can identify him/her in what you will pass. For me it was too early so I couldn't really see anything except placental tissue and blood/clots. With my second loss bub was in the tube so was surgically removed and taken to pathology so other then on scan I didn't see anything.
If you are worried about what you will pass whilst going to the loo or just sitting there as its the most comfortable sometimes maybe hold some toilet paper under your vagina so nothing will be lost into the toilet. If you look (which I couldn't help but look) and see bub has been passed maybe you could put it in a pot or something and grown some flowers in it (just making some suggestions)
Once again I am sorry you are going through this.
Hi Sirenz
I'm so sorry this has happened, i really had a good feeling that things would work out for you
When I had my mc, i was bleeding a lot, with clots, then there was a clot with 'extras'. I dont know how you could explain it. It was so clear that there was more than just blood, you could see lining, .. gee i really don't know how to put it in words. But - it was very obvious.
sirenz, I'm sorry that you are going through this.
I had a miscarriage two weeks ago when I was approx 6 weeks (I believe it was slightly less than that though). For me the whole thing was 'over' in about 3 days. I woke up to bleeding on the Tuesday morning. It had a few clots in it and seemed about as heavy as a normal period, it wasn't overly heavy or anything (I assumed it would be quite heavy). I didn't find the whole thing painful but I did have a few cramps (not unlike AF cramps in my case though). On the Wednesday the bleeding was around the same amount. On the Thursday it was a lot less, to the point that by the afternoon I didn't even need a pad anymore.
I didn't 'see' anything that looked like a baby to me. I know that one of the clots I saw would have been my baby but I honestly have no idea which one and I try not to think about the fact that my baby went down the toilet. It's sad I know, but I try not to let myself think about that bit.
if your already bleeding it could happen very soon, with my natural I was around 7-8 weeks when I started bleeding about a week later I was out and had very bad cramps almost like I needed to do #2 way TMI...I went to the toilet and felt quite sick about a hr later I passed a very large clot, I know now with another natural m/c I had but wasn't aware I was pg I passed that one in the bathroom...
but once that was over there was no physical pain...
I am sos sorry for your loss

: removing signature sorry
When I had my mc at Christmas I was about 6-7 weeks. My process was long. I bleed for 3 weeks in total. Initially it started brown, then went bright red and heavy. On Christmas eve I passed a piec of tissue about 2 cm long. I thought that was it, but 2 weeks later after lighter bleeding I passed a roundish semi hard (sorry tmi) meaty ball. I kept it in the fridge for a week because I had a clinic appointment and they took it for a biopsy. It was fetal material. I'm not sure how far along your baby grew to so it depends on its age when it passed as to what you would see. I also didnt experience much pain at all.
I have had 2 miscarriages, one at 8w2d and one 2 weeks ago at 5w2d.
The one at 8w2d was very clotty, crampy and there were noticeable clots that were part of the developing baby & placenta. They were fairly big clots but not huge. The whole thing took about 3 days.
The one at 5w2d was a sudden gush of blood loss that then reduced down to clots that varied from 5c piece sized to 20c piece. Like the first one, it was over with in 3 days but I have had spotting on and off for the whole 2 weeks... nothing major just old blood.
Once again I am so sorry for your loss honey

thanks so much for all of your replies. This afternoon I started bleeding heavy with bright red blood. A few large clots have passed ( about 5 or 6) and one quite large one that I am sure was my baby It was absolutely horrific when I had to flush the toilet. Thank god for my dh being here for me. I think I am still in shock.
I have very heavy bleeding atm and have had since 3pm, how do you know when it is too much? should I be worried about heavy bleeding or is it normal? The cramping is like very, very bad period pain but it is bearable.
Also, this might be TMI, but with the blood when wiping on the loo, I also have some type of membranes (clear, very stringy) mixed with the blood. Could this be a sign that it will be over soon?
If you feel like you are 'flooding' pads and you are having to change them often, then you may be bleeding a little too much. It sounds like it will be over soon but I think there is a herb that you can take that will help, Tanya and Inana know what it is. I hope you have a lot of support around you besides your DH, it might help to have someone there who isn't experiencing loss as well kwim? take care
Sirenz I'm so sorry you are going through this hun
I just want to let you know that sometimes the bleeding may get heavier again after a couple of days even if it has slowed down a bit. I just wanted to share that with you in case it does happen just so you know.
This happened with me with some of my M/C's but not all of them.
Sending you more "hug" hun.
thanks ladies. It turned out not to be over yesterday and I had very strong contractions for 3hrs, it was almost like when I was in labour with my ds then, sure enough, a heap more clots passed.
I really hope it has all passed now so I can get on with the emotional healing.
Just want to thank you all again for your support in which is now the most horrific thing I have had to go thru
