Help me get out my lazy mindset!

I'm too lazy to toilet train. I can't htink of anything worse than having to find toilets when we're out!

DS is almost ready, sometimes I think he's ready, other times he fills his nappy as if never even notices. So I think training right now would probably need a fair bit of effort. I'm thinking of waiting a bit longer.

But can someone tell me the advantages of toilet training? I can't help thinking how easy nappies are.. and that's with washing them every day! LOL. Until I'm convinced how wonderful it would be to have him trained.. I just can't do it!

LMAO - as I type this, he's standing in the loungeroom saying "do wee.. penis.. bum! bum!" and pushing on his nappy.

Argh.. is he ready? am I ready??

No way - the undies are easier!!!!
If you wait until they are really ready and don't force the issue, they can train quite quickly. Then you have half the nappies to wash!

Update: he just took a pooey nappy off.. pushed it down and stepped out of it.. so yup - was all over his legs. ARgh... not impressed!

I still think he's only aware after he's done it tho.. he's not anticipating it yet.

But Lulu - when we're out, or we're driving, it's good to know he can just go LOL.

If you aren't ready then he's not ready And vice versa. With Paris I knew she was ready and it took me one solid week and she only ever had 1 accident, and we went away to bright for a weekend with friends and had no accidents there either. Seth I'm about to start, but only because he's started doing the strip down thing which is what Paris did right before I knew she was ready. With Paris I used a toilet seat but the seats are a PITA for boys so we'll be going straight for a potty.

I think it really depends where you are at and where he is at. Seth has been telling me for a long time now, so really I could have started me probably a month ago I just hadn't got around to it LOL and with work coming up I now have to. I never found toilet training stressful, I actually find it exciting (ok yes I know we are talking about body waste LOL) its another step in his life.

With Paris I waited till she was well and truly ready like nearly 6 months after she started telling me and was asking to go to the toilet. Seth has been asking to use the toilet for a few months and telling us for at least 3 or 4 months now. He actually seems more ready than she did, so here's hoping he'll be just as easy. I taught Paris using the "Dr Phil Method" and plan to do that combined with Huggies printable incentives (free) in hopes to make it just as fun and exciting as Paris thought it was

I can't really tell you either way its something you know in yourself And yes it is a lot easier to take them to the toilet than change them, you just need to be organised and "Go before you leave"

The tolet is so much easier.. It can be frustrating for the 1st couple of weeks but after that it just gets easier and easier.

    just some tips

Always make the toilet area accessible.
i used to use a nappy when I went out for my own sanity rather then anything else. but took the boys to the toilet if they asked or I asked them
use a nappy in the car for that very reason
be prepared for a few accidents a day. the more you are prepared the less accidents will happen hehe..

If he is ready he should have it under control within a week maybe 2

Your partner needs to be ready as well. I swore that DH was trying to sabotage the whole the thing for me. If he dressed DD of a morning he would put a nappy on her. If we were heading out shopping he insisted she be in a nappy as he didn't want delays with finding toilets etc He is just a stubborn individual, even trying to get him to stop just so you get a drink before a headache hits is just a hassle, so imagine the urgency of a toddler needing a toilet. So I think that put us back a couple of steps, he has come around to it now thankfully.

I completely understand the laziness factor, the first few outings were a stress, but are much easier now.
