yes this a huge reason for many of the people I know using cloth, I used dispoasables for the first 3 months I thought that the system I'd panned on using was alot more work (terry flats and napisan etc) turned out whasn't as hard as I thought..but the system I use now is SO easy it's ridulucous, and I know that next bub I will be using cloth from birth..Probably the one thing I read that did concern me was that the absorbent gel crystals they use in disposables was banned from tampons in 1986 because of the risk of TSS. Also another biggie for me was reading that because dispoasbles create a higher temperature around the bottom there is a possible risk this could lead to male infertility later on. This did worry me because it was my DH's low sperm count that led to us having to do IVF to get pg.
I don't condem anyone for choosing disposables, it is a personal choce like everything else, and I'm certainly no environmental matyr I produce plenty of personal waste, but I figure cutting down as much as I can is my goal...I just really truely love cloth nappies, and probably would use them even if it were as distructive to the environment.
I do love to enlighten everyone to the wonderful modern cloth nappies around, so mnay people think it's still all about terry flats, pins, plastic pants and napisan..
